  1. One of racing and lifes great characters. Will be many a great yarn told at that funeral.I could tell a few about Doug as I am sure Hunterthepunter could especially about the old Ashburton trial days. Some of them were marathon sessions Most involving the Tinwald tavern and other drinking establishments
  2. happy I just studied the sectionals and definitely not tame.Outstanding time and there were some great sectionals from quite a few horses. I don't think Star Galleria was ever a real chance in the cup despite the early money on him.
  3. Matt Cross said on trackside that none of the drivers were happy with the start.Drivers said all horses were ready and he made them stand and a lot got on backfoot then. Starters so inconsistent, some races they walk in some they make them stand.
  4. After that race only 3 NZ chances are Ultimate Machete,The Fixer and Eamon Maguire. Add the Aussies and you got the Quaddie
  5. Yep I got on this morning. Also Turn it Up in race 10.Bigwraps from stable Good chance of an All Stars trifecta or even F4 in race 10.With 6 horses in.
  6. Sea Rover big chance tomorrow at Ashvegas. Has been going good at trials and workouts and with nice draw paying great place money $14 /$4.20
  7. The All Stars horses build ups to the cup are Generally a long affair. The Machete and the likes will peak on Cup day much like Adore Me did in 2014 and Lazarus in 2016. Average lead up form from Adore Me but had the polish on.I know that Mark thinks Ultimate Machete the best of theirs and yet their other horses have won 3 of the lead up races. Will see a different horse tomorrow. At this stage I won't be backing anything else in the cup
  8. I remember we had a bit of a farewell at Ashburton racecourse for him when he left.Organised by Mid Canterbury OTB association i think it was.Slim got date wrong and when he hadn't turned up after a while someone went and picked him up.But that night he made a point of going around and talking to everyone.I had only been working in a stable for about a month but he spoke to me like a long lost friend. Heard some great stories that night from the likes of Doody Townley,Jim Ferguson,Frank Bebbington and Ripper Reed.
  9. Monbet quite special, unbeatable on his day.Unsoundness has stopped him from being one of the greats

    Methven

Was hoping to be there but organising flights for whanau to Auckland for a funeral taking longer than expected

    Methven

Going on past meetings as well mate.I have spent a lot of time at Methven and they just don't make ground from back at the turn and win anymore. I could be wrong ,I suppose we will know at the end of the day but I will predict that all but maybe 1 /2 races will be won by first 4 horses turning for home

    Methven

First 4 horses at turn first 4 home.Methven never been the same since they shortened the straight,a definite leaders bias has been evident last few meets.Punt accordingly
  13. r4 Huey lewis @ 13s r5 Belmonts Greatest @ 19s r10 Tehoro Tease @ 35s All over the odds
  14. Agree totally,i would be surprised if Allstars started all of theirs at Kaikoura, and over the years there always seem to be a few at Kaikoura only there for the run .
  15. Pretty sure oldest progeny only just turned 4 so really only had 2 crops to race yet.Bit early to say he a failure yet
  16. I would hardly call Auckland Reactor a failure with already 2 Group 1winners in Chase Auckland and Gold Reactor and was leading first season sire in Australia 2 years ago.Has already had a few promising 2&3 year olds at trials this season.Too early to say where his career will head yet

    Mot today

Lotamuscle impressive, Eureka went ok being only just beaten after a perfect run. Paddy Me will need an easy lead to win a race I think, but had the money on it Habibti Inta was always going to struggle if it became a sprint home Not sure why Nancys boy paid $3on tote,i thought be at about $1.80 and won like a $1.80 shot
  18. Agree with all them points.I don't bet on them myself but have taken them as quaddie/treble legs before
  19. A tip in a amateur drivers race.wow Brodie widening your scope of tipping

Just a few to keep the coffers ticking over R2 Lotamuscle-well bred and master trainer, has been improving with each workout/trial R3 Eureka-nice trials/workout form behind some smart ones R4-Paddy Me -Will love the track and big chance, probably at long odds ,if it can get to the front R7-Habibti Inta-Top trotter that should win if anywhere near best R11-Nancy Boy-Has been going great ,only downside is the draw
  22. I hope they let him back in
  23. I have been analysing Brodies posts and as he is my idol I just want to be on the money, just like him.
  24. So are you saying if you have tattoos you are a bogan or are you saying that only bogans partake in drug taking?
  25. Yes you guys are right,it didn't happen and was all made up and how dear the Allstars hire somebody who has tattoos or partakes in drug taking And by the way, there was no racefixing either ,that is just a rumour that gained momentum and started by Donald Trump because he wants to take over HRNZ and the easiest way is to make it look as though the industry is in disarray. And of course there is and never has been any drug taking in Harness racing stables because we are all clean living people. ?
