  1. Wouldn't be surprised. Not wishing to be a negative bastard but her win left me feeling a bit flat which only got worse with the carry-on afterwards. That all seemed a bit hollow and false. The triple crown win - yes she did it - but who did she beat? It wasn't a very good Livamol by any measure. Would she measure up against the best in Australia? I doubt it. The self-promotion, the tears and all the other palarver from Galvin (Fortuna) and Ellis coupled with the syrupy stuff from Trackside and Tony Lee made me think - it was false marketing overkill for an industry that is in its death throes. Whereas the Catalyst win had a look of class about it where he absolutely smashed a reasonable field of 3yr old talent and did it with arrogant ease in good time on that track. The reaction from Rick Williams had class about it as well.
  2. Funny you should mention the word "corrupt" - there was quite a bit of jungle drum beating about some fraudulent activity at the NZ TAB which was swept under the carpet. Added to that some strange silent job terminations. I hope this new management crew get to the bottom of it.
  3. The only way to pay your way is with advertising. Name one news website that doesn't have auto-feed advertising on them? Perhaps if they had cut down the editorial and used more of the free stuff for that. I for one miss the form guide and the read on the side. Plus the form guide had all the indexes in one place and the form was accurate probably because it came from Australia!! What is so damn annoying about the new TAB website is the form online is crap and the only way to see good form is to download the PDF's which is a pain if you spending the afternoon with the lads watching the racing down at the local (those that still have a local pub agency!). The Best Bets must cost a shyte load to produce in the format they produce it in BUT you can't view a full field on two pages!
  4. That doesn't make sense. If The Informant had 2,500 subscribers and published 52 editions per year then that works out at about 75 cents per edition. So that can't be the MAIN reason why The Informant fell over. Perhaps it was the cost of Editorial fees? That is paying the Journalists? With the latter NZTA, NZTM, NZTR and NZRB all spend money. Perhaps that money would have been better spent with The Informant.
  5. Saville should have gone long ago and didn't help Allen any. A wagering expert he isn't by a long way and some of his efforts should be formally investigated.
  6. I see on another site where I can't post which should remain nameless are saying that Rogie and the owner can start the horse "where ever they like." Sure they can but the rest of us can point out how daft it is. In OZ the horse wouldn't have got a start in this type of race. Where were our officialdom? I don't blame the owner entirely either - the industry saw him coming just like Don Ha. The horse traders got in quick to fleece some dough out of Te Keeti.
  7. Na he gets dressed by the 40 something childless cougars that frequent the Viaduct. They sort of see him as a dress up doll that appeases their maternal instincts. Which is all good - someone needs to look after him.
  8. The word on the street is Saville ain't too happy with the Lore article. So much so that Allen is in damage control. Pointing out it wasn't $50m but $45m. LOL. Well theres $5m to finish what they started!
  9. Well from what I've been told he wasn't much of anything before he got the job at NZRB. Certainly not a wagering expert. Also he has been the key advisor to the CEO on the new platform and all things betting. As we know Allen doesn't know much about the wagering industry. Plus behind the scenes I understand there may have been some cover ups with regard to bookies (now "ex") taking advantage of certain situations for their own gain.
  10. IT Manager resigned reliable sources say. Mmmmm when will the finger be pointed at those who chose the damn system!

  11. I see it hasn't improved the pools at those obscure Yankie races.
  12. That is not correct. The rule is that those sporting bodies that have a national organization will receive the profits from related sports. For example profits from Basketball betting goes to the NZ Basketball Association.
  13. Well any decent project team would have managed the cutover without any downtime.
  14. There are already warning signs that it will be a cock up. Seems they need to migrate accounts to the new system and they have indicated that you need to re-login.....
  15. In terms of corruption the rumour mill says the TAB already have had employment issues which makes the alleged race fixing look like a non event.
  16. Yeah the TAB are probably miffed that he told everyone that Felaar is not contesting the Auckland Cup! The way he talks it up it must be a good money earner for the bookies!
  17. I can't work out why anyone would have their Christmas Do there when the owner publishes what happens on the internet!
  18. But aren't you then rewarding incompetence and penalising excellence? "Apparently dropped $100k" - was that one of their marketing spiels where "wow the punters got into the bookies today" - well it can't of been on the tote because as we all know the tote always makes a profit. Actually the NZ tote makes more of a profit than any other tote. So FF betting was where they dropped $100k. Seems they didn't adjust the book quick enough or was the spreadsheet on a go slow? Couldn't they lay more off on the tote? In their words they regularly lose large sums on Sports Betting particularly when the All Blacks win. They are in the business of managing wagering risk. They deserve to go out of business if they are not good at it.
  19. Well that's the difference between here and Australia. There the Stipes would be paying a visit and suspending the horse from the market. Contrary to some little people's belief don't everyone visits an online forum or drinks at the Viaduct.
  20. But the TAB hasn't done EVERYONE a favour by suspending the horse from the market. Why not?
  21. I would have thought that if an owner tells the world that their horse is not contesting a particular race that has future odds posted the TAB would suspend betting on that particular horse? Isn't that what integrity is all about? Or if the horse does race in that particular race would questions be asked?
  22. I hear a minority owner in Felaar announced last night at a TAB Christmas Do that Felaar wasn't going to contest the next Auckland Cup. I guess we will see FOB betting suspended on Felaar now?
