My comment about the birdshit and dust at Wingatui was based on the fact that in pictures of one of the grandstand there is never anyone in it, not unique to Wingatui but if the crowd they are talking about does turn up then it will need to be up to standard, not that I'm not suggesting it ain't now but the birds must love it. As for Ellerslie how many could they handle, plenty of space. Interestingly they go on about the Warriers getting better crowds than the Blues but they fill a small stadium where as the Blues half fill a bigger one.
-
Gee if they think they may get that many they better get someone to wipe all the birdshit and dust of the seating in the grandstand , this is a litmus test for Wingatui. Question is how many will turn up for Ellerslie next week, you often hear them waffling on about being a sellout, maybe thats the hospitality tents yet drone footage seems to indicate plenty of space, at the course in general.

As you would expect good noms, 24 for the Southern mile, someone will know, do the ones missing the cut just get shifted elsewhere, even if they do looks like some of the noms will be staying home.
-
Better to spend on older horses, fix the handicapping and have better fields for rating 60 + I think I'm correct in thinking nothing has actually changed regarding 2yo, shifting the seasons has only meant they turn 2 or 3 or 4 six months later than what it was, irrespective it seems numbers just ain'tthere probably the complete domination of some stables has put many off.

Winton Thursday, 2 2yo races scheduled, 2 noms in total, races canned, at least Wyndham have races with both sexes combined programmed for next month, for what I'm seeing it's got worse since they changed the season to Jan 1 or is it just me thinking that ? Add to that Winton have a 70000 2yo fillies race in April, for more than likely half a dozen runners if they are lucky, this ain't good business sense. And of course one or two early birds will cream it, but as I've said before best to make hay while the sun shines, it can't be sustainable.

They've also employed a heap too, they are on trackside.,

It's looking increasingly awkward for harness clubs, re grass track racing, Hawera may lose end of Jan dates, Otaki and Hawera now possibly same days as Marlbourough nterestingly they now are thinking most Southern meetings in Spring autumn and Winter now moving to Sundays, seems to me the guys setting dates are just clutching at straws as it's only since Xmas has Sunday have the busier days so how will they know if they are financially successful, will they ever settle or just keep guessing ?
-
That's probably the average crowd at Alexandra Park, might look better if they just shutdown most of the public area to make the crowd that is there look better😃
-
I note the 4 races for 2 year olds Addington ran in late November are canned and funding will go elsewhere, maybe they woke up to the fact that 16 young trotters chasing 200000 is not smart, maybe they might just run for 15 grand which makes sense and chase the bigger stakes when they grow up. That was poor business sense but maybe Mr Shannon had a few prospects , hence the stakes lol.
-
Maybe they are just a bunch of wankers to work for, I still find it strange no one commentating the dogs has said anything about greyhounds ending, I bet they have been muzzled, probably same for presenters who no longer give the place odds before a race.
-
Betfair have the best cash out option but they don't do multis.
-
Well I guess this is the litmus test for racing at Wingatui regarding crowd numbers, good racing, hopefully good weather, how many actually go, that remains to be seen.
-
Manawatu probably will take a hit as well when greyhounds finish, having Sundays races as twilight ending after 8 is a new thing but usually I'm done with racing by the last race on Sundays by 5 o clock, I suspect most of us are as well, all very well Entain trying to implement ideas from Ozzie but not sure if they work here, strange how many can see some of their ideas regarding the calendar are weird but they can't, why Otaki raced same day as Blenhiem, mind boggling but it seems to me the only way CDracing is sustainable is simply running mostly mini meetings, Hawera were a exception, their fields numbers wise were good, now they want to run Taupo just four days before Hawera, that also seems odd.
-
May have meant 10000 on course turnover,
-
Small fields at Palmy North, 6 or 7 races may be the best they can hope for, nice earners for some, grab it while it's there.
-
Would be hypocritical if we banned dog racing but still had aussie dog racing but don't worry about Entain about making up the deficit, with geo blocking they will be creaming it with all the money floating back, or are they just gambling on that ?
-
That guy from Sweden is called the iceman which coming from home at present is probably not far wrong but imagine getting out the plane in Oz, what a contrast.
-
Smaller fields in Palmy and probably no harder to get there but therein lies another issue with the handicapping, getting same penalty as if winning 15 horse race at the Mot but that's another issue for another day.
-
Your probably right about Timaru, but interestingly up till recently Orari was on the chopping block, and if they did close Timaru would seem the place to go. While the North want more grass racing, Taupo is just four days before Hawera, not sure if that's smart and where would that leave Otaki who strangely were racing same day as Blenhiem which seemed weird, personally as I've stated elsewhere Otaki should have been in the week after Blenhiem and the week before Hawera, just my thoughts, but obviously others think differently.

Might be smarter trying his luck at Manawatu.

Truth be known Purdon may not even have owned Rolleston, may have just been a tenant, irrespective if the complex is so flash would be sad to see it dismembered if that's the case. Someone will know I guess. What has happened to Nat Rasmusson ?

Seems the reason for no Friday is because of telly but reality is Friday nights these days in winter are NRL, Super Rugby nights so where's the problem, and it's not like it would be a ongoing thing, returning Nelson and possibly Blenhiem would be a change of scenery, the weekly winter diet of Addingtons Friday Sunday can become a bit stale, as always the number of horses in Canterbury make these meetings viable, unlike many meetings across the straight that probably ain't.
-
Interestingly I note HRNZ are looking at the possibility of Nelson getting 2 days back, strangely though a Tuesday, Thursday in May, if you don't have 1 weekend day then why bother and if not tied in with Blenhiem would they get the numbers anyway.numbers were not flash in January, was that because of location, the mile raceday or the Ashburton meet 2 days after, Blenhiems numbers were good so is going to Richmond just not so appealing anymore?

The five biggest priorities for new NZTR CEO Matt Ballesty
mikeynz replied to Murray Fish's topic in Galloping Chat
I find the idea that by geo blocking all this so called money that's punted on overseas sites will come flooding back to NZTAB as being rather naive, many will be serious punters but if you limit them they will more than likely stop betting, no one likes a monopoly and sure 100 million to Racing and Harness in NZ looks appealing but its also a big gamble by Entain as well, they have thrown plenty of money NZs way but are they getting anything back? -
Looks like that will supplement their pensions nicely😁
