Race 2 NZB STANDARDBRED MOBILE PACE Show Video MIGHTY REACTOR - over-raced middle stages. BAILEYS DIAMOND - held up throughout the run home. Declared a non runner by Stewards under Rule 213(1)(k) with all bets being refunded after starting from the incorrect barrier position of 8 instead of its allocated barrier position of 5 due to having the incorrect saddlecloth number on. Trainer D Taylor (represented by J Morrison) was fined $350 by the Adjudicative Committee after presenting his stable runners BAILEYS DIAMOND (R Close) and BEST TRIO (J Morrison) with the incorrect saddlecloth numbers. BEST TRIO - over-raced middle stages. Declared a non runner by Stewards under Rule 213(1)(k) with all bets being refunded after starting from the incorrect barrier position of 5 instead of its allocated barrier position of 8 due to having the incorrect saddlecloth number on. SNEAK A PEEK - over-raced middle stages. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home. HUH, no mention of the paid employees who's job it is to oversee racing/race day procedures.... WOW

Can anyone explain this RIB decision - 23 Feb 2022 - Race 6
Dougie replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Trotting Chat
I'd hope because Blair did exactly the same thing the day b4 at Invercargill, his horse was DQ and he got a $300 fine. So Blair did pretty much exactly the same thing 2 days in a row, I agree with the bigger penalty for the 2nd time but how was one horse DQ at Invercargill but at Ashburton not. Murdoch gets fined $350 for whip use in a workout with an unqualified horse, Orange gets disqualified from a placing costing punters plenty for going inside the markers and gets fined less than Murdoch...... not only are they not consistent, they constantly pick on the little bloke. -

Race 11 - WORKOUT LEARNERS PACE. Driver J Murdoch (BIGGLES) admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip & Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home and the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $350. Has anyone ever seen this before.??.. $350 fine for John who hardly ever drives, yes he admitted it but an unqualified horse winning a workout and learning/being taught how to keep giving over the final 200m of a race ......... be curious to know how many warnings John has had for this previously. -
Great win today by Aveross Majesty, small field probably helped too but after his excellent 1st up run after a year off he was always a winning chance, a great training effort by Dennis & Bruce... but then again at 20-1 not many were keen. Had breathing issues from memory last year and for them to miss most of the grass racing season with him showed great patience.

Good on AF making this statement. Young Mr Jones must be an interesting chap, his stable look to be a big punting stable as most of his runners are heavily backed..... but geez his stats are crazy good with so so horses. That horse last night that was scratched.. 5 year old maiden had his 1st start 3 weeks ago after only qualifying as a 5 year old down south.... runs a 1:54 mile rate.

Great effort, loved following the family for 20 plus years ... Matty's been a hard catch for me as a punter and personally think Nathan is the best driver in the whole family but as Phil proved today and a few weeks back you need to be on the right horse at the right time too. I'm sure we don't keep stats like this but would be curious of the 1000 wins how many were in front with 800 to go...

What SEN are you listening to??? on the SEN NZ APP they have their main 24/7 sports/racing chat but they also have Trackside where u can listen to or watch all the races.
-
Cheers Mardy, he's great to listen to on SEN, as is Baz M.... not so keen on Izzy though.

Mickey G after yesterday's tipping effort needs to focus more on tipping the right horses not his buddy's horses. Now it's not his fault he followed the stupid government rules to get his exemption BUT in what world are we living in when a journalist can leave Auckland to work in CHCH but Ray Green can't, Tony Herlihy can't, Maurice McKendry can't, Todd Mitchell can't......... Not sure where the awesome Ian Smith lives or does his radio show from but he was also in CHCH to work on Cup Day.

For me the trot races on cup day have always been the highlight outside of the cup itself .... Can anyone answer a few questions re R1.... Matty Williamson no drive in R1 & Morrison is driving Springbank Mason-- very strange IMO plus B.D Yasothon been nominated a couple of times but not started after a huge 1st up run, great trainer but maybe an issue or two with him-- really think the Fav is too short in R1 which obviously gives better prices to others & can't believe Spy Da Moment & With Ice are $20-1. R3 Interesting Dunn gets off hot fav to drive stable horse... KD Hawk at nice odds for a place R7 Think Bolt for Brilliance can get over the top of MM, hoping for a price drift & would prefer a different driver to Curtin R10 $10 for Brian Boru looks nice Henry Hubert can sneak a place in the Cup, be very interesting to see how the 4 Dunn horses are driven re the lead & giving it away .... Interesting driver change on Corravally Star, can place at odds as can Harrison with a nice run through from 2 on the 2nd row.

