  1. Give me Group 6 Gamma..safety in numbers, team driving, blood thicker than water, yadda yadda, all that.
  2. Thanks for the entertainment today Gamma , A+ 👍. ps As R Cameron once told me, the race is only to the winning post Gamma, psst, lucky save indeed.
  3. Trying to avoid what the Aussie has picked...😎. Hardly classic fields that use to be a highlight of the calender. Race 1/ 1-12 Race 2/ 13-16 Race 3/ 12-14 Race 4/ 5-6 Race 5/ 8-9 Race 6/ 5-6 Race 7/ 12-14 Race 8/ 7-9 Race 9/ 10-15 Race 10/ 4-10 Race 11/ 7-10
  4. ‘‘Twas sitting in the Old Steward stand just after winning post, unfolded right in front of us, all rushed down trying to help, was horrendous. Robert Mitchell , Paleface Tryax, grabbed one and held it it for awhile, then had to let it go as the rein kept slipping through his hand, great piece of horsemanship. They said Naval Officer was a lucky Derby winner, so Mike DeFilipi to prove a point, came out in that horses very next race , let him run, and won by 14 lengths as I recall!
  5. Gammalite raising the IQ of both countries when he emigrated(courtesy R Muldoon).
  6. Looks like your fav Aussie steering your fav NZer in the big go Gamma, forgotten horse I reckon.
  7. That’ll be ‘she’ work for the All stars now? Aussies, no surprises there..🙄
  8. I’ll be in. Just waiting to see what Marky boy is swinging the rudder behind….
  9. ….Jason Grimson. The five-year-old made it five wins from just six starts for training phenomenon Jason Grimson when he won by a huge space and smashed the clock. Betterzippit worked to the front and sailed away to win by 13.7m in a 1min48.6sec mile – that’s 0.2sec faster than Catch A Wave went to win last month’s Miracle Mile. Lifetime NZ 28 starts 5wins 3seconds 3thirds
  10. Wow, well done $133k, party at your house?
  11. Well I think a cash injection of 100-150 million at a guess would be good for all three codes, harness would get a share of that. We are small fish compared to the Aussies, and are starting from a low base, so any increase would be expotential in comparision. The Galah, have we an alternative? This should of happened years ago , the successive TAB excutives have pissed any windfall that we could have had up against the wall. If we keep doing the same, we keep getting the same result. I say, give it to someone who knows what they are doing, we can't seem to find them here. Rumour has it that the government has come calling for it's $70m back that Winston rescued us with, apparently it may of had strings attached.
  12. This is a life saver Brodie. Should have happened years ago. NZ racing will be treated just like another state of Aussie, with a multimillion windfall, so that the grassroots can race for more money.
  13. Could be Happy Hour at The Lone Star . Go SOSL
  14. It’ll all be sorted when the TAB gets outsourced.
  15. Nah, I’m glad I’m called Blackie ‘cause that’s what everyone calls me. 😎
  16. I quite like that metaphor for some reason.
  17. Those Aussies been cutting the hopples again Gamma?
  18. Agree with you Gamma. Its up to someone to take the track off you if you are leading. You either accept the challenge or you don’t.
  19. Murphy blind are excellent at keeping a horses head straight if fitted right, see so many fitted wrong. If you block the forward vision of one eye, horse has to turn its head to see in front of them. Hole is so that they can see what’s beside them, and stops getting them keen. Just another tool in the arsenal and have there place, probably used a little less here because we race a lot closer than the USA.
  20. Grant Crabbe’s champion mare Shartin right there.
  21. Nothing new there, Gamma reeling on back foot. Nothing new about attendance either, takes something special to get bums on seats. Was at a meeting, must’ve been mid ‘90’s, Under Cover Lover had just come back from the States, Courage Under Fire going round, Christian Cullen to top it off, hardly anyone there. Lord Module, now, different story, excitement machine, use to pack them out on his name alone.
  22. I think the CEO was put in a no win situation, after all , he has the final call when it’s down to that number. He would have been call a hypocrite if he’d called it off, but allowed a 4 horse go at Cambridge earlier in the year.
  23. Hi Gamma, Happy New Year. I , like you, are the eternal optimist, but for about the last 10 years I’ve been watching the slow decline of an industry I love, wether it be bad management, financial considerations, social norms becoming abnormal, a decrease in foal numbers( big one), all the above is intrinsically linked to one another, and if all involved don’t have the confidence, it’s all got the feel of a sunset industry. People, and I mean everyone involved, have sat on their hands and let it ride. Those in charge haven’t the kahoona’s to make the really tough calls, Winston Peters gave us a chance(God bless, a Racing Minister on our side, here’s 70 m to pay off your debt), but has largely been ignored and we have blissfully spiralled into the mire. There is something seriously wrong when we race today for about the same stake money 30 odd years ago. Oh for a Peter V’Landys, who makes calls for the good of the game, rather than trying to make friends. An overseer who runs things like a business, it’s not personal, unlike us who seem to employ the same tired people over & over again. And Gamma, maybe you too are part of the problem, good folk relocating like good horses, or I tend to think it was more foresight on your part 😇, much like all the good folk that have moved to where they see a future.
