Dalgety Warns Punters - Brodie hold all bets!
Gammalite replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Trotting Chat
Seems the Dunn stable is still struggling a bit as you blokes noticed through this thread. still nothing in first place over the Timaru and Banks Peninsula meetings. However Carter Dalgety is driving super well , as am just watching the replays from yesterday he had 2 drives for 2 Wins and has Excellent 'Style' he has, as he drives them to the line . was a bit like the Dexter or Cam Hart 'style' and it paid off as both horses responded well for him and took the wins . HARRISON in race 6 and BETTERWITHBLING in race 8. Don't think either horse would of won without the 'Carter' great hands , and Brodster definitely Put us on to a good one there (giving Carter a plug a few times) . What they Should of done is popped on the Plane to Brisbane with KRUG and REPUBLICAN PARTY and get some wins up and Carter's career and confidence rolling along like Cam Hart's. Can't win the Interdominion sitting in your box/ stall at home. darn Grimson has won the last 2 Interdom grand finals with 'battlers' and it's worth a Million dollars this year. those 2 horses would clean up the locals. well maybe not beating LEAP TO FAME . but there's other heats. such a shame they didn't come. (Krug has done well here before) -
New Zealand Trotting Derby . (re-branded Queensland Derby)
Gammalite posted a topic in Trotting Chat
The trotters Derby at Addington might see a Queenslander there taking the spoils. NOT AS PROMISED set to make the trip !!πβ€οΈ Last nights Breeders Crown Winner at Melton (and also recent Group 1 Victoria Derby winner) is set to sail across to smoke the locals there too? Nathan Dawson , the current Australian Drivers Championship winner this season, set to take on the kiwis at Addington. Addington unable to repel the SWAYZEE raid recently ....NZ Cup raid. So let's send a QUEENSLANDER (Q for Quality lol) and get some more Blue Riband kiwi honours ππΎ. Nz Trotting Derby ! Excellento !!π any horses left racing there ? Need a handy 3 year old trotter to hold him out .. sounds like he's coming over from an article today >>>>>>>>>>> across the ditch for Not As Promisedβs shot at the New Zealand Trotting Derby on December 10. βItβs been a very good few weeks, but thereβs a lot of pressure and Iβm just so glad to get it over and done with. We got the job done, which is the main thing,β Layne said. βNew Zealand is next week and hopefully we can do the same there.β Not As Promised has now won nine of 15 career starts for more than $100,000 in prizemoney. Dawsonβs 381st winner this season was also the fifth Group 1 of his career. -
and the winners are .... Trainer Emma Stewart takes out all 4 pacing divisions with the 2year old colt 'Timmy Rictor' being the most impressive. and all the Breeders Crown pacing finals were won in about a 1.55 MR. The trotters were very steady and trotting only about 2.00 MR without any Nz opponents. Ex=pat kiwi John Newberry training the 3 year old trotting filly Breeders Crown winner . NORDIC REIGN driven by son Matthew. The Newberry family were in Clevedon South AKLD, for many years and won the Dominion trot Group 1 once with Cal Brydon. John spent a few years in QLD too and in the early ninties remember racing against him many times where he won about 50 races with BRYDON DUKE .The 'Duke' frequently competing against old Auckland Cup winner COMEDY LAD who won about 50 races as well. Last nights Breeders Crown would be John's biggest win for decades. ex-pat Nzer and trotter specialist Brent Lilley had 5 x breeders crown trotting finalists but they all ran unplaced.

Once a Happy hunting ground for some Nz Winners. Nothing for Nz again this year in all the Big Group 1 Finals tonight at Melton. Nz harness has quickly retreated into it's shell and barely get a runner in these features these days. There's Barely a horse coming to the $1,000,000 Interdominion next month at Brisbane. run out of Winning vibes with Allblacks and BlackCaps falling short I suppose. Emma Stewart stable won an Incredible 7 of the 8 semi-finals last week and beaten a neck in the other by the Captain Ravishing man Freddie Taiba with his good colt Nathan Street. sure to feel the wrath of the 'Stewart barn' in race 5 as the whole front line comes at him (along with a ex-pat kiwi Kyle Marshall horse too) Think Emma Stewart qualified ALL 15 horses they had in the Four Semi finals . πππ. an Outstanding Achievement, The Galah will even enjoy that ?ππ only a few short years ago 2013-2018 era New Zealand Trained horses were winning these races!!!. Dexter with 'BIT OF A Legend' a couple of times , and KATY Perry' for the Dalgetty's. ....Mark Purdon was sending home in first place 'Follow The Stars' and 'WAIKIKI Beach' in the 2 yearold colts... and 'Our Dream About Me', PARTYon and PRINCESS Tiffany in the 2 year old fillies division's ...... and BOOSTING Nz breeding accordingly. The last 4 years or so Emma Stewart nearly clean sweeping them . including winning with stars Act Now, Ladies In Red and Encipher . so have nearly shoved Nz out of the picture altogeather .. come on boys !!(and girls) show some fight and get back in the Mix ?.

