  1. NO. Sean who?
  2. I think the horse is better than a donkey, mate. Major Meister was consistent when trained by Kirsten Green/Tank Ellis. Lite Jagermeister, the dam, did most of her racing in Australia so perhaps it is not surprising that her son races better in Australia? The mare won eight races in Australia and 11 overall, so again no donkey! Miss Green has a half brother He's a Meister that's had one start. I think it is understandable that a horse would improve going from Southland where it's cold to warm Australia. Do horses prefer warmer weather, Gamma?
  3. Grimson and Hart a great team...
  4. It's a joke my old mate. The clowns are running the show. Useless administrators, stipes, cEOs. Kind Jacinda. No one can think? You are on the money as nearly always my old mate. What were they thinking? $10 to get in for a lolly scramble and wave from Santa. Joke. The weather has had the last laugh my old mate...
  5. I am interested in the meeting. I am keen to see the two year old. Strike rate trainer, Alister Black, has another top liner in Captain Tom. The gelding smashed them in his debut at Winton last week. It will take something special to beat him. Da Vinci can win. He has ability and raced in harder fields than this. Draw doesn't help him. But any thing can happen in a 2yo half the field break, you never know. Cup looks a three horse go... BD Joe, Spankem and Self Assured. I think Spankem can surprise win if he gets a soft run on two or three back on fence. The Kirsten Green trained runner can place at good odds.
  6. Yes, Sarah is quite a way ahead of the pack with her driving ability and inborn talent. She's got good hands, as her grandfather Patrick O'Reilly sen, would say. Glad you got plenty, mate!
  7. Fifteen horses 'too dangerous to handle' euthanised after being seized from racing breeder Olivia Caldwell 16:46, Dec 16 2022 PETER MEECHAM/STUFF MPI, police, and horse rescue staff remove horses from Kaikōura's Donegal House on Thursday morning. Fifteen horses seized from a Kaikōura harness racing breeder’s property have been euthanised. In September, 44 horses were retrieved by police from Donegal House – a well-known Irish pub and accommodation site, run by standardbred breeder Murray Boyd. Twenty-nine of the horses were rehomed, and while attempts were also made to rehome the remaining 15, they had not been broken in and “were too dangerous to handle”, Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) regional manager animal welfare Murray Pridham said on Friday. The horses were euthanised following advice from equine experts, he said.Police, MPI staff, vets, and staff were involved in the horse take back in September. “MPI animal welfare inspectors have completed their work at this Kaikōura property involving the welfare of 44 horses,” Pridham said on Friday. PETER MEECHAM/STUFF Helpers coax a young horse towards waiting horse trucks at Donegal House near Kaikoura, where MPI staff were uplifting horses. “During the course of our inquiries, MPI gained an enforcement order from the court, ordering the owner of the horses to destock which he refused to do. “Because of this failure to comply with the court, under the powers of the Animal Welfare Act, MPI was legally able to intervene.” There were three large horse trucks at the scene in September, and people could be seen loading about a dozen horses into them. About 16 more, many visibly thin, were huddled around large hay feeders in paddocks in front of the property. More horses could be heard around the property. It’s understood there were about 50 on the grounds. One mare at the scene had a young foal at foot, and others appeared to be pregnant.A young horse which managed to escape had to be coaxed out of the bushes by staff from Stable To Stirrup, a charitable trust based just out of Christchurch which specialises in working with standardbred horses. According to information from Harness Racing NZ (HRNZ) records, Boyd was last licenced as a trainer in 2014. Boyd also raced successful pacer Donegal Delight, who won $228,988 racing in New Zealand and Australia. HRNZ records show she is still in his ownership. HRNZ and the SPCA have been approached for comment.
  8. That's how I make most of my money, get on early often get good odds. Smart betting...
  9. I'm sure Sarah will do well. Sonoma Tyron is a head scratcher. She has ability but I don't think she tries every time. if she has her mind on the job will probably bolt-in. Who knows?
  10. I was going to reinvest some of my winnings from I Cast No Shadow. But I lost interest so won't bet at all now. Joke!
  11. No one is listening my old mate. The Pain Train is coming fast... Are you and I the only two that can see reality? The rest of the population still trust and obey Kind Jacinda. Suckers!! Hard times are near...
