On the money again mate. Another hopeless selector is the person who does the selection horses story for the days' meeting. Today, its "Herbert and Himself a likely du at Rangiora today." I don't know Miss Herbert got on as won't be watching Rangiora. Nevertheless, who ever picks the horses to highlight each race day, is almost a kiss of death. You can guarantee that the highlights horse/horses will finish down the track. The person, he or she, seems to have little knowledge and experience of harness racing or is a poor judge. Hopeless strike rate. I wonder how much this person is paid?

Irrelevant red herring on your part. I do not know what they use in training but that is immaterial because the fact remains whips are banned in harness races.
-
How do they get on Norway then, where whips are banned? I don't agree with you, how will they learn. Good grief, force is not always the answer, just be a bit more patient. Really.
-
Whips are outlawed in Norway and they have many high calibre trotters there. I have never bet on a Norwegian harness race but i am sure all horses run to the line without being whipped.
-
It is time to ban the whip. HRNZ must be proactive and take incisive action now. Following the recent Mark Todd incident where he whipped a horse with a branch, activists' eyes are laser focussed on equestrian and horse racing and whip use. Outrage, driven by social media, could quickly spread. HRNZ must show foresight and ban the whip.

The HRNZ has had stories about colts or fillies entered in the 2022 sales. I think they play a part. It is the breeders, conditioners and bloodstock companies that do the bulk of promoting.

I think you make some fair points but are a bit harsh on Bettor Twist. I don't think she has ever been assisted by a stablemate to win, she has been the only All Stars runner in other races too. She hasn't been going as well this season or in the past few months anyway. She's still won but she hasn't looked as sharp to me. I don't know the reason and it isn't uncommon. Sometimes a horse will have a cracker season winning multiple G! races but it might flatten it and next season the horse is off. Majestic Man is an example of this. Bettors Twist is by far the best mare that was in that field and she will prove it again. She is a bit of a one-trick pony because she hasn't got real sharp speed but she can grind out keeping going, like a Laver type horse. I think All Stars will probably change her training and make her into a strong grinding sort. Regardless, she will always be vulnerable because she is one-paced. If she gets to front easily, it's all over. If she doesn't, she can be beaten. Just my thoughts..

I think you are right re punting. I won't be having a bet but I will be watching. There's some great horses on display... Sundee's Son, Bolt For Brilliance, Akuta, Franco Indie, Southwind Ardern and lightly raced NZ Cup winner Self Assured. And there's True Fantasy, the next Amazing Dream. I think the two year old C&G could spring an upset. Merlin looks the one, but strange things can happen in a two year old race. There could be an upset but picking what the upsetter will be is hard. I agree with you about the two year old trotters race. It should be held at Addington where at least probably get eight starters, James Gameson has a couple of two years old racing well that would probably start, Purdon is likely to have others that he would start not far from home? It's going to be a great nights harnessracing but only to watch. I am looking forward to it.

I heard Brodie has invested in a slot.

couldn't agree more mate. Sprint races are the future. Lets try something n
-
Mile and sprint aacing is easier on most horses. The nags can race every week, pay their way and probably need little work between races.
-
Money to be made at Auckland mate... look more closely... $12 shot in the third from strikerate trainer Wigg, easy money

Go Amazing Dream.

I agree with much of what you say mate. But regarding Folklore at Cambridge. To be fair to Cox, I think she has to be driven that way as she is a weak and not very brave horse that cannot do any work. If she has to go round a horse during the running she usually chucks it in. When left for the last run she always comes home strong. She would be suited to Menangle I think, Cox should send her over to young Trainor.
-
Tim Williams on a different level than Cox mate.
-
Yes. Natalie the best driver in NZ, second only to Alford in my opinion. I don' rate Cox, he is a mediocre driver, prone to hotheadedness and WTF moves and poor strike rate. I would rather have Olivia Thornley on board than him. Yes, I know all the girls love him but I don't back anything Cox is driving. I reckon Ladie In Red would get beaten if he was aboard. Useless.

Spot on mate. On the money as usual Brodie my old mate I give you the tip. It's a fucking laugh mate. The nation has been put on hold for a couple of days for the coronation of Her Kindness and the smarmy fisherman. I actually feel sorry for Ardern marrying that guy. I cannot understand it. Moving on. Anyway, the peasants can look after themselves for just one day her saintliness commanded. Oh what a laugh it is going to be be, handpicked guest list. Capitalism has failed said the Comrade years ago. Tomorrow the coronation has being held at a billionaires' property with entertainment provided free by multi-millionaire Lorde. I would not be surprised if the singing wimp, no talent Ed Sheeran an Ardern acolyte and arse-licker turns up.Will they been having sparkling plonk from Marlborough buy local or the real stuff... French champagne. Champagne it is! Brodie and I will be leading the stampede to Countdown early next week to pick up the latest Woman Day with exclusive wedding photos and stories. Cute Neve included. Peasants rejoice, just for one day. Then Lockdown

Mate, it's time to lay off the angry pills and the firewater if they do this to you. Delusional mate, get help.

I think there is a big fillies/mares races and two and three year old G1 races later this season. Not sure of the dates will do some research..

David has health issues with vertigo

Mrs Catherine Butt is the brains behind the organisation. Beach training facilities was her brain child; they must collect plenty in rent weekly?
-
I think there are a number of horses that would fit the bill. Trotters I can think of are Bright Glow and Prince Teka. Horses like those two would not need much work mate. As they race almost weekly, sometimes twice a week, they would not need much work probably just a couple of days jogging between races to keep fit. I think one thing most of these type of horses have in common is that they are one-paced battlers that need the right run to win. They don't win often but usually honest and pick up a cheque frequently.
-
I agree. The background shots of the track look terrible. an overgrown wasteland, weeds and wrecks. The smelly mudflats not too scenic either.

Investing and finding value in G1 races works for me...
