  1. He strikes me as the sort who would not know the difference between a weed(not that sort) and a plant, wouldn't let him loose in my garden
  2. Why?
  3. Might see you there one Boxing Day of NYD then Pete. I presume that would mean picnics and boot parties would also come back and that infield might actually look like an array of people enjoying themself. Nothing better to attract people, than to see it all happening
  4. I think there were bar charts and more data, not just a statement. But you are probably right, after seeing some of the stuff in NZTR/RB Business plans....delusional Andrew Brown and Racing Ahead being the most so
  5. I presume that is NZ data over more than a season Is that from NZTR/RB I'm sure I saw in one of their reports that 14 was optimal Will try and find it later on
  6. I read some data somewhere, that said the optimum field size for highest turnover per runner , was 14. I think it was in an NZTR Annual report a while back Might have been a NZRB one
  7. Another aspect related to punters D4 New Plymouth, D6 Rotorua, yet quite a few fields are decimated by scratchings, leaving 6 and 7 horse fields which punters may find unattractive and affects the clubs betting on the day Surely you should only be able to scratch a horse for vet reasons or unsuitable change in track conditions
  8. Is this why we see stayers coming from the UK, and going directly into staying races in Aus, like the Melbourne Cup and other races. All the conditioning work is done on the training track
  9. What about the regularly occurring situation of running a stayer fresh up in a 1200m sprint, to improve fitness I presume, knowing it could never win, because it simply does not have the basic speed
  10. It's a bit vague isn't it Unless there is something else more definitive within the rules of racing
  11. 636 (1) A person: (a) shall not run a horse, or cause or permit a horse to be run, other than on its merits; (b) being the Rider of a horse in a Race, must take all reasonable and permissible measures throughout the Race to ensure that his horse is given full opportunity to win the Race or to obtain the best possible finishing place;
  12. You would have to give the track a definite pass, the B grade open sprinters ran 1.13.60. On the old track with that much rain, it would have been a mud bath and about 5 seconds slower. Surprised that so many scratched
  13. Yes, well pointed out I can recall as a youngster poring over the Auckland Star full sheet lift out....awesome
  14. What a thrill to see the colours of Veandercross on the racetrack again, and winning
  15. Race Day Weather: Overcast Track: Heavy 10 Rail: True | 139mm Rain Last 7 Days | 23mm Rain Last 24 Hours Weather and Track updated at 6.33am Tuesday 26 December
  16. At least a dozen slips on South Head Rd,(1 hour north of Ellerslie) enough to block one lane, never seen that before and we have been here 7 years. So a lot of rain over a sustained period has fallen, with the last lot still to through Auckland. If it is a dead track tomorrow Pete, then you would have to applaud the new track rennovations
  17. Firstly Xmas wishes to one and all, and productive punting, but geeez Barry, with all due respect, don't antagonise things. If he trolls your posts, then I suppose it is inevitable that people will lash back out at him....but otherwise
  18. As a suggestion Perhaps a paragraph under the Welcome All message, along the lines of The site owner, reserves the right to remove anyone from the site, whose behaviour over a sustained period of time, in posting, is deleterious to the overall good of the site. It is expected this will be a rare occurrence Basically trolling, which as you say Curious, does not breach the principle of free speech. And I'm not talking about the occasional shit stirring comment, but sustained, ongoing behaviour Trolling Trolling – (verb), as it relates to internet, is the deliberate act, (by a Troll – noun or adjective), of making random unsolicited and/or controversial comments on various internet forums with the intent to provoke an emotional knee jerk reaction from unsuspecting readers to engage in a fight or argument Describe anyone we know
  19. Plus in the New Year, I know the Chief intends to try and ramp up the promotion of BOAY. Not going to be a good look for any prospective people looking at the site and seeing a plethora of threads like those we have seen over the last few days
  20. That's the concern, that people get fed up and it drives them away and it has been hard work to get to where we are without squandering it on some idiot who can't or won't act with some decorum
  21. Yes, and perhaps they should think about that, but there is almost always the same one common denominator
  22. We do have this situation though, where every thread that T becomes involved on, descends into an off topic circus, and it is not good for the site and it's credibility I don't know how you fix that, without working overtime(and why should you) or compromising your standard on free speech. There is the aspect that it can be construed as trolling, and not sure where that stands in the bigger picture of free speech
  23. That is exactly the issue, and people don't have time to be monitoring every post made by T, whereas 99% of other posts and posters are never an issue. For once Molloy was right in saying that any site that allows PD and T to post will not be successful.
  24. Yes, a circus, totally agree, as have several other threads. If it is not addressed, it risks much of the good work that has been done by many in getting the site established, being undone
  25. Read my post fully before you jump to conclusions "but race day fortunately, looks like it will be fine."
