He's probably more cunning than smart, Winnie is at least a lawyer and well Hone is Hone..... Also had a long talk on a marae with a well known Maori community leader who had known Hone well for years and worked with him. Their comment was Hone has never been able to think for himself, any ideas he has were passed down from Mama , the actual comment was : " Mum pulls the strings and Hone dances " Personally if a so called friend could make that comment about him, I couldn't place too much faith in the bloke. Not that I'd trust old Winston either.

And what a great price.

Now at a vet's clinic after having back problems. There had be something wrong when he got beaten by horses in that race that he breezed past in his first start over there. If he'd finished a well beaten 2 nd or 3rd you'd have thought just beaten by better horses but he's heaps better than many of the others who finished in front of him.

Will meet you halfway. . Th e idiot responsible , you think would be better employed than sitting on his house roof studying the stars at night and making astrological predictions. One was a classic , that my friend's 3 year relationship had just turned to custard . At this stage he was in Spain on a honeymoon cruise.

I don't know. Trveor McKee remarked to me one day that Sunline did, don't think it was the first female he'd come across in training like that, so reasons may be varied like naturally occuring hormoness. Who am I to argue with him that it happens. . Pity he is no longer here to ask, guess sometimes it happens with no sinister reason . What do you put the reason down to ? And you still haven't answered . have you gone to appropriate people with the claims of favourable treatment and got them to to try and find out why female horses look like males ? Do some testing ?
-
It is the insidious way things are put saying things without saying them, straddling a fine line first animal abuse ( the horrific stories without further explanation, . the " I hear plenty of stories, the staff say this, why do the fermale horses look like males etc etc . It is all leading up to the same thing without actually saying it. For that reason I checked with someone who has spent 40 years in law , also the racing industry , before I posted. After reading some of the comments they concurred. Why not take these stories and concerns to proper authorities or take some sort of action, what is repeating gossip on here going to do to resolve situation, if a man is a cheat help get rid of him, don't hide behind a non de plume and do nothing . Who is that helping ? And legally can you make any accusations you like just because it is an open forum ? I'm reminded of a mate of mine, extremely well known in racing and law circles. He had things reported about him weekly by a so called journalist and believe me they were much less serious than some remarks made about Purdon on here. He still considered he had the right to sue but in the end said " You can't get blood out a boulder " That might be the saving grace.

It would be worse if he decided on the slogan his shops used. How does the " My Chopper's A Whopper Classic " sound
-
You seem to be playing with semantics here, saying things but half not saying them. You obviously are trying to not cross a line , but in reality have probably already crossed into dangerous territory, if Purdon wanted to take action. Why not have courage of your convictions and lay it all out ? If it is true you would have no problem defending yourself , calling witnesses on your behalf etc. In essence you'd have nothing to worry about. It just seems to be pointless throwing veiled accusations about for a handful of people to read . Think of the greater good if you really went public, you could defended yourself by laying everything you had proof of out in open - you would be helping the industry by getting rid of your nemesis for once and for all

The Fixer is apparently having soreness issues again.

Aussie detection barns do'n't seem to have killed off too many Purdon runners in recent memory.
-
What ?? Can you not spot someone being cynical. Agreeing with you for Heaven's sake, I'm sorry if it went over your head. What I was attempting to say was if there had been half the skullduggery some accuse him of , like team driving to win big races in Australia, he would have spent more time on the sideline than he ever did training or driving.
-
Heck, so much for Aussie stewards being better than ours, must be asleep on the job. All of those big races Purdon has won over there, how many Interdoms and other Cups and due to team driving, doping and other crimes against humanity. Their doping detection systems must be all to hell as well. Unless they are all Ned Kelly's and in on the punt.

Murray Burns ? Can remember his " You can run to the tote " Nice guy met him once at Radio Pacific function, would have been mid 1980's.

That is a heck of a long time. I've been through complete cardiac arrest myself and had no heartbeat at all for 12 minutes. I normally don't believe in the power of prayer but will make an exception for Ricky. Hang in there son!

Latest version of the Racing Industry Bill - LAND GRAB!
Ronaldo replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
Can see this dragging on and on, some clubs have obviously taken legal advice and with lawyers on their committees can't see them rolling over and saying I'm all yours just take me. Legal battles could thwart the whole process as taking something that isn't yours to take , is just thievery under another guise and what court could allow that on principle. -
Great horses , loved Heidleberg. My favourite going back was Shivaree, I can remember reading in a racing annual , that when they wanted him to pose for a shot, he was so lazy, they had to pick up his feet to get him to move. Get him on the race track and he was a tiger. My wife's grandfather bred another good horse they had in the 80's, Javelin.

I was so impressed one day at Ellerslie on a Derby Day. There was a bloke there obviously retarded calling out to Dave " Where's Lance ? "" Dave told him , busy now but I'll make sure he comes out and meets you . 15 minutes later Lance comes out, goes and shakes this poor guy's hand and has a chat to him. A family brought up right and on busiest day of the year just about. Real class and not for any publicity, just genuinely kind gesture,.

Well not in actual words, but in saying he would probably still have finished 4 th without interference, he didn't seem to be trying to present a very positive case. All in all, plus saying he was sorry for Frankie that should happen over something so minimal, he almost was heading that way. I wonder what the owners of the promoted horse were thinking when he claimed result could well have been the same. He sure doesn't seem to have been fighting tooth and nail for promotion.
-
Interesting though that he was backed up by rider of the promoted horse who said it would have made no difference to him finishing any closer than 4 th. Must be unusual to have a jockey who stands to be promoted almost saying don't promote me.

Poor fella, if you go back to November last year, he had made a return from injury only to break his leg. Best wishes to him, surely the tide of fortune must turn.

Vote for Competence - Glenda Hughes - I think not
Ronaldo replied to Mark D's topic in Galloping Chat
Yet another professional trough eater. I can remember my GP saying you couldn't take a manager from a brewery and expect them to be competent running a hospital. Same applies here., what experience / background did she have in a such a specialised industry to get the job ? like Cameron George an ex car salesman running a racing club and now a league club. Surely you choose people that know the industry. -
Also above for " sucking the you know what " as it was put. Just pointing out his language aside, that he isn't arse kissing as much as made out. Would rather have him with all his apparent follibles , than the previous racing director who is now defiinitely one lawnmower short of a blade.
-
It's not as easy as that though. He was willing to say what he thought and got a kick in the arse for it, anyone that crosses those on high gets booted off the air by the sound of it, with temporary suspensions. That is where the problem lies, get someone half his age and soon as they get offside with " God " on high, they would get the same treatment. Don't blame Peter, there is probably a lot more he'd like to say, but then he'd be broadcasting to himself.
-
He's already served one recent suspension for saying exactly what he thought and upsetting those upstairs , probably be going easy and not risking any more being sent to the " naughty corner " for awhile

Never have much luck with Brent Mangos for some reason, very good driver but always ends up parked for me. I had a Dutch friend with surname Versteeg , his nemesis was driver of same name, he always backed him because of the connection but after waiting a few years to get a return he reckoned he was just a disgrace to family name. Richard Brosnan used to rark me up , would back him when he drew like 5 or 6 figuring he couldn't find the rails from there, but within 100 metres his eyes would light up and he'd head over there and be 3 deep.