A job for @gammalite? Applications open for new driving tutors
Gammalite replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Trotting Chat
A great effort by the juniors in the trot art Auckland race 1 . only a neck between the first 4 odd as they all gave their charge , a chance at victory. wow only small fields tonight. see Harrison writing in here thread, but/because No Telfer runners are starting at the races . Why not? . the prize money is good .money for jam. spose half the card is trots (4 races) so a bit more specialist approach is needed then. Bernie Hackett with only 6 trotters in across the 4 races ?? wonder what's happened to all the horses? couldn't of knocked off for summer yet surely lol...πποΈ best time of year racing now , and no-one there racing ? we used to do 20 horses between 3 of us at a stable South Auckland once. Don't they train horses to get to the races anymore much? some of those North stables only have a 'handful' of runners any month these days. -

Think you're right there mate. Upon viewing a lot of races it is hard to fault the endeavour of the young drivers these days. They dominate in NSW and Brisbane these days (20- 33 year olds) Grant now one of the last 'old boys ' π that goes around regularly, at about Mark Purdons age. You have commented on Carter D already, hardly puts in a bad one (drive) . Sarah O'reilly on the Methven Cup winner early October, was an outstanding 10/10 drive on American Me , who wasn't a favoured runner either, but she drove so well that she won easily in the end by over 2 lengths against some of NZ's top drivers and some handy horses (including Franco Indie) . Cameron Hart only about 25 years old as well and won 4 Group 1's last year , and I'm losing count this year . Is like Tony Herlihy at that age. Quality is great I reckon in both countries . Don't think there's more you can tell them really ? π€ (as far as tutoring goes). just a case of keeping some quantity going as well as quality . A few more races for juniors only (like the first at Alexandra Park this afternoon) never hurt anyone and maybe just keep carding races like that helps out the youngsters. I see lately that Jeremy Young is using junior Monika Ranger on the handy mare Lady Of The Light instead of Maurice .....and it's reaping big rewards too . and she's winning a few. Hope they win again tonight in race 6. Best of luck to them .... helps make a driver when they can get confidence like that with drives that can Win. -

hahaha π love your work Blackie. The Tute's are over in No time with that great advice . hope they pay us well and I'll be able to get to the bar first for refreshments knowing the 'new gen' of drivers are in great stead and knowledge of how to get to the finish line first !! Cam Hart (winning the Cup last week) must be tuned into my podcasts already? ππ€£ we pulled Natalie Ras off driving the mini-trotters a few years back in QLD , then gave her a few wins (on 'Blacks A Fake' mainly) for a bit of confidence, then cut her loose on the Nz lads/lasses for a few years for a few more wins.... Has she backed off on them yet ?π -
Think Forb's was saying the trainers 'consult' with so-called Scientific genius's Chief. The examples Forbury uses are good . Lance Armstrong was tested constantly and rigidly, but the cycling world was only brought down by a Team-mates confessions after years of Top level and 'Millions of dollars' with winning performances. They had scientific genius on the Cycle Squad. They DIDn't even care the 'Drug Cheat accusation was flying thick and fast every race. They had the Lab testing beat !! as well as the opponent. You can bet your bottom dollar ALL the cycle teams to this day have 'scientific Genius' as a main man of each and every team for them to back up day after day on those Grand Tours. Horses not so different. They have phases of milkshakes etorphine, caffiene, arsenic, etc etc, etc as the years go by. eventually testing catches up with the masking. JUST Like Armstrong the cyclist, some Trainers are 'Beating the testing Lab' just as much as 'Beating opponents horses on the track'. π I love the fact you defend each and every one of the 'Grimson' spectacular performances , feeling the full brunt of it in NZ now, as he beats the near best on the planet in Marky P in the Cup. Cam Hart is doing a great job steering them though. π.π. might be just out-driving them ? π€π
-
C'mon Chief . you don't need a 'home lab' to tinker with... let's call it 'nutrition' for your horse with the supplements, additives and on occasion PED that are added to it. Forb's said this >>>>" I believe that this is what happened with Grimson he was approached by a scientist chemistry vet etc who has the real deal goods story over." sounds reasonably possible. Nearly All the galloping Trainers have science chemistry experts assisting. Chris Waller has special feed mixes. remember he had a 'contaminated batch recently' with steroids and 3 Positive swabs resulted . He was fined $30,000 and Not Disqualified like anyone else would of been, because he's Superman. They made the Feed Company take the wrap lol.... I find it interesting that a feed company has Steroids as part of their mix , or on the premises at all . must be the chemist lol... What cocktail you put in your syringe is even easier to do. Hey a bit like any human can tinker with 'health and performance ' for themselves , you tinker with the supplements you use daily. To run better. and you don't need a 'lab' to do that. Just a good scientist/chemist /doctor that gives you the latest goods/technology (and masking agent too is important these days)

