You need turnover to have yield Ranga! If you continue to put yield before turnover, it is a recipe for disaster! A smaller yield on a higher turnover is far more beneficial than a higher yield on smaller turnover! You need people interested in racing for it to continue and to continue to dissuade punters flows onto existing and future prospects for harness racing!

Yes it will cost more to run racing than an NRL game without doubt! However, they are wanting to increase racing turnover I have been led to believe, but highly doubt by their antics? How is increasing the TAB/Entains take out from Head to Heads by 50% going to be encouraging punters to wager on Head to Heads when they are taking out so much more than they were?

That doesnt make sense Ranga! They are Bookies and set the odds according to their analysis. They adjust the odds of the NRL game as the game progresses. To now be reducing the head to head from 15cents before to now 22.5cents is surely just taking the piss off Kiwi Punters? An increase of 50% is appalling. The fact that they also limit certain punters to only win $20 on a head to head is also just BS, and you wonder why Punters are pointing out the victimisation?

Apologies to all head to head punters! I pointed out the other day that Entain/TAB had reduced the Head to Head odds since the Ozzie Bookmakers have taken over! They had dropped them from $1.85 down to $1.80 so they are making more of a percentage than when the Petone Bookies were setting the odds!!! Well the sneaky Ozzies today have pulled another one on us by dropping them again today to $1.77.5!!!!! And people think that Entain are the White Knight? The fact is that harness is going to be getting the short straw from Entain, it is easy to see this! It is a fifty fifty bet with 2 participants obviously and they are taking out 22.5 cents off the dollar! However with the NRL game today between the Warriors and Newcastle they had the option of unders and overs for points! Guess what that is a 50 50 bet as well as 2 possibilities just like the head to neads in harness! What were those odds, you would think that they would be the same wouldnt you???? Na, they were both at 1.90 so only taking off 10c so 1.90 for NRL 1.77 for harness! Can someone explain the rationale for the discrepancy?

Rangiora fixed odds not available in NZ or Australia for tomorrow! Wonder if this is the way Entain/TAB are now going to operate by putting up odds and then taking them away when they feel like it? Punters in NZ can not bet on account or Agency until when I wonder? Does anyone at all know what is going on here or could a spokesman for the TAB please explain what is happening? Interesting that the NZ gallops are still available? How on earth is this a way of increasing turnover?

Some will like the new web site and different info! Personally I dont see any advantages but then again Entain/ Tab will appreciate that . The Ozzies bet on anything and dont need helpful info. It appears pretty clear that they want win betting and not place betting going by their actions over the past few weeks! Do not believe that Entain are here for the betterment of racing, some of us can clearly see that, despite what some are telling us!

Not sure what is going on, the accuracy of some of the information they have on the site is shocking! The horse comments are an absolute waste of time! Anyone with half a brain can see automatically what they are saying. HRNZ website for info and comments is a helluva lot better than the TAB site now.

What I do know is that the harness odds since they appear to being set by the Ozzies mostly seem like less value than before! There was nothing worth having a crack at last night at Addington and same at Rangiora on Sunday. If Entain/TAB are looking to increase the turnover they are deluded if they think this is going to happen with their current Bookies in Oz!!!!!! just looked again just now and they have taken down all fixed odds for tomorrow????????

Probably a lot less than you TAB? I know he was in a training partnership with Frank Cooney for a decade with reasonable success. Driving stats show that driving probably wasnt his forte. Great to see wins by stables that arent always winning the big ones!

The Darkside is discussing the fact and some are are not happy that the maximum payout for Final Field single bets/multis has possibly been reduced to 250k lol What about certain punters who have a maximum payout of as little as $20 on some bets and pathetically low maximums on others???????? And you wonder why BRODIE continues to question the LEGALITY AND MORALITY of the TAB/Entains unfair actions that continue to limit some punters to pathetic amounts and yet others can win $1m or $250k??? Until such time as the TAB treat punters equally, I will continue to call them out for their bad behaviour!

Maybe it was Gordon Middleton that raced the 2 year olds and Carl only had trotters? Was Fancy Fred trained by Gordon? Gordon always had 2 year olds in the first 2 year old races as well as Des Grice! Carl was known to be a great bloke from what I have heard

Wondering what our previous Kiwi Bookmakers are now doing in Petone? You can tell probably almost everything is now being performed from out of Australia, from the info to the odd setting! The Bookies over there are already changing many things as far as wagering goes and not in favour of the punter! I note the first race as an opportunity for a head to head, not that they let Brodie on though!lol Previously the head to heads were put out by our Kiwi Bookmakers at $1.85 so they were making 15cents . Basically if they considered an even chance you would get $1.85 back for each dollar wagered. I note that the Entain Bookies now want more of the pie, they are offering $1.80 now so in effect paying out 5% less than they were paying last week when the Kiwi Bookies appeared to be setting the odds! The first race head to head odds are 1.75 and $1.85 I wonder if this is their new offering or a mistake, or they just want more of the pie?

There is no logical reason to be giving the North Island more meetings with the no. of horses and owners declining! Entain is a major gambling outfit that now have been control of NZ gambling for 25 long years! History will show that they are making a big mistake but I am sure there is a reason for it, which I believe I know why! I can not possibly believe that the no.of owners in the North Island has not decreased by more than they are saying, or the no. Of horses racing would not have declined so much! Going to be very interesting the next few years, and hopefully things will improve from what they currently are! Wouldnt be holding my breath as it wouldnt worry Entain if harness racing didnt exist here as they have got gold of what they wanted! If anyone disagrees that is fine but give us your reasons, The fact that already a-lot of the work is being done from Ozzie, does not give me a lot of confidence that they are too worried about the Kiwis.

The biggest problem is totally that there are very few new owners coming through! Does anyone know of any new owners in the last few years? I don’t, and that is one of the biggest issues that will see harness racing die out! the costs are just too prohibitive for the average person to be able to afford to race a horse for any amount of stake money! The stake money is also going to decrease massively once Entain decide they have enough of propping the racing up financially, as they will not be getting enough wagering due to their flawed business policies. Does anyone seriously believe that Entain’s involvement will ensure the future viability of harness racing in NZ? If so, why?

Yes it still exists but think it is now only over a mile and has very few starters in recent years.

Did we all know that the harness horses race at Cambridge on a SYNTHETIC TRACK? I certainly wasnt aware of that, have always been under the misapprehension that it was an all weather track! Great to see the Ozzies have been doing their homework before launching!!

Will be interesting as it is the same format as they use in Oz The Ozzies bet on anything and probably dont care about having info that we like 👍 Wouldnt think they would be changing much as they are going to be doing it all from Ozzie! There are several things that are missing Walt! Appears they have done away with bring able to watch the race on the web site as well? Info coming from oz, they are saying that Motukarara is an allweather track, and Ascot Park is turf Lol
