Just great punting races are these Premier nights, is there any damn wonder punters are just being turned off by it all? Just a formality in these group races when they fill the places by the no. Of horses they have in the race. Vergil Gallops and still runs second!!! And there are enthusiasts that think this domination is good for harness racing, when the fields are pathetically small just because other trainers know that have got eff all chance of winning! People just aren’t bothering to punt now apart from some pissed up people in the pubs that don’t give a rats! Is it really any wonder that our clubs are going broke and are relying on outside income to be able to continue to pay stake money?

To be fair Matthew Williamson, nice guy and all and a good driver is not really going to cut it with the best drivers in the world, we know that! The no. Of wins in a season is important but it does depend on the no. Of drives and the horses that the driver has had during the season! Yes, some people will say well deserved and others will have a different opinion! To win a world Drivers championship, you have to get on the right horses and drive them consistently well! It is unfortunate circumstances that we will not be sending our best driver, but it will give Matty an opportunity and hope that he drives with credibility and makes NZ proud!

WhiteMan, stating fact old fellah! If punters want to bet into those races when there are stinking hotshots then that is their choice obviously! Backing anything to beat those stinking hotshots I call gambling!!! Sneaky value bets? Havent even looked at the fields apart from the trot ones posted! More money to be made at Forbury and Westport I would’ve thought, and find those Southland fields always too even to have a go!

Owners are getting the stitch totally with this dominance Basil, the yearling sales this year shows that if you go thru who the buyers were! Punters are turned off as well from the minute divs. at premier meetings! The big bets on the hot favourites that are being put on are a surefire way of losing! The average punter is not bothering on these days! The AllStar supporters are allowed their opinion just as well as the intelligent posters who actually know what affect it is having on harness racing,

You are totally correct Joe, but we are wasting our time commenting on the subject any more! Reality is that these one eyed AllStar supporters are totally blind to what is happening and the consequences that are happening! Yes the major races are a total turnoff for most punters, nominations are pathetic when AllStars are nominated! They say we are jealous or supporting mediocrity but we are just concerned about the harness industry going forward! I am going to have to stop commenting on the topic as it is a total waste of time as we get the same response every time from the blinded! Doesnt and won’t affect me financially as I have said previously, it is the owners and trainers who are wanting a slight return for their investment in their harness horses that I feel sorry for! This years yearling sales is just another nail in the coffin!

Happy, grass track form recently, not sure about all weather with Weaver on?

There are some positives about the Harness Jewels this year! Firstly they are at Addington the best Harness track in Australasia by far! Secondly, not over a stupid mile, so sanity prevailed! It will not be such a yawn feast due to both of those reasons! Will it be predictable with the same owners and the same trainer winning all or almost all of the races? Of course and that combined with the usual BS that we hear leading into them is not worthy of the time given to them! Do we really need to hear about whether Michael thinks a runner should be $1.30 rather than $1.20 ?? Blah Blah Blah! That combined with the AllStars fan club with hand on gland when some don’t even punt! Bring on the maiden racing I say, far better viewing and not as costly to Harness Racing, as The Jewels costs the industry a lot of money as it is heavily subsidised!
