  1. Wouldn't be Xmas on BOAY without a comp, so here we go Simple comp, Boxing Day and New Years Day at Ellerslie, 10 races each day, one selection per race, 2 best bets per day, $1 ew on your selection. Winner with the highest total at the finish of NYD. Closes at the start of racing on each day, no subs, scratchings can be replaced, up until close, then it's onto the sub. Everyone welcome, including our well versed comp players from the dark side, only catch, you have to register here Prize - $200 ENTRY THREAD on Sunday
  2. Disagree Strong leadership is about effectively facilitating change, getting everyone to buy in etc etc not forcing or mandating change, which will always create resentment somewhere
  3. Only made the suggestion of close to the major population centre, as at best racing would be 50-60 days per year, so it would need to be utilised the other 300 days, and any development would need to encompass that. Also close to the major gateway to NZ, Auckland International Airport. The 3 clubs would never agree to a scenario of no racing in the Auckland region, but maybe a very small chance with a joint complex
  4. Too many fish hooks with Eden Park these days, though I think the move to the waterfront would be a positive one. Spark Arena down there gets well patronaged If Eden Park with so much tradition can relocate, then why not Ellerslie and the other 2 Auckland clubs. Saundry was right in saying, initiatives being put in place now, need to be ones that will last for the next 50 years. Half a billion plus from the sale of Ellerslie, Avondale and Counties, gets you a pretty swish new facility in the Karaka area, with everything. Otherwise this is all going to end up in the courts, and the divisions created will be permanent
  5. Is anyone able or willing to post an update on where Avondale stand, bearing in mind the reco in the Messara report "We recommend the sale of Avondale racecourse as soon as possible and are proposing it be closed and sold as early as 2020/21."

Excellent Rees, making a late run on the inner for post of the year
  7. You mean his half brother P4P But no he doesn't, but the Chief would love him to, because it is a level playing field here. No protection from his bum buddy Scooby Maybe not a good idea though, I don't think people want that sort of vituperative crap here
  8. Was just really getting across Saundy's hope, that the 3 clubs work out a regional solution that works for the next 50 years, rather than having something forced on them, forced on Avondale to be precise
  9. Have a compass TC, it gets me home every night to our lifestyle block at South Head With that option, you still have the issue of access from all the training centres in the Waikato, which you would not have at Karaka. It takes 35 min to get to Dairy Flat, via the Silverdale turn off, from central Auckland
  10. It is also West Auckland, and that still has a huge stigma in Auckland
  11. Came from last at the 700 to win by 4 lengths, which they are supposedly not meant to do at Ruakaka. At 26's in the Derby
  12. Karaka is 30 minutes away At a squint, you could still call that central Auckland, everyone has cars in Auckland anyway.
  13. A bit of a silver tongue, but one thing he said on Trackside today was worth some merit When talking about the contentious sale of racecourses and assets being transferred to NZTR(which he disagreed with). He said it was preferable that clubs in regions get together and voluntarily come up with solutions, rather than being mandated. In Auckland, we have Ellerslie, Avondale and Counties. Now Avondale are never going to go along with the Messara reco, and will tie it up in court for years, so Saundy's suggestion has some merit. Why don't all 3 sell, and put into a joint new racing complex at Karaka. Close to the sales, closer to the proposed new Waikato greenfields complex and other Waikato training centres, avoids the Auckland traffic, and still close enough to the Auckland population centre to allow oncourse attendance
  14. I suppose more of the abuse is to be expected as BOAY overtakes RC as the premier site, they always were bad losers. People just want to debate racing etc, so it is only a matter of time, before others desert the ship, as there is hardly any debate over there. Let's hope they contribute more positively than you Nice Option
  15. Where did Barry say this?
  16. You know what will happen don't you?
  17. Anyhoo, no more data, our friend has closed that down, long after the horse has bolted, I wonder why The number of posts in each section are clear to see and tell the story anyway
  18. As far as course closures are concerned, Messara just deferred to the NZRB/NZTR/HRNZ/GRNZ Future Venue Plan Joint Working Group
  19. Excuse the pun, but when do we get the Stipes report
  20. Did you PM him, or is this a Tommo style selection?
  21. 2. Best Post, Jess on NZ Racing Site thread Has more bs jargon than ........ I challenge anyone to find a post that is more subtly cynical jess Members 225 195 posts Posted September 3 (edited) Press Release II Following the earlier press release about our new branding we have fielded a number of enquiries so thought it best to issue a brief statement to clarify the situation. To answer all those who wanted to know about the cost of the re-branding, we are unable to disclose this as it is commercially sensitive information. What we can say however is that we entered into a consultation phase with industry partners and stakeholders, with the emphasis on being both customer-centric and results driven. We listened to what you were telling us and once we drilled down into the action plan, we were able to brainstorm the options for an iconic name to spearhead the brand. We ran the best 3 options up the flagpole and while each had obvious merits – it proved a difficult task to choose between them – finalists being “Loveracing” “Likeracing” and “Loatheracing”. With the help of top marketing firm OTTTM – we decided that going forward, “Loveracing” was the best strategic fit for the business. We believe this showcases our aspirational goal - of every New Zealander loving racing – and is yet another example of our bold and innovative blue-sky thinking. We think you’ll all agree – we hit the ground running with the launch of the new initiative and we’ve really hit the back of the net with the new look, value-added website. <ends> Media Release – 03/09/18 Pippa West – Senior Communications Adviser Off To The Trough Marketing (OTTTM)
