  1. Who's policing the police? They are unaccountable, so it will continue....sadly.
  2. Oh and NO matinee [barrier trials] either, if BF Deacon said you were ready to ride in races, you were. How many BF Deacon's are there out there now though.
  3. I had 15 rides [I think] before being allowed to carry a whip, and to ride a 2yo, but that was when racing was run by real racing people....real, real etc etc.
  4. Have a look at the ride on Joy Alone in the race just run, what was Riddell thinking, that was a slaughter, on a horse first up, thats a gut buster, owner if Baker is a happy Chappy.
  5. Bandage on near hind NM, got clipped from the winner when she came out off the fence as you saw, pulled up a treat though and J Mac pretty impressed......he was reprimanded though, no suspension as he straightened straight away.....said the stipes......
  6. It's Me has been turned out. Her tendon looks brilliant, this is the second time she damaged it and the rehab was amazing and I mean amazing. They thought to push her toward the Kossie was just not going to work and with the massive prize money available they erred on the side of caution. She'll be back, only a month if I recall, and if she can replicate that turn of foot she'll win a Gr1 mares at least.
  7. Just need to add to that, my mate is an owner, I've just spoken to him, he's also in the filly we brought across from NZ earlier this year, he's also in It's Me, he's one of the luckiest buggers I know, he's happy with the ride, I've just heard the audio from Matt Smith, he's happy too......when J Mac let her head go she floundered, she's that talented she surprised James the way she fought to the line, the winner is no slouch and is bred to be a muddy......they are excited going forward, bring on the 4 pillars!!
  8. What a weak arsed owners association sanctioning that MO.........Kawanka, all well and good Vella and co getting richer off that folly, but it's revenue lost to the grassroots industry, they want to run a magic millions type race then fund it themselves.
  9. Geez you rant far more eloquently than I, I'm bloody jealous.
  10. Geez you're a pedantic, argumentative bugger aren't you? Ok, I've trained more winners than you at the Valley, I'll bet, we lived a stones throw from 'Money' Valley and as I trained for one of the biggest punters in VIC at the time I had to get it right, so we walked the track before the dosh went on, I know that track backwards, and although tricky most horses get around the Valley ok, it's the jockeys that get it wrong, some of the visiting jocks get lost HR, lost, so I'm just trying to explain it how I see it.....and have done from the 70's through to now.
  11. Well, the fact he's been questioned over some of his rides recently is fact, it's on record, open inquiries even, and as for Caulfield, I spent 5 years there as foreman in one of the biggest stables in Melbourne during the early 80's, and actually witnessed what I wrote, walked the track so many times, and tragically lost the best horse I ever trained there, so I'm better placed than you to comment.....IMO of course.
  12. Caulfield brings more horses undone than does the Valley inc the great Kingston Town, and, some of Mac's rides recently have raised eyebrows and caused him to troop into the stewards warren, that's fact, not supposition.
  13. He actually trained a double so he's made a cracking start.
  14. Snagged his first winner when Swing The Tide bolted in on Sat at Port Macquarie, hot fav so no value, but she'll win many more me thinks.
  15. In all honesty Probabeel should be fav for the Cox Plate after yesterday, I lived a stones throw from the Valley, trained a few winners there, walked the track many times, feel if Incetivise goes to the Plate he might not be suited, the pressure goes on there a long way out, he's a super good horse I'm not knocking him, but the mare has the racing pattern to suit that track......IMO, if I was the Lindsay's I'd be getting really excited.
  16. Makybe though from 2000 onward would be untouchable.
  17. I'd be dropping Black Caviar out of it over a mile, FWIW I think Sunline was a superior mare to all of those mentioned above, I actually think Showgate would have beaten them all bar Sunline, but hey, that's just me thinking out loud.
  18. Hypothetical, who would win a 2 horse match race over a mile with equal weights, Melody Belle or Sunline?
  19. Ah, but they have lovely committee rooms with top nosh!
  20. I hope you stuck Huey, it's been a big day for them over here, getting 5-1 about that mare was wondrous......Zaki was a pretender, she proved that.
  21. Some of those advising him were expats who really didn't have a handle on how things were, they lived in a bubble, Messara is a clever bugger, I'm sure he didn't do what he did out of the goodness of his heart, but in all reality it's become the greatest tragedy in NZ racing history........and you know it.
  22. I did! 1000 guineas winner going around at that price, I had to punish the bookies NM.
  23. The biggest problem was replacing Greg Purcell with Saundry, racing was a declining as a snowball with Greg at the helm, but he was being steered by a goose in AKL, in comes Saundry and the snowball became an avalanche. The Timaru scenario is farcical, it shows the ineptitude of Petone, if they were Men enough they would indeed put their hands up and say ''we got it wrong'', but that would mean taking ownership, and that's transparency, so that's never going to happen. The trainers association is a paper tiger, they need to do a Vox-populi with the racing industry and take the ultimatum to Petone, but like most things, too hard basket. It's just a travesty, I feel sorry for the good buggers of SI racing, but you needed to be more vociferous, militant even, it didn't happen, and the trainer who doesn't like to travel, well he must be kicking back and smirking.
