Regan Todd trained the horse for its sole placing but he clearly didn't want it in his stable and returned to Chmiel. I don't know what the future holds for her, mate. She should not be racing. Poor breeding poor so probably no reason to send her to stallion either. Frankly, looking at her dam, 1 win in over 50, don't know why that was breed from either. And her traits will probably be passed on to any foals she has, fillies at least? Perhaps, equestrian is her future a patient rider would probably sort her out. Retire her today.
-
Yes. I believe the mare has had enough chances. Broodmare paddock for her.
-
I agree the horse should not be racing as she is a disaster waiting to happen. Last night, she played around at the start and then broke for no reason disrupting trialing runners. Fortunately, Gerard O'Reilly's experience, cool nature and excellent hands managed to bring the horse under control immediately, something Chmiel couldn't do the week before, and he eased her out of it. Another day, another driver... BANG!! I see she has two trial twice satisfactorily after last night's effort. WTF? Penalties like that are a waste of time. It is so easy to find a weak trial field that she can jog around in and do everything right. She could be backing racing in a weeks time. Crazy!
-
She galloped for no reason tonight but at least Gerard O'Reilly managed to control her and pull her out of race. Will she be given another warning?

Captain Crusader... get on now!

Once again on the money, mate. Why do we have stipes these days? What do they do except handout ridiculous fines on a whim? Good grief. Lizzie Richter should have been stood down after her last performance. WTF? Ridiculous. The mare has a history of doing this. This is where we are so far behind the U.S., Canada and Australia. There if a horse did what she did it would be out until it had trialled satisfactory two or there times. Here what happens nothing. So in the past two weeks we've had the stipes blatantly ignore three frightening incidents. Le Pole Dancer checked Gerard O'reilly horse three times, nothing done. Blair Orange caused an accident that results in the death of a horse, nothing down. Annie Richter gallops uncontrollably numerous times during the running, out of control and uncontrollable drive for Chmiel, nothing done. I think it is almost certain to gallop form that draw on Friday night. Hopefully it gallops in the score up where little damage can be done. If not, look out.

Yes, weak field. Stephs Boy will win a couple more, the rest will probably be in the same grade next year!
-
Slainte has won its last two trials. It won a trial in August 2021 and must have been put aside. It is reasonably bred and the mid-canterbury boys like a punt so understandable why it is short. Follow the money mate. Wait for a few starts when odds have lengthened then it'll win. Get on mate!

And chief claim about the Orange horse was well passed Ready I am before fell is a red herring. Of course the fall would not happen instantly and Orange well gone not surprising as probably travelling 35-40km/h! Physics! Ready I Am stumbled and looked to find it's feet but then the weight of sulky and driver being thrown forward it was unable to stop the forward momentum and went down. The question to be asked is: if Orange had not taken the gap would Ready I Am have still fallen due to Prince Teka and Aquille? I don't think the horse would have fallen in that situation as room to take evasive action. Poor decision.
-
Yes, on the money again mate. Prince Teka being shoved sideways into the path of Ready I am was the main contributor to the fall. Philippa Wakelin would have been able to angle away from the Townley horse if Prince Teka was not there. It is a joke decision.

I didn't back him Gamma, but not surprised by the win. Great drive Gerard O'Reilly. The Falcon ran third in the 2021 NZ Derby behind Krug and BD Joe so he is no slouch. G&J Dunn to quinella this year's NZ Cup with Laver and The Falcon... get on early!!!
-
It's a joke mate. The stipes get more lenient every week. It's mind-boggling, mate. Last week it was Le pole Dancer that knocked over the Gerard O'Reilly trained and driven Bettor Be Sharp, three times. Stevie Wonder could see the intereference but the stipes couldn't. Now, this week, we have a horse being killed because of dangerous interference and nothing done. Will someone have to die before action is taking on this sort of driving? Stipes wake up before someone is killed.

