  1. Still a hard road, that Aus market is very hard to break into. Don't quote me, but I think many of the other NZ trainers that have gone over there have taken several years to make their mark as they establish the contacts and clientele
  2. Pathetic aren't they, then again Herlihy on the FB site is not much better, questioning the integrity of the stipes is getting onto dangerous ground. Just keep it ticking CS, some nice numbers of people who read the threads, and with all the other things planned................
  3. How long before sports want more?
  4. Anyway, we don't really know. What we do know, is that a lot more people are using the 2 TAB apps to bet on sports. It is good exposure that racing has to try and find a way of leveraging into
  5. If the times are to be believed, Waitak won
  6. Agree, nor would they understand the concept of value, they would lose overall but be happy to get a collect. Put a figure on it, say 95%. The point is, lots of new punters are getting to know that the TAB exists because of sports, simply because there are many more followers of sport in NZ than racing. This must bring more exposure to racing and the point I was making in that the young want instant gratification, which racing offers with a race and potential collect over in 5-10 min
  7. Figure it out for yourself, it is very straightforward
  8. I think it is still within the psyche of many NZ'ers including the new generations to have a bet. The focus being more on sports though The challenge being to get the crossover. Research has shown there are many reasons why potential punters do not trust the racing industry, but an advantage is, a race is all over in 5 minutes
  9. I think there are many different ways that someone new can be introduced to racing. You have mentioned 2 but there are many more
  10. It was just the one race that they had the malfunction, then spent the extra time reviewing all they had, which was the video footage. Better to take the extra time and get it right. Pretty clear cut in the end
  11. I guess no one knows what goes on behind the scenes, but one would have thought if you had underwritten NZ Racing to the tune of almost a billion dollars, that you would have a lot to say via TABNZ, especially if after 5 years, if not done wisely, will affect your return and ultimately your future participation.
  12. To split hairs, it is 2 years and 8 months
  13. I'm surprised Entain has not got a lot more forceful, perhaps it has, perhaps that is why Bruce Sharrock left after the ongoing problems with tracks under his watch
  14. It can't be stealing assets The Racing Act was amended in 2020 to allow the code (NZTR) to declare a club surplus and legally acquire title
  15. If you put up a billion dollars over 5 years, would you be having the major say in how racing is run
  16. As the last foals come through first week of December, I presume no stats would be available till early next year Owners must notify Stud Book of the birth of a foal within 30 days of the birth
  17. Talking about the breeding industry, does anyone know what the foal crop is for 24/25
  18. That is the point, I don't know, but I am looking at the bigger picture in that Entain have chosen to effectively invest a billion dollars in NZ racing over 5 years. This has meant that stakemoney has effectively more than doubled from what it would have been had Entain not come along. That in itself is a green shoot. I am not denying that there are many problems.
  19. I just find it amazing, that people with no expertise in financial analysis, have done their own evaluation and come to the conclusion that after 5 years of being underwritten by Entain, racing in NZ will be doomed because the payout will fall substantially. By taking such a negative stance, they are contributing to it
  20. They receive a lot of money from the increasing sports wagering as per the Racing Act. Eventually sports will want a bigger piece of what is their pie
  21. And what if you are wrong, you have wasted 5 years being negative, I mean to say, you and others that pass comment are hardly financial analysts of any note
  22. Duplicitous, good word, I can see why you used it
  23. I'm surprised you stick up for him after all the shyte he and his Dog mate gave you on the Dog channel, when you were running it. The guy used to dish it out in a very unsavory manner and now he is getting it back, rightly or wrongly, who gives a flying F
  24. Sports betting is flying, I presume most of the new customers are sports bettors Look forward to this In addition to transforming live race coverage, the new GPS-RTK system will deliver comprehensive post-race sectional and timing data, offering racing lovers unprecedented insight into race performance. This will soon be available through trackside.co.nz and other platforms as a powerful tool for form analysis and to enhance the overall racing experience. Stay tuned over the summer months for the debut of Upon The Land We Stand, hosted by Kylie Bax. Kylie is travelling the length of New Zealand to uncover the stories, spirit, and people that make our racing community so special Someone was complaining elsewhere about Michael Guerin interviewing Zac Purton and its relevance to NZ racing, and that they should be grassroot NZ racing people. Well, there is your answer