  12. How hopeless are the TAB bookies? It's 4pm and there are no fixed odds up for Friday's Addington meeting. WTF? Auckland is up but who wants to bet up there. If this is some ploy by the TAB to make us bet on Auckland, forget it. Useless. The meeting starts in 24 hours and no fixed odds there yet. Get your act together TAB. Not good enough 😡
  13. To be fair there is probably not much the CEO can do about it. Gallops will always take preference on a Saturday afternoon. I don't watch on television so won't worry me! I am looking forward to the meeting. I am really interested in the clash of Da Vinci and Alister Black's Captain Tom. Captain Tom looks like something special while Da Vinci is good too. Of course something else might win... Good luck Invercargill TC
  14. Sorry HP, you are fight got the name wrong. Grant Payne. There are so many of those Paynes, and Ross falls out with everyone...
  15. I would guess Ross Payne probably left on bad terms but he seems to fall out with all the trainers he has worked for. I think the foreman's job is pretty tedious mate. Probably do all the lackey jobs, jogging horses in wet and cold winter days. Would Cullen even drive fast work? Probably not, Olivia Thornley, Mark and Natalie, Michael Purdon, Jonny Cox... would do that surely?
  16. I think you are being a bit unfair my old mate. Greg Payne was with Purdon for some time. I think the likes of Payne and Cullen probably think they have learned all they can and know all the secrets but when they go out alone they find success hard to come by. Cullen won't have that with that stable of course because Mr Stockman obviously has plenty of money. What would happen if his business empire crashed overnight??? Blair Orange left to supposedly start some big training partnership with Ken Barron but that never happened. I wonder why? Tim Williams was with the All Stars for some time too, and he still drives occasionally for the stable. Williams is one of the top drivers around these days and I think you can put that down to the good horses he drove while at All Stars. It happens with other stables too my old mate. Think, Butt/Anderson. I how many winners has Phillip Anderson trained since he left Premier Stables? All his horses are slow, battlers. I think you are right that the All Stars as they are now won't be around for too much longer. It must be hard working a big team like they have and Mark is getting on like us my old mate. Millwood Nike should keep the stable name in the spotlight for the next few seasons though.
  17. Some of those Captain Treacherous sired horses are top liners. He leaves big, strong, good-looking, athletic horses. Captain Ravishing, Millwood Nike look unbeatable. Strike rate trainer Alister Black has Captain Tom that smashed them when it won its first start in 1:53.9 at Winton last week! It will be interesting to see him clash with Da Vinci at Invercargill on Saturday. The sky is the limit...
  18. On the money mate. That's why I backed it because of the draw, top trainer and driver and paying $14! Easy money. The Court's don't knock their horses around so horses sold from the stable can usually be improved by an astute trainer. Jason Grimson is definitely astute.
  19. I backed Sleepee and I Cast No Shadow so I am happy Gamma. I didn't see the races, will watch later, but Just Believe to win from that drawer, good on him. As you say he won all his heats so it was a deserved win. Jason Crimson and young Cameron Hart are a great team, it won't be the last Interdominon final they will win.
  20. The love of money is the root of all evil...
  21. Interesting to see that there is no entrance charge at the Invercargill Cup meeting. The meeting will have better fields than either Rangiora and BP. I hope the weather is kind for the club.
  22. It seems a bit expensive to me mate. The facilities are Rangiora are not flash and I would not pay to go to the races there. Why would anyone pay $10 to watch slow horses racing around a average track? Senseless
  23. Wow, I didn't realise that about Aussie harness. I agree it is piss poor. Gamma, what is this Duggan fellow like as a driver? Obviously, he won't be as good as Chris Alford, who is?, but he has he better draw to work with. Go Sleepee
  24. Stakes are sure to drop and it will get worse. Next year will be tough due to the financial mismanagement of Reserve Bank Governor Orr and Finance Minister Robbersson. Next year's TAB take will be well down due to the economic conditions. It's going to be a tough time for many in this country. But don't blame me cos I didn't vote for Kind Jacinda. I think some clubs and trainers will fold due to the upcoming recession. Stakes will have to be cut for all races, G1 included. More horses will be exported to Australia. The Pain Train is coming my old mate.
  25. Doesn't Mrs Alford train Sleepee? The draw is important at most Australian tracks. Sleepee is better drawn than Queen Elida.