Yes, heard him on SEN, granted exemption only needs to provide a negative test b4 departure - he maybe vaccinated or not I'm not sure nor care. You watch what will happen at Xmas... she will allow the vaccinated from Auckland to travel within NZ which I support but they won't be needing a negative test before travelling ... yet she will sell that this is safer than allowing Kiwis overseas returning even though we need to be fully vaccinated and a negative test. We've been saying it for months, safer to fly Perth to Auckland than Auckland to Wellington but the first option Isn't available unless you enter a lottery with 30,000 other people.
-
So Mick Guerin can travel from Auckland to CHCH to run a punters club through an exemption granted ... he doesn't have to be vaccinated BUT I and thousands of others can't get back into NZ even though we're fully vaccinated and living in Covid free states in Australia....... Any moron can close a border, but it takes real skill to manage it properly, a skill I'm a 100000% sure Cindy and Chris don't have.

RHRC Supports Covid Vaccinations Mobile Pace!!! WTF?

Where was the Peter Lamb Farewell ( sorry for the cock ups) pace ? -
What it shows is you need to be on the speed, sitting at the back of fields 95% of the time is pointless... more importantly 2 well judged drives well done Kaleb. He's driving Mason again Monday, not sure why, no discount for a junior and Matty or Brad don't have drives.

https://www.harness.org.au/media-room/news-article/?news_id=50179 'Ken Spicer, who is also a former Board Member of HRNZ, confirmed the news, citing financial uncertainty and a lack of Open Class horses in the country.' And why is there a lack of Open Class horses in NZ Ken....
-
Good luck Monday with Majestic Man, actually thought the run was good last week, only ran a second or so more than Sundees Sun and from where he was at the 400 in he was never in a winning position --- Leading on Monday will be a different story but was also very impressed with Oscar B.

Your first sentence is 10000% correct and a bloke who has driven for about 4 years should know better than that.. and he did it all on a bend as well, another 20 odd meters of patience and it would have been good to see the finish the horse could have produced, really interested on what the syndicate lads on this site think? I know they are junior drivers for a reason but it's not like he's having his 10th drive, he's close to 100, his drive in the 2nd was good from a bad spot in running.... interesting to see his parents are the owners and sent the horse south but not to him at the Williamson but to the Hope's. Kosciuszko looks a like a beauty of a trotter, great looking animal.
-
I'm awaiting the Stewards report re both Williamson runners in the maiden trot. Some good racing there today & some decent times run.

Methven Trotting Club: The Glory Days! Oh we wish....
Dougie replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Trotting Chat
I've backed a few of them too, Panky's Pacer many times and played golf back then with one of the owners...... Kind of sad really that out of the 15 drivers in that race 14 of them still drive or train except for the winning driver who passed away a few years back... I see Gary Shand has a horse currently racing, does anyone know what happened to Peter Shand?, was a decent driver in his day. -
It's not good to bag drivers but you've gotta say was you see/believe... he doesn't look comfortable sitting in the cart either IMO. The Williamson's wouldn't employ him if he wasn't capable for fast work etc but that doesn't make him a decent driver, I was at Cromwell/Roxborough meeting in Jan and wanted to back a couple of horses Oliver Kite was driving, watched in the parade ring then up and around the 1850 start and he too doesn't look comfortable in the cart either and was very jerky on the bit....., hard not to be P.C but he's a big lad too and a lot of trotters he drives seem to gallop at the start for whatever reason.
-
Another poor effort from this kid just now on Springbank Mason.... this horse wants to run fast and can stay and I doubt you'll see him drive him again, Matty back on for now on please. Smokin Bandar looked the goods too.
-
Yes it looks a poor drive and they went a slow time compared to the other 1850 races, IMO as it was 8 weeks between runs they wanted to give him a good hit out so no point in sitting last and no hope in a sprint home - they could do that in a trial.... The track looked great grass wise but from a punting point of view a tough track to pick on, that final turn looks pretty sharp compared to others and horses seem to lose ground. Waiting for the stewards report for the cup, no 10 meter tape I heard but Brad crept up right behind the front line IMO and didn't start from the correct handicap.

What I dislike is stewards listen to some absolute BS from some drivers but the same BS from other and always lessor drivers they ignore... I love the Williamsons, but lets look at Winning Bones a new horse to Matty's stable.... good race Sept 2 first run for Matty, not so good 2nd up 7 days later with Matty saying horse didn't back up after 7 days... horse runs again 7 days later good run but slow time but yet they were happy to back up 7 days later....better run 10 days later but then poor runs 4 days later then 3 days later........... why on earth are they backing a horse up 4 then 3 days after publicly stating the horse didn't/doesn't back up.... the last start at Oamaru Matty explained the horse wasn't suited to being parked--- Matty moved from 5 back the fence to sit parked.... WTF are u doing that on a horse that's suspect at backing up. I didn't back it but for me that's out and out incompetence and decent stewards would be questing this from a punting point of view plus a horse welfare point of view. -

Error/mis-judgement yes as his horse under it's own steam got a neck in front but when the horse on the inside starting to level up again TW was late/slow in reacting.... so error on a very hot fav has no consequences ?? yes not the crime of the century but when will they realize punter confidence in the suits and participants actually does affect turnover, somehow I think they don't really care as long as they have a job and can pick and choose the drivers to fine or suspend.
