Why? Unless they give up on the elimination strategy and they can't really do that. Auckland hospitals are already stretched. They have to stick with the go hard go early otherwise and this is probably worse than the case we started with which put the whole country straight into level 4. Lot wil depend on what eventuates in the next 3 or 4 days I guess,
-
I'd say that's an even money fave. Rest of the country possibly level 3 by Friday.
-
It's getting the same isn't it? Resurgence payments, wage subsidies etc.
-
They probably have the same plan as when this outbreak hit. Something like the plan is to come up with a plan when it hits.
-
True but what worries me is that this probably has already spread beyond the Waikato given the time-frame, so there's a fair chance the whole of the NI if not the SI could be at level 3 or 4 by the end of the week. Hard to know what to do really.
-
Except the alleged criminal's kids went to school subsequently, one of them with symptoms. Heaven knows where it might have spread from there. How on earth anyone could have bailed a prisoner from Auckland to the Waikato when no-one else is allowed out of there is beyond me. What were they thinking? That's right, they weren't.
-
Maybe at least phone to see how the young lady was doing and perhaps offer to send someone over to give Freda a hand for the week?
-
Any market on whether this meeting will go ahead? What's the odds? If I were a jockey resident there I'd be getting out now.
-
Probably should switch one or two days to the AWT so they can get it sorted for the Cup meeting.. That's what it's for isn't it?
-
Pretty sure I saw sand or something flying up around the finish line in one of the later races.

Sadly Brodie on the money again: Teenage parasuicides double.

Medical Definition of Parasuicide Medical Editor: Charles Patrick Davis, MD, PhD Reviewed on 3/29/2021 Parasuicide: An apparent attempt at suicide, commonly called a suicidal gesture, in which the aim is not death. For example, a sublethal drug overdose or wrist slash. Previous parasuicide is a predictor of suicide. The increased risk of subsequent suicide persists without decline for at least two decades. So not a suicide attempt by this definition. -

Don't think there is one for stable hands, though probationers require guardian consent if under 18. -

So, NZTR may ask employees as above but cannot require them to be vaccinated unless they are in a particular role that may warrant that requirement, say a health professional. I'm pretty sure that under current legislation they have no right to ask, let alone require that of licensees. -

From the Privacy Commissioner: Can my employer ask me if I have been vaccinated for Covid-19? Yes, provided an employer can demonstrate that they have a legitimate need to know the vaccination status of their employees, they can ask their employees for this information. As is made clear in the Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment’s (MBIE) guidance: An employee does not have to tell their employer if they have been vaccinated or why they are unable or choose not to be vaccinated. If an employee does not tell their employer what their vaccination status is, the employer may assume the employee is unvaccinated, but should first advise them of this assumption. Employers cannot require an employee to be vaccinated. However, employers can require a specific role be performed by a vaccinated person where this is supported by their health and safety risk assessment. Employers must protect personal information about vaccination status and cannot share it (including with other employees) unless an appropriate exception to Principle 11 of the Privacy Act applies (this will generally require an employee’s consent). One such exception is that the disclosure is necessary to prevent or lessen a serious threat to public health or public safety. Find out more on this topic on the MBIE website. -

From the HRC site Can my employer require me to have a vaccine? New Zealand's primary workplace health and safety regulator, Worksafe, has produced a guide to assess whether a specific role needs to be performed by a vaccinated worker. The guidance states: Businesses and services can’t require an individual to be vaccinated. However, you can require a specific role be performed by a vaccinated person - if you have done a health and safety risk assessment to support this. Pretty sure that would mean BOTH existing and new employment situations. -

Finally a reason NOT to emigrate to Australia!

Don't see how. Their licensing rules cannot contravene human rights law or any other statutes. -

Can't I don't think. From the Human Rights Commission site and that's for an employer which NZTR aint of racing participants, but racing rules can't override other statutes including Human Rights Law: Can my employer require me to have a vaccine? Was just talking to a Mental Health Emergency worker who as part of their job moitors ED admissions in case they think they need to be involved. They reported 2-3 admissions a day at the moment due to vaccination side effects at the hospital where they work. Mostly chest pain. -
