Wondered how long before this came up. It was a shocker. -

One of them was knowing a trainer in 2 horse outfit , he told me he had a very special maiden, that would go to open class. Followed it from start and it ended up winning Interdom heat at around $ 35 when be backed it. Was actually highest point scorer going into the final, but scratched on final's morning with bad leg, Still was good following horse up from beginner to being top qualifier for Interdom final. -
Used to wor Used to work next to Clive when he had his business. Later gave me a few good tips over the years, one of the nicest blokes you could ever meet. True gentleman.

One year at Thames races this was a strong suspicion that the races were going to be done over by two prison escapers. Cops everywhere and even the Race Course Inspector was armed. Probably as close as it has come in regard to a tote robbery.

Sorry about double posting, something here not working as it should.

As a member can answer the above. When they raced on Summer nights they had higher turn overs than when they raced during the day. It was the Winter nights that killed them. Should have done it only in Summer months. Had that related by a committee member at the time. Then the stock market crashed and they lost a lot of sponsorships,

Jamie Richards stated before the race that she had been given an easy time since KM. What I would love to know is where the impressive unnamed Super Easy Richard Collett trained horse that beat OTB at Avondale Trials in December is. Third horse that day has also won, very strong trail, I'm thinking maybe sold after that trial ?

iIf I was driving a horse with choppers that large I think they'd have to put the blinkers on me.

You have about as much insight as Quincy Magoo you Mug. I've raced horses there for years, So paper says " sell out almost " trainers we talked to their mentioned how big the crowd was , but would would guys like Ken Rae and Stephen Ralph know . Guys that had been there 25 years in a row said how big crowd was but you can decry THEIR insights as well as mine from comfort of your lounge , what a dickhead you turned out to be.

Read above, if that info from anti racing site doesn't convince you give up. Also it is Herald opposition reporting and didn't Herald have a lot on input into the day ? I would venture I've been going there as long as you have.

Bit much to say that when you weren't there. Lines at women's toilets 40 long, counted 30 in line for a beer. Had people who have been there every year remark to me they hadn't seen anything like that in many years. Got nothing to do with me, I'm no fan of theirs, just going by what I saw, what I was told and what paper reported.

Boxing Day , newspaper reports had crowd at biggest in well over a decade and it was chaotic. That has always been their biggest day I believe going back to Derby days.

To be honest, didn't Auckland have their largest crowd in 13 years on what is traditionally their biggest day ? The place was jamm packed. I think on lesser days both courses would be equally empty.
-
Good luck to them if they can cope with 14,000. Auckland was barely coping with all their facilities, lines at women's tiolets 35 to 40 long, same for a drink. God help them if too many more had turned up. Had one bloke say to us he was busting told him to find a tree, but had to yell out that we hadn't meant the one right in front with women walking past. It was crazy with lines to put bets on, glad I put mine on before we left. The other thing, if it is 100 % industy subsidised where have the multi mutil millions from their land sales been put ? Notice all the land worth mega millions by hill now housing. Not being funny, I honestly don't know what they have done with it. Again no fan of theirs, being member of another Auckland club .

The ARC are no friends of mine. but to call it a dump is beyond ludicrous . Went out there with people the other day for first time in 10 years and all remarked what a beautful race course it is. As for cashing it up, no chance, when plans are for a synthetic track and the 3 Auckland clubs to race there.

Yes as I said before " the void " They have been screwed over so many times before. They get stuck with Wednesday dates with no man and his dog there, then they wanted to increase stakes and were told weekday stakes had to remain at certain level, were offered their two big races back by ARC but that got knocked back. Why in God's name should they trust this Winston led rabble to follow through on anything ? It was mentioned somewhere that they had their eyes on ARC land next, probably the steeplechase hill. That will be alright to just seize as well ? I would assume with lawyers on the committee, they would have enough nous to make sure this things drags on for a long time to come. You would think as soon as a law change comes, they will slap on injunction.

Maybe because one of them shuts down for months over the winter months. I think they have more trials at Avondale than any where else and it provides great winter footing. Either that or shoot all the way to Ruakaka. Look at this way, these sleazy gutter snipes have squandered multi millions on an excuse for a betting web site , failed betting schemes the Mad Hatter couldn't have dreamed up. put nothing into maintaining tracks, in essence have buggered all they have touched. Now you hand over the assets a club has built up over a hundred years and trust them to do the right thing and not see all that cash just vanish into the void ? No wonder, they are not trusted, the same overpaid noddy's are still there. In the end it is up to no one but the 200 member's to make a decision.. Personally with National saying this is no one's plan but Winston's and they would change it , I think the AJC will hope to drag it out legally until beyond the election, hoping for a change of government.
