  1. The Blood Spinning rules are currently being reviewed by HRNZ and the update to the rules will be announced at the annual conference at the end of September. As we all know the AllStars stable currently use the practice and the company that owns the business and lab that actually does the process is also owned by the owners of the AllStars stable. Industry veteran David Phillips has written an 18000 word submission for the special review as part of the Messara Report! Mr Phillips slams the process saying it is cruel and should be banned! PETA and SPCA and SAFE also have concerns about the process and its affect on animal welfare! Will be very interesting to see what happens here, as we all know that it does improve a horses performance unquestionably. Yes some will come on and defend it, the Blue and Silver fan base, but we all know what is going on don’t we?
  2. Defies logic running races over a mile if you want to attract people to the races. Yes it is good,to,have variety but as you say Auckland Harness does involve some pretty average drives quite often. Trainers are lining their horses up over the mile, and the drivers show very little urgency out of the gate, sit back and run home without making up any ground. Pointless, and unattractive for the punters I wouldve thought!
  3. 2 races at Auckland and 2 boring races! Leader won both times, nothing moves and Yawn!
  4. 1980m races at Addington are far better than a 1609m at Auckland. 1980 and 2600m are the only distances that can run on the next track in Australasia.. Auckland with the mile racing, if you aren’t handy, you generally got no show, as that home bend is a shocker!
  5. Forums are designed for discussion. Without opinions, forums are dead!
  6. Tonka, you are definitely on the money, well done. Appreciate your input!
  7. Exactly Tonka! You have been taking notice, good to see! Are you a supporter of mile racing at Alexandra Park?
  8. Just noticed that Auckland Friday night has 10 races and all are being over the 1609metre distance even a stand is over a mile! What are they thinking, if they are trying to attract punters and to retain punters? Worst type of racing for punting on as any horse can run a mile and leads to form reversals! Each to their own but as a racing distance to punt on, leave Brodie out of it, and I know many others that wouldn’t waste their time either! Thank god Addington in their wisdom has given it a miss! Yes some will think it a good idea but if it was so popular, then why don’t they do it every week?
  9. Great to see that the race is going to happen on Friday night. They let the 2 highest rating horses in and 2 more nominated. Well done.
  10. Dexter is killing it in America, Dexter when he was here won that many premiership in a row it wasn’t funny so to say that Blair is the best is not that accurate. Blair is phenomenal and consistent and hardly ever drives a poor race. The Thing is though that if Dexter was here you would be able to compare the two, the reality is that Dexter was always driving more winners when he was last here.
  11. It is a shame, as in principal it is a good idea, and a chance for horses down south to race while the Deep South has closed up. We do need variety with our race planning, like races for colonial bred horses, more races for fillies and mares, and aged horse races. Be great to get some claiming races at Addington again, I know it has been tried, but with training costs being what they are, it might well be worth having another crack at it.
  12. The South Of the Waitaki Final for 13k is on this Friday, or is it? At this stage when noms were meant to be closed they have only 4 nominations plus 2 outside qualifications, however these 2 will probably be included. Will they still run the Final with only 6 starters for 13k? Not too sure why there is such a pitiful no. nominated, but maybe the others that have lined up have now gone home? Would be a shame if it wasn’t run, but certainly with only 6 starters, it is a bit of a fizzer and a loss for the club.
  13. Don’t think the presenters are there to tip out winners, rather to get punters to offload, if the TAB lets you on! They don’t really want the presenters to give out horses that are going to get in and clean the Bookies out I wouldn’t imagine. No real point either when some of them are tipping out 8 or 9 horses per race like Davey Mac!
  14. Ray is back driving in amateurs.
  15. Any of them except this useless lot we have in the coalition!
  16. Wouldn’t think there is going to be too many out there! Addington would’ve been a better bet at this time of year.
  17. Yeah, Ian did seem to make a bad decision to pull out from the trail, if he had stayed in the trail he probably would’ve won! A certainty beaten was in the first race the amateur race. Kruizr, should’ve been put in the race, and it would’ve won. It was an amateur race so we come to expect that!
  18. Rangiora is Racing on Sunday and they have only 7 races! Has a Canterbury Harness meeting ever raced before with so few races as 7? The fields are pretty small as well, and not too sure how the club is going to make a profit?? I know it is winter time but nowadays Harness Racing is an all year thing! Disappointing for the Rangiora Club and wondering whether they would be far better racing at Addington rather than Rangiora itself? I am sure there will be bugger all that go out there on Sunday as it is probably going to be wet, whereas Addington is undercover and gives far better viewing! Not too sure how financial the Rangiora club is but hope they have as good a day as possible.
  19. You beat me to it Happy. Had an account with Sportsbet off the record! After a time they stopped me from betting on harness, all of a sudden, no warning, no correspondence!!!
  20. Hope you had your punters card on you?
  21. I consistently win Ranga! Got great bloodlines
  22. Hunter, it just won’t win a race on ability, while being trained in Westport. Possibly could If it had its blood spinned by you know who!
  23. Talking of great horseflesh, I note that Tim Jellyman is lining up Little Miss in Race 4 at Addington on Friday night. 9 year old maiden who has had 47 starts, being driven by Johnny Morrison rather than Tim himself. Why on earth you would bother bringing this horse over from Westport to race at Addington is beyond belief really, as she has got a chance if she started now!
  24. The betting agencies do what they want! You can take a Fixed Odds bet in good faith by what the TAB offer by way of odds! They can then cancel your bet if they don’t like it, without giving any reason for doing so. They don’t have to take your bet, and then when they have done so, they can cancel it prior to the event! And they wonder why punters get passed off with them! Yes, it has happened to Brodie several times!
  25. Ranga, I asked the question, not stated anything, read the question!
