  1. Is the racing club going to still keep going there.i mentioned on another thread they seem to get dicked around all the time with their racedays.
  2. Just to add,Sunday's are actually a good day in winter, simply not much happening at this time of year,Addington race every week so why not the gallops join in,there are 2 Sundays next winter with no gallop meetings, why Oamaru don't get the June one which would be next week seems odd.
  3. Oamaru and Timaru dates seem to be all over the place, why can't there be some consistency?........Lots of other sports usually have a settled timetable, but racing is tinkering all the time,Oamaru do have one big day,Washdyke have industry days only, that doesn't help their cause for staying racing, strange thing here though is you have the best track with the poorer horses yet Riccarton has the best horses with the poorer track, surely there is a better way,why for some reason do Oamaru race on a Thursday in June and Riccarton race on the Saturday yet the Sunday before has nothing, why not race AWT on the Thursday, basically having 2 day meeting,at Riccarton, some of these clubs are getting the run around. I actually think that all the winter grass racing from Queens birthday till after the National meeting in the south should be at the weekend, race midweek only on the. AWT.
  4. Mostly good numbers for Washdyke Sunday and at this stage a slow track yet Matamata,New Plymouth and Wellington have heavy tracks, just been doing some research of past stats and about 80 percent of the time day 1 at Riccarton in August is a heavy track, yet Oamaru and Washdyke have slow or dead and in some cases a good track racing same time of year.
  5. I don't really believe Timaru will close,Oamaru don't seem to race much,I have a look at past results and even then some of the winter or August meetings had small fields and in some cases only 6 or 7 races, even if they do have a AWT at Riccarton it won't make a scrap of difference to the grass track, one extreme weather event like last week and then racing on it does damage that lingers a long time, a better spread of meetings at venues and a better quality productmakes more sense.
  6. I'm starting to think the whole dam lot of it,(racing) is fucked.
  7. Only 5 noms for the 2 main races at Trentham,Waimate noms not bad but for some strange reason a starting limit of only ten in some races, can anyone explain why?
  8. I notice Mr Devlins not on radio today,Miles Davis is on,he's ok,maybe Devlins not gunna be on,that would be a positive. As for a positive I've been doing some research into senz, overall they look like a well run setup, there is room for a well run sports and racing setup, bring it on.
  9. Four horses trained out of Southland raced today,a winner,2 seconds and a third, good strike rate.
  10. 16 from Riverton and 16 from Wingatui running on Sunday,7 races, the noms were good I guess the weather has stuffed things a bit but with the Tyler's and the Andertons keeping the numbers up you do wonder where things are gunna end up.
  11. I see this new setup has a app you can download, its starting soon.a lot of stuff will be through the app I guess, hopefully though they can get the right mix as in radio and racing, the internet is a great thing but so is the radio,we will just have to wait and see.
  12. Wonder how many people will be pouring into Addington today🙂
  13. I know we tend to go over and over at times, anybody want to see how far rugby has progressed go on you tube and see what those Ranfurly shield and touring team matches produced in hype and enthusiasm in the past, look at the shield and npc now, same for a lot of Harness racing too.
  14. When the better horses stopped racing the slow slide downhill started, more average meetings, and no major meetings, what the future is in the region is anybody's guess. Harness racing is running a lot of average meetings,Rangiora racing for 7000 stakes 2 Sundays recently, and a diet of same old same old, sometimes quantity needs to be replaced with quality, yet the TAB and the harness leaders claim things are going well, are they really? Interesting you hear the chat about poor crowds for the super rugby games on at present, well can anybody work out why?
  15. With the heavy rain in Canterbury will be interesting to see how some of the tracks fare.
  16. Judging by some of the ideas by hrnz about this time last year it would be of concern. Would have been hard shifting Forbury to Wyndham coz it would have been gone too.
  17. I guess if they did move to Wingatui and did have a AWT you would think that Sunday meetings would be order of the day, initially Sunday racing was for country clubs, I think Wingatui would be classed in that category, for some strange reason running Sunday meetings at Addington seems to be the norm now ,they have their time in the limelights on Fridays, leave the Sundays for others. Just to add,Alexy runs in the last shortly,O'Connell drives the horse, what are the odds,he is a Forbury specialist but he usually spaces his win to about 35 races so maybe not,we will see.
  18. I think you find when things ain't going well, everybody probably blames others,I wonder if they are looking at a synthetic track for gallops and harness,if Forbury do shift to Wingatui to race anymore than the odd meeting they would need an all weather, but it seems there is no guarantee t.hat the harness big shots will support anything. just watched that trot with rank outsiders coming in but I struggle to see how that horse with the long name was such a short favourite,it had no form.
  19. Glad that I could be of some assistance😂
  20. Jack Frost is racing in one of the later races so he hasn't frightened off many as there are 10 races which in today's climate ain't bad, stakes are better, just shows that lots target the better days, often the lesser days are skipped by some but they are all part of the setup too.
  21. Too much of a average product, sorry below average, ive been here just over a year now and weve been over the issues many times but dont just put racing in the poor product, rugby is no different, super rugby is a non event,Kirwan questions the ABs playing under prepared island teams and he is probably right, its all about the dollar and extracting as much as you can,i think as we get older we reflect on better times of the past, but we have to keep changing so the experts say yet as i said before most changes made seem to be 2 steps forward,3 back. Just to add, wait till the next election,we will be fed another line of bullshit from the polys but fuck all forward progress will eventuate.
  22. There were over 30 from Riverton at Riverton on Easter Saturday, about 25 from Wingatui at Wingatui on Boxing Day maybe the weather has seen one or two knock off but the numbers just ain't there no more
  23. Andertons have 16 noms,10 at a quick glance from others, there are probably more trained at Washdyke, and possibly Riverton as well,
  24. Good numbers but apart from the Andertons hardly any others from Wingatui, never noticed how few are trained there now.
