  1. I wish I could that in rea life, about 40 years would do me 😒
  2. And you wonder if the top of the south will ever get their winter harness dates back, the talk was that Nelson might get a Tuesday Thursday meet back in May, Friday night lights on trackside 2 meetings seems to be the in thing for harness racing but gee even one week wouldn't hurt and often Friday nights Rugby and League on the tell anyway, you got to look after the provinces.
  3. Maybe the trainers could ride them instead.
  4. Good point too,but surely the good folk of Marlborough would like a day out at the races and the trainers would enjoy a few days away from the same old same old.
  5. And only 1 grass meeting north of the Waitaki until then that's a long time, as I've stated before Blenhiem needs reinstating, next week is another ideal time along with a couple of other windows, not hard if you try.
  6. Early July next for Ashburton, they actually got 2 extra dates this season, one in February, a Sunday and another midweek in April when strangely Timaru lost their April day, that was moved to November.
  7. I'm starting to believe Harness racing is losing it's appeal to many in more ways than one, some feely average racedays that many just skip by.
  8. If you don't limit some punters on fixed then they will skim Entain of funds over time so in reality if they are restricted they don't bet and if they cant get the return on the tote they'd like they don't bet there either, looking at many of the harness tote pools that's happening but reality is small fields with dominating favorites ain't good for business and ain't a good sustainable model.
  9. Reading the above story emphasizes it's not just Auckland losing ground.
  10. Would you not think the subsidy covers horses for only one day, if they start twice.?
  11. Time honored Masterton cup has 6 noms, not bad for the club of the year nominee. Who makes up that crap.?
  12. I note long delays in traffic in Auckland after truck breaks down, over 11k back up, maybe waiting for carter's to get there to fix flat Tyre, lol, imagine spending a couple of hours queued in traffic more often than not I wonder if they've worked out why it's like that, the blind leading the blind.
  13. Be on the all weather, but if it was on grass be interesting to see how deep the drains would be dug where the mobile passed over.
  14. But you wonder why he's gone jaffa, maybe he's simply not liked by anyone, at least in Auckland it's easier to hide in the masses Fair comment about the naming of teams, but maybe Cantabs refer to jaffas with two meanings, one as being a jaffa and referring to the fact Larry the Lamb drops jaffas out his rear end. It kind of gives the meaning Auckland are shit new meaning
  15. Would many of those trainers be employable in any other field? In many ways Harness Racing is missing a trick, they could promote themselves jn many ways as in offering owners the knowledge with all weather tracks they are guaranteed racing all year round,Southland finishes gallops next week but the trots go right through but most of the galloping trainers in the South race small teams, more than likely semi pro, they have a 8 month season, you sometimes wonder with all the issues with tracks in the CD if they would be best to scale right back in winter. But you could also counter that the reason so many meetings get called off is because everyone's got niggly about health and safety, maybe in the old days they raced on tracks exactly the same and possibly worse but times were different then
  16. Maybe that explains why fields are a bit light at Taranaki sometimes, in fact I will change that, most times.
  17. That guy in Christchurch at the rugby that time with the sign. "Auckland are shit".........brilliant.
  18. Not too many at Eden Park last night, seems interest wanes at Auckland quickly in many things but it was only the Force, actually it was only the Blues lol.
  19. Interesting character old TAB.
  20. Your comment about sheepshaggers is one of the reasons most here more than likely see you for the wanker you are, another negative for Auckland , no wonder the traffic congestion is so bad, can't even catch a bus without being bashed up,roll on the South Pacific's fastest growing ghetto, it's happening faster than some halfwits realise.
  21. Still plenty of tradional Country meetings going ok still as well, there is probably no other place like Auckland that have chopped and changed days and shifted races, never seem to settle.
  22. If you use turnover as yardstick, it shows that for all the hype/promotion it created no more national interest than Riccartons cup day but as we've already known Auckland don't care about horse racing as a rule, cup week jn Canterbury wins hands down.
  23. That 18th meeting could end up anywhere at this stage, who would know?