Feels like just last week mate . ππ here's the fastest horse EVER in Australasia in Photo . think that it's more recent π€. Trainer Tim Butt . Driver Anthony Butt . what a great team. they're handy with a horse. The 4 huge Group 1 Victories of mark Purdons Allstars this Cup week show their ability , and that is quite recent too. But superceded by Jason Grimson.? on their home deck. Well I spose Australia Baggie Greens just did it to India in the cricket overnight. (Superceded them on their home deck) .. so things are possible if you try. old mate Vinny Knight would of loved it for sure. ( the great man Vinny only 2nd in the Nz Cup with his throw at the stumps though )
-
Then why did Swayzee lose form? Well I don't know why Tim couldn't get that horse going early this year in the Autumn . Is Possibly the reason it was so hard to Believe he could beat Mark Purdon on Nz tracks . Tim a 'Proven Trainer ' of stayers . Check out these Hunter Cup Winners ππ. The Australian Feature stayers race of the calender year. Tim Butt can sure produce a Winner . The HUNTER Cup Also won for New Zealand by Blossom Lady twice and several other Nz stars. Lazarus, Yulestar, Smolda, and Elsu . These 4 also winning the INTERDOMINION pacing Grand Final . Let's hope we DON't have to enter SWAYZEE (the moderate performer ππ) onto the list of Hunter Cup nor Interdominion winners list anytime soon, where great names like 'Gammalite' and 'Blacks A Fake' linger π π Recent Hunter Cup winners >>>>>>>>> Trainer Driver 2014 3280m Christen Me (NZ) Cran Dalgety Dexter Dunn 1:59.2 2013 3280m Mah Sish (NZ) Tim Butt Anthony Butt 1:59.2 2012 3280m Choise Achiever (NZ) Tim Butt Anthony Butt 1:59.9 2011 3280m Stunnin Cullen (NZ) Tim Butt Anthony Butt 2:01.1 2010 3065m Bondy (NZ) David Butt David Butt 2:01.7 2009 3065m Mr Feelgood (USA) Tim Butt Anthony Butt 1:59.3 2008 3065m Blacks A Fake Natalie Rasmussen Natalie Rasmussen 1:58.9

Well speaking of 'Cup Day' (and an Aussie Win) Swayzee unknown by most ..... But it's WORLD CUP One Day Cricket Cup final Day too !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Australia Win !!!!! what a great tournament. ππ and beat a billion Indians for my b'day treat. The Black caps went great and only beaten 6 runs in a very high scoring match during the rounds , which was a cracker, and India just got a few too many runs for Nz as well in the Semi. But some great fielding by the Aussies restricted INDIA to 240 and the 130,000 Indian fans at the ground to silence for last hour, and great b'day treat for Gamma, and finally a century to TRAVIS HEAD and it's VICTORY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wahoooooo Nine on the TROT and Cup Day Win number 2 for the week !!!!!!!!!!!!!! wacko smacko πππΎπ

In the Big Dominion Trot Mark didn't bother with those silly Nasal strips to pull the horses nostrils open with OSCAR B. Was a Bit unusual as Allstars normally use them . And he (Oscar Bonevena) won real easy !!! Smokin Bandar trainer (and Herlihy with BOLT for Brilliance) used the stupid things and were well beat in the placings. You can see them in the photo below. Just Shows you don't need em' . wish they were banned like at the gallops. Horses look silly with them on π Poor old RESOLVE not looking is best in the 'Deadpool' outfit running 3rd either .π
-
Well i've got mine in my water bottle chief ππ Tim Butt is pretty good trainer . Had cup class horses for decades. What about the trainers of all the others ? Betterzippit trainer couldn't win Manawatu. suddenly beats some of the very best in Australia at Gloucester Park . Hope that's not like 'elephant' Juice in action... that was scary. hope Camel Juice isn't going do be the next big thing for the horse . might come as sugar cubes. π One Hump or 2 ?π€£

