    Mot-Sunday

You're a crazy dude Happy, no odds here yet but will be about the same price I'd assume, I'll have a go and you're right this mare can trot ok but a maiden trot 14 runners. A video during the week where committee members walking the track and looking at improvements etc scared me.... grass looked a foot long so looking to watch race 1 and curious how the crossing is, half of those maiden trotters will gallop over that crossing. Geez with daylight S kicking in first race here at 09:05 will only be 5 bucks in the win pool.
  2. He's either got the Vic's or the Lube out on a friday night working some sort of magic. Some seriously poor rankings for the Dominion came out today, some of those Southland and Otago trotters better start racing soon or they'll miss out on the big dance on Free For All Day.
  3. Should have got on Mikie place multi R1/R3 $9.80 thank u very much. didn't bet on Foregone Conclusion as rated price too short but ran well for 3rd.
  4. $2.80 and $4.80 place prices look very tempting.
  5. First off why on earth have the Winton races today then workouts tomorrow, surely trainers would prefer to squeeze the workouts in today before and after races instead of going back tomorrow. Oh Well we'll know one day just like we'll know when the Dennis driving ban will start. A few place bets: R1 Idle Stuartia R3 Bitamuscle WIN but depends on place price but might be under $1.50 R4 Foregone Conclusion R8 Invaluable R10 Mighty Reactor A watch on Blink N Bones, might get $30+ - nice horse just wish he's put on a full time driver. Looking forward to Happy's winners for Sunday!!!!!!!!!
  6. Hope someone in the Needham family was able to get a few thousand on the place price of $4 which I'm told was available before the plunge, ran a decent time too.
  7. Huge go they reckoned on Ray Needham's horse today in the 3rd race, not sure if that equates to a few hundred bucks or a few thousand but if that was Dennis the Menace driving the shit would have hit the fan...... horse obviously likes to run so he let it run and it got run down i have no problem with the drive, will the suits question him as to why he didn't restrain it and give it the best opportunity to win?
  8. They published the turnover for Methven last week as it was very good, wonder if they'll do the same this week as they might struggle to get half the money invested.
  9. Sadly not only small fields but most are lacking quality too. Not sure of prices but Robyn's Playboy can run top 2 as can Arnie's Army/ Rebel Kibbybones...... and a big roughie in Rites Of Zhou.
  10. Or was it taken off another club? Also interesting that BP is a week before Geraldine and Akaroa( BP) the week after then Methven the following Sunday. 4 Sunday Grass Canterbury meeting's in a row and maybe Rangiora the 5th Sunday with be on the grass also. Then off to the west Coast
  11. Cheers Davis. That reply reminds me how my ex-wife you to talk to me..........
  12. A little off topic but what are the restrictions for Nat, Mark and Blair heading to Auckland for drives tonight from CHCH?? are they in any type of bubble of can they roam Auckland before or after the races and just cruise back to CHCH at any stage over the weekend. Cheers.
  13. Haven't the turnovers for grass track meetings always been good no matter where they're run?? I love that Cromwell meeting every January on the grass, for me if the $$$ say so why on earth from October to February it's a no brainer to have a grass meeting every fortnight shared between BP/Orari/Methven/Cromwell/Waikouaiti, yes you'll get the odd wet day. Good for horses bodies, battling horses can make some $$ and from a punters point of view this is very important the Purdon runners generally stay away, large fields so more competitive racing so surely equates to more $$$ invested on the TAB.
  14. They now have a meeting November 28 maybe that's what his post refers to. Are you ready for BP next week Happy? I'm expecting you to tip us 5 winners on ya fav track.
  15. 100% agree I said a month ago I'd like to see a Williamson dominated trot race for say $15K on this day with Chinese Whisper/Dark Horse/Cracker Hill/Ultimate Stride/Majestic Man add a few Dunn/Hope horses and you'd geet a great field , even do an invitation field or an Oamaru and south field..... all these horses have bigger fish to fry between here and November but surely a mobile sprint race now woudn't upset their preperation. With the Scratchings now I'm really keen to see Robyns Playboy smash them.
  16. I know you're passionate about this Brodie, I don't condone his drives but I for one like to bet on his horses but never when he drives... plain and simple you have a choice, piss poor by the suits that they had Dennis on course sunday to sort this out from the previous week but didn't get it done. I'm more concerned that on sunday 2 winning drivers got finned for excess whip use... I hate the fact you break the rules but don't get relegated. One was Kim Butt on The Maroon Marauder, her partner Jonny Cox on a big outsider screems around from the middle of the field to give her the 1/1 for the remainder of the race then he drops out and she hits the hose too many times and wins narrowly from a very well backed Skippy's Delight, Ricky May followed all the rules gets beaten, must be a better way to handle this type of infringement by the suits.
  17. Pretty poor from the suits that nothing mentioned in the report today re the Dennis O'Connell drive from a week ago. Even worse 2 winning drives today broke the rules re whip use... gotta be a better solution than a $300 fine, it's just shits and giggles to these stewards, people putting their hard earned money on the horse running second and that driver following the rules but yet in reality they get punished.
  18. Awesome work CS. I'm just happy Mikey got off the mark!!!!!!!!! Great days racing especially for us E/W and place punters. Hard to to be harsh of the track but geez that grass was long, some very very slow last 800/400 sectionals, quite a few leaders stopping to a walk too. Some great driving during the day from Jess Young, Robbie Close, Jason Ford to get 2 trotters around in one piece and that last race by Steve McNally.... also some unusual results, J Dunn 1 pacing from 10 drives, Smith and Ottley both had poor days too.
  19. Some really crazy prices of horses going around today... Dismara $2 favourite 3 wins from 65 starts, who on earth is betting on that, even One Over Dover $4 with 4 wins from 65 starts.
  20. I don't think I have ever seen a better winning drive than that in R4 by Robbie Close on Unico Gem... if u get a chance watch it from the start.
  21. Maiden races early on can scare punters off... races 2 and 3 very well backed runners leading but both stopped to a walk is never going to be a confidence builder.
  22. If I backed Queen Of Straithfield I'd be pretty peeved at the lack of vigour from G O'Reilly.
  23. Kim Butt does a video spiel each week with Jonny Cox whilst driving the their race meetings .... Jonny sounded pretty confident from the draw for The Spitfire.
  24. Isn't it great to have a grass track that doesn't have one of those dodgy crossings where half the trotters gallop going over it whilst the driver gets airborne!
