Victoria Derby 2021: Great Betting Race!
Joe Bloggs replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
NM, he's a Savabeel...a Savabeel, 2500? Now I know Mahogany won it, and easily and he was a Last Tycoon from an Alydar mare [which helps], and 3yo's can sometimes overcome the adversity of having a Dad that just doesn't get winners over a Classic distance, however, if it was an Oaks and Forgot You was a filly I would bend ever so gently as Savabeel's females are so superior to his colts.......if he wins I'll send you a nude selfie of me and Kylie Minogue having an early morning swim on the Goldie.....there you go, how's that for confidence. -
Will Incentivise do a Vow and Declare? Lay him at your peril.

Gay's never short of an opinion or story, been great for racing and Tom would be proud, she's a year younger than me and I can remember her when she was an actress on 'Young Doctors' she did acting work for a while in the UK in the 70's also, just can't forgive her for marrying a Waterhouse, .......her Dad forgave her, but I struggle....... -
I seem to be championing your posts NM, but I'd just like to say that if there were more like you racing wouldn't be where it is today. You should have put yourself forward for a board or committee or something even more valuable, like a senior position at Petone as sure as hell they need someone with fortitude and passion/knowledge to turn this ship around. I'm sure Freda and Reefton would concur, you don't have a likes to posts quota such as you have if you don't have support. You'll probably say your an old fart and it's too late, but Saundry is an old fart and too late, as are Saundry's peers, it's just that they are also useless and have caused hundreds of industry people to look for fresher fields. I'm asked every Raceday here on the coast as to what has happened to NZ racing, I've a nosebleed from telling them same old, same old, and they all just shake their heads. My mate owns a share in Daralina Belle who's very much in the market for Saturdays Four Pillars at Rosehill, he wanted to race a horse with us in NZ, he now owns a share in a filly we have brought here from NZ, he has 4 mates that wanted in also, when they learned the inside story as to the decline of racing over there they walked away, all lost investors to NZ racing....how many more, Brian de Lore writes once a month, it will take more than that to shift the useless buggers out of their cosy little cartels and cliques, at least you get up em NM and I just hope you never let up, such a brilliant and successful industry/sport just destroyed by incompetency and mismanagement.
-
Well someone has to pay Bernies wages so if it's an arm and a leg, after all, it's all in a good cause.
-
The only way that might happen NM is a broom, a clean out, starting at the very top, and until all the old faded gazillionaires AKA The Northern Cartel move on to that great drinking house in the sky it will remain status quo.
-
To get people to go to Trentham in numbers and continuously you'd need to perform about 300K lobotomies I'd reckon, better off running luxury shuttles with free food, dancing girls, and male strippers over the hill to Tauherenikau and do it right!
-
I should add, I was gobslmaked he didn't say me when referring to the worst.......he'd mellowed heaps by then tho.
-
You see Chief that's where it's all arse about face, Saundry, who doesn't know which end kicks, is on mega bucks and yet there is no reasonable/attractive salary for a real good ex jock with personal skills to take on that role......it's so bloody rooted it's sick.
-
The girls/ladies rode the card at Toowoomba Sat night, without them QLD racing would be in dire straights, the bloody Sheilas hold this industry together......bless em.
-
During the last conversation I had with one BF Deacon I asked him who was the best rider he saw during his lifetime in NZ, without hesitation he said MRC.........the worst I inquired.........D Walsh was the reply........Deac didn't suffer fools, why he didn't rate Walsh surprised me, but I never pushed him.
-
Why isn't Mouse the riding master? did he tell them all to get fucked?
-
I-50 was the best they bet, she might just sneak a black type sometime this season, might just be the winter carnival NM, ''you never never know if you never never go''!

Being the icon that is, The Gold Coast on a brilliant day like today has to rely on the visitors down from Brisbane for the day, it's busy, but not like it was, Coolangatta is worse, the cafes and pubs have done it hard, so many closed never to re-open, Monday to Friday it looks like a deserted movie set, there has been suicides and bankruptcies as you have had in NZ, but the press is heavily behind Queen Anne, so little reported, at night to see the high rise hotels with very few lights on is disheartening and it will take years to recover. Queenstown maybe able to empathise, but the Goldie is a 365 day 24/7 holiday icon, and everyone is so looking forward to the international flights coming back.......NZ will be first, from the South Island, so Freda has no excuse, come over and get a suntan, great cheap food, half the price of Queenstown, and racing every Sat by the sea........

And Surfers is still a ghost town!
-
Its now 35, are ya jealous.....?

About 73/74 NM, I think they may have lived in the house K Zimmerman moved into......they came from Hawera, I had my first race ride for them, Ben Conway, no big deal, just wondering and melting here as it's 33 today and 100% humidity.....the water temp is already 22 for Gods sake.
-
BTW, do any of you good buggers that live near Otaki remember the 'Ewans'? They lived on or near the track apparently, a way long time ago though.
-
Should win again at Port Macquarie today, R4 she's 1-50 fav and has the race at her mercy, good luck to the connections.

Its only 5-30am here NM and yet here I am reading about what's happening here with all our corruption inquiries, it's rotten from the top.
-
No, I think you got it right, money does that to people, I still see a lot of trainers over here driving modest cars or Utes, especially the country trainers, the jockey's car park looks vastly different.

Remind me again re the Panama Papers, NZ was heavily implicated in that, it was so easy to wash black money in 'lil ole NZ'' and it all started just after the GFC. Most of NZ 's banks are surcasals of Aussie banks, so the clever bastards used NZ as a washing machine......me thinks it's still happening cos Ardern wouldn't know and her lieutenants aren't good enough.
-
I hate to be negative as there are a lot of good common sense decisions/initiatives within this, however, beware a Greek bearing gifts. The Elephant in the room, where is the money coming from, this reminds me of Christmas, and the parents that have a house full of kids and a smouldering wreck of a credit card. The kids have to have a lovely Chrissie, so the spend is on, repaying the CC later is put on the top shelf until the bank comes calling, it's all too familiar, the keeping of some of these great tracks is great, they listened, maybe through fear more than good business acumen but at least it's a start. Now to woo a new breed of punter and to reinvigorate those that have deserted in droves.