They were desparate to win the race Chief . (Swayzee that is ) If you can get PED or aids in Aus , can't see why you can't in NZ ? Horse Swayzee went exceptional over 2 miles. As for Cya Art , *8 lengths clear of 3rd as they ripped home in 26 seconds. The winner is an exceptional colt of Mark Purdons and has won 11 of 13 starts to date. and Will Be Winning the Blue Riband NZ Derby next month too !! unless GRIMSON starts something in it , he found on the Canterbury backblocks ?? hahaππ€£π° (a Betterzippit 1/2 brother or something ?) lol ....

Doesn't Win Any feature races whatsover. Not even in home state Tassie where they go slow. Doesn't even win any metro races. Yole is NO comparison to Grimson. Grimson is beating Allstars (now that he took care of Australia's true best in McCarthy and Emma Stewart in the last 2 Interdominions ,.(with battlers that Have not won since ) Grimson not being able to hold the form with them is a TELLING FACTOR. Betterzippit another great example this year winning the feature $1,000,000 race in the west , then What ??

Swayzee winning the Cup. so funny. Still struggle to believe he could beat AKUTA. Here's his last start at a Queensland provincial track Redcliffe, in April this year 2023. None of these horses usually good enough to even start at the city track Albion Park. Swayzee getting home in less than 30 seconds last 1/4 , beaten 35m, picking up 60 bucks . Doing well for Riley Butt and ex-pat Nzer 'Lyell Creek' trainer Tim Butt . Doing a great job. young Nathan. He was pretty cool customer in Aus for a while . Had good filly Amore Vita going great guns around the place for her NZ owners. winning a string of 2 and 3 ear old features. (horse now with Emma Stewart and won 5 from 10 this year) think Mark is playing thoroughbred trainer ? thee days .....and Nathan doing a bit of the 'hard' yards now that HaydenCullen has moved on. Natalie had a medical procedure a couple of months back, and was hoping to be back driving this month there, but wasn't recovered enough to do so. Olivia Thornley got the chance to Win another Group 1 anyway , with Chase the Dream. she got lucky with timing arriving by a nose from stablemates , as might of drawn criticism if beaten as was a 'mile' back final bend. still a wins a win so well done Olivia . some never Win a Group One in their career. so congrats to Olivia for getting it home.
-
she (Skew Wiff) went real good really, she came from near last round the whole lot . not far off 3rd. was good field too. That winner was enormous MAGIC TIME and old kiwi hoop Mickey Dee (one of my favourites) take the win impressively. Jmac won the Thousand Guinea's for Waller too. great day for NZ galloping blokes still π. Mickey Dee has won 3 races actually.. great stuff.
-
Well that winner won well Chief. We had fleeting coverage on sky via sportsbet just now as after MAHRAJAAN crossed the line the coverage just shows connections in the stand. they looked nice happy everyday folk . so was nice to see. winner has had just 16 starts too (for 3 wins) so good training effort to win a NZ Cup with small history like that ? excellent winning ride too ....
-
So there we have it Oscar B in the trot + Millwood Nike + Self Assured + Chase a dream win 4 of the Group 1's with Akuta + Akuta + We Walk By Faith + Madrid 4 lots of second placings in Group 1's. Don't Stop Dreaming won the Group 3 Junior FFA as well (so is NZ Derby Favourite now) so picked up about $300,000 on each of the 2 days from that lot above- combined. TOTAL approx $600,000 earned from 6 fantastic Group 1's. *****funnily enough the winner of the 'Thousand Guinea's' in about an hour 's time at Caulfield and is full of fillies no one has ever heard of, and that have only won one or 2 races and some are maidens even lol.... . $900,000 awaits the winner for one gallop of about 1 minute 36 seconds or so in the mile race. Hardly seems fair ? when you think of the hours and miles and wins and work that went into the $600,000 that was earned by Allstars this week from all those AMazing Performances. so many awesome races

$130,000 Flying Fillies 3 year old FINAL Mark taking No Chances here . Putting the Aussie on the Rank outsider from the outside gate π. No way was Cam beating him from there ? but was a good 5th for the ALLStars anyway . $315,000 Dominion Handicap Trot . Well this is a 10/10 for the great team . ALLStars crushing the opponents with old Oscar. remember last year he started in a support race (and won) because he wasn't good enough to defeat Sundee's Son . so great work to improve him to these levels lately .