Did too many cooks mix up the tonics? 🤣🤣🤣
-
Some of them will go well. At least House always puts good drivers on, take note fellow trainers.
-
That's another stable that has stopped training as many winners since the banning of the masking agent arsenic tonic?
-
Blair Orange is a strange one. When he left All Stars with the backing of Mark I thought he was going into a training partnership with K. Barron. That has never happened although he drives for the stable. K. Barron doesn't have many good horses lately and wins rare. What happened to the partnership mate?
-
The class of horse they have would be the main reason mate. Self Assured, Spankem, if Southcoast Ardern worked with horses like that he would get fitter and faster. It's natural. Purdon also has that straight 1000m track which must help too. Few trainers have a track like that. Dunns could do that at the beach but I don't think it would be quite the same? There's also the driver. I'm not knocking Brent Mangos, but Natalie Rasmussen is a far better driver than him and horses run for her. That's a few reasons mates and there are probably more.
-
The horse needs to go back to All Stars as he is not going as well now. Fact! We have keen supporters of harness racing here too, the likes of Trevor Casey who has dozens of horses with many different trainers in both the Mainland and North Island. Breckon Farms etc. Casey also breeds many horses. He must spend millions a year on the harness game so he deserves all the success he gets. I haven't been betting lately but there is still money to be made. I prefer Group 1 races but others like punting maestro Brodie opt for Motukarara. We all do the best we can. That's why if Southcoast Ardern owners want him to be the best he can be he needs to return to All Stars!🤣
-
I watched the race but didn't bet. I enjoyed it as the late dash from the Aussie made it an exciting finish. Let's face it, the best pacer in NZ, probably Australasia, Self Assured won. All Stars have been patient with this bloke and he's been well-placed. Purdon knows how good the horse is and I believe the best is yet to come. Self Assured has only had 31 starts!! Nineteen win, eight seconds, three thirds, $1.4m stakes. Majestic Cruiser, WOW! His was an eye-catching performance but it was not surprising if you listened to Greg interviewing Jack Trainor. Trainor praised Majestic Cruiser and gave him a real chance. Spankem huge run considering his lack of recent racing. Southcoast Arden weak performance, perhaps not enough racing? He was beaten before the turn, battled bravely. Send him back to the All Stars. Ricky May. WTF????? Mach Dan blasted from the gate, May looked like he was going to lead at any cost, then he pulled back. WTF? That stupid move changed the whole race. Mach Dan left parked, race over for him. Terrible drive. I do not understand why May was given the drive? I look forward to next year's THE RACE.
-
Same with that Romeo nag that looked like a superstar when Nat trained it. Last night it was dismal. Mate, did you see that Mr Purdon was suspended for a month and fine for incorrect whip use? I don't think he overdid, maybe got a bit excited when Majestic Cruiser came at him.
-
Sorry to see you go mate. thanks for your interesting posts. And remember, Sarah O'Reilly, she'll be the best one day.
-
Exactly, this the point I made many times but shot down. All Stars were training Southwind Ardern when he was in the meet form of his life, not Mangos although he was listed as the trainer for some unknown reason. Joke.
-
I think it is worth a go. Hopefully, there'll be more publicity next year. Covid made it hard to promote the event this year. Being a one-eyed Cantabrian and Crusader fan i wouldn't drink Chiefs beverage GRINS on principle. Although Leinert-Brown is a Cantabrian and grinning McKenzie a Southlander. I won't bet but will watch. My picks: Spankem, Stylish Memphis, Self Assured...
-
It also reinforces how useless the harness racing rating system is mate. Daggy Lamb went the odd good race here but needed the right run like many horses. I think it is hard to get out of the grade you are in here if you are a slow, battling type of horse like Daggy Lamb. Also many of the smaller trainers do not have their horses fit enough. I see the new Australian trainer has trained over 500 winners, something Daggy Lamb's previous trainer hasn't done and never will. So I think the improvement would be down to better trainer, horse fitter and smaller fields at Cranbourne.

Race 4 MAIA HEALTH FOUNDATION MOBILE PACE Show Video LE POLE DANCER - paced roughly rounding the final bend and broke near the 400 metres hampering a trailing runner. Authorisation of 1st placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the mare had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation and had lost ground when in a break. Stewards were also satisfied that the chances of the trailing BETTOR BE SHARP had not been affected to a degree that would warrant a protest being lodged. Driver P Davis reported he sustained a punctured sulky tyre on the final bend. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination on pulling up which revealed lameness in the left hind leg. The mare received treatment from the Veterinarian on course for a suspected fracture prior to being transported in the horse ambulance to the Equine Clinic for surgery. Stable representative P Davis advised the mare would be retired. MIGHTY REACTOR - broke passing the 1400 metres hampering trailing runners and losing ground. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Had to be steadied rounding the final bend. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home. HEAVEN ON HIGH - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1400 metres. DUFFY HOLLOW - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1400 metres. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home. Driver R Close reported the removable deafeners had not been activated in consequence. WAVETHEBILL - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1400 metres. Had to be steadied rounding the final bend and held up early stages of the run home. BETTOR BE SHARP - briefly hampered and paced roughly on the final bend. LANCEWOOD LOUIE - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1400 metres. Paced roughly on the final bend. ANGUS - raced wide early. ARDEN'S DELIGHT - raced wide early. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 1400 metres. Here's the stipes report for Race 4. Have you ever read such a load of bullshit. "The chances of the trailing BETTOR BE SHARP had not been affected to a degree that would warrant a protest being lodged." ?????? WTF Gerard was nearly knocked off his feet by Le Pole Dancer at the 300m only Gerard's miracle hands saved him, Gerard had to stop driving his horse because Le Pole Dancer ducked in at 250m mark and rounding home bend Gerard has to stop driving because Le Pole Dancer was hanging in on him. So what did the stipes say about that: BETTOR BE SHARP - briefly hampered and paced roughly on the final bend." Yes, he paced roughly because LE Pole Dancer was laying all over him, ducking in. Gerard had to stop driving for 50m and he's been beaten less than half a length and margin rapidly decreasing. If Gerard had another 50m to work with in the straight he must have won. One of the worst decisions I can remember. Why have stipes if this is the best they can do... I am flabbergasted Brodie, cannot believe it.... And again for the know alls I did NOT HAVE A BET
