  1. I didnt say anything about stakes being higher when inflation adjusted?????. They were higher than $9k decades ago!!
  2. Can’t read Michaels posts as I blocked the Clown, but what I said that the amount that the supporting races were at $9k, they were racing for more than this decades ago!!!!!!!!!
  3. Davis, yes I know the season date and horse birthday has changed. My point was that we used to have 2 year old races starting in November and yet here we have June and we onLy have 5 fillies starting in a $30k race! Certainly pointless betting into 5 horse races but there have been some races that can be profitable at this time, if you can get enough on! Yes the hopeless Labour Party has got to me, just unbelievable how citizens can think that they are doing a good job. Just an absolute mess they have made of everything and we still have another year or more to go! They are all diabolical but what would you expect differently when there is not one that has had any success in life
  4. The blame for most of the things going on at the moment stems from the crap that is coming from our supposed government!!! The cost of living, the shortage of labour, the ram raids, the shootings, the shortage of hospital beds, the higher than should be interest rates, the cost of housing, the shortage accommodation for thousands, the immigration issues, this Three Waters BS! The most incompetent bunch the country has ever had in Wellington!
  5. Great to be optimistic Gamma, and certainly would love harness racing to thrive both in NEW ZEALAND and Australia! It is just a sad indictment when there are 7 or less horses racing in the 3 biggest stakes races at Ashburton Queens Birthday! Harness is at a crossroads currently. Yes syndicates are great to get people involved and there are several people in NZ doing a fantastic job. Believe we are not attracting enough owners or new punters into the sport going forward.
  6. Gamma, the Sapling Stakes is a farce nowadays, it used to be a respected race, but no longer! $50k stake and we now have a field whittled down to 7 which is pathetic!!!!! 4 of the 7 starters are AllStars and they will probably run 1,2,3,4 unfortunately! This is serious for harness racing in NZ and hard to see how it is going to improve as owners and trainers get the stitch from shelling out big dollars to get buggerall back! With the cost of living currently due to our incompetent bunch in Wellington it is hard to see any new owners being enticed into ownership of harness horses in the future! The support races on Sunday racing for amounts of $9k to my mind is hardly inspiring for owners when they were racing for more than this several decades ago!!
  7. Na I doubt it was Chief!
  8. Gamma, well aware that the new season and horse birth date is now January however it was always previously always August, and we used to have far more than 5 fillies willing to race for $30k!!! Reality is that the no.s have been dropping for many years! Many of us know that it is not financially viable to race a horse nowadays as there is very little chance of winning decent money with AllStars plundering the big stakes! We were told that Purdon/Rasmussen were taking an enforced break from training, however that was a load of BS! The rumour mill has advised us why they were going to do that!!
  9. What is happening to our harness racing when we have only 5 2 year old fillies racing for $30k in June?? How has it got so bad that 2 months from turning 3 years old, we only have 5 fillies that want to race for 30k? Reality is that there are not that many owners or trainers that want to race against the AllStars as they are so difficult to beat but surely there must be more 2 year old fillies around? Yes many will say that it is up to other trainers to lift their game to compete with the Blue and Silver colours, but anyone with half a brain will know that it isn’t going to happen! As Brodie has been saying for many years now, the domination by AllStars of the bigger stakes races is hugely detrimental in progressing harness racing! Seems pretty pointless that the NZ TAB has brought out the Fixed Odds early for this 5 horse race! Anyway, hope everyone has an enjoyable Queens Birthday weekend.👍
  10. The industry including the monetary and mental cost to the charged!! The incompetents that were involved in bringing the charges should be given the boot! Absolute load of BS from day one and this BS is in most parts of society nowadays! People need to wake up and fight back from what js going on and the first step is to vote the Communist controlling losers out next year. Apparently we dont live in NZ anymore it is bloody Aotearoa!!! Tell them to go take a running jump!
  11. Listened to the Michael Guerin interview with Bookmaker Matt Peden in regards to the 2000 minimum payout by the NZ TAB! It is only for Fixed odds WIN Bets only! Wonder why this is, as it is a bit of a Claytons really and although it is benefit to some, it also is of just as much benefit to the TAB! If a punter on opening puts enough on to net $2k they will just slash the fixed odds! It takes buggerall to net $2k with a win bet, 200@$11 is all it takes so a wager of $200 lol!!! Hardly life changing news for punters and yet it is being painted as this amazing offer from the TAB😆! Come on NZ TAB make it on all fixed odds bets, but you wont do that will you?
  12. There are several Rules that have been brought in and approved by HRNZ over the past decade or two that are just plain lunacy!!! There was absolutely nothing at all wrong with the rules so why change them? Edward Rennell was somewhat to blame when he was in power to change to the pathetic previous one to the BS one they currently have. The Animal Rights or Safe did not have their sights on the use of the harness whip and even if they did, tell them to go JUMP,! As Chief says Colin De Filippi is hardly an aggressive driver and yet he has his livelihood culled by a blatantly incompetent bunch! Harness racing is seriously in major trouble on many fronts, due to poor decision making by the people who should be looking after its interests!!
  13. Correct Ranga. I thought in this day of correctness everyone was meant to be treated without bias?
  14. Fair enough Lol Amazing what you can do between trials and race day isnt it!
  15. Of course no problems 2 year olds racing not against their age group! Personally wasnt that impressed with that Nike sin in that trial as it didnt run much time overall and the runner up Sam Payne horse that qualified went equally well. Total respect for the AllStar horses and clearly must have a good show or they would not be lining up. Just dont think either have been overly impressive and against race winners believe will be difficult to win . Maybe I am not on the money but my opinion. Far better betting option in that race!
  16. Lol thats probably a fair reason then! Going to be tough all the same up against race winners on what they have shown so far!
  17. Not sure why but does anyone know why the 2 AllStars 2 year old maiden fillies are in race 6 against race winners? Surely they couldve started in race 3 against non winners and a far easier field than race 6. Interesting as well that the race 6 with multiple winners stake money is less than the non winners race! Not questioning AllStars ability to put their horses in the best race, but to my mind they are going to have to be better than what they have shown to win race 6. They have shown a wee bit but at this stage neither look like top fillies, although I am sure many will disagree. There are a couple in race 6 that can run time so it is going to be interesting 🤔
  18. Depends who you are as to how much they let you on for! Punters are not treated equally, used to be but they havent been for many years now! If you are a known losing punter then they are more than happy to take their bets, but show any ability to win and they will quickly chop you off!! They tend to take bigger bets on Sports as that is where they tend to make the most money and costs them very little. I did think it was a bit odd last night when it was posted that the NZ TAB was going to be KIND and let any punter net $2k on any bet! I did say I would believe it when I saw it and it appears Brodie was on the money! Hope they do make it on any bet but doubt they will as they want everything in their favour!!!
  19. So it is only fixed win bets, NOT Place etc!!!! They need to grow some!! Not beneficial to “The Brodster” at all . Good for some punters though
  20. Looks like it is only on Fixed Win bets! Nothing else so Na it isnt as good as it first appeared! Come on NZ TAB, open it up to every bet! Play fair the odds are always on your side!,,
  21. Michael Guerin says any bet $2k net! So it should be as well.
  22. This is why the TAB should be allowing punters on for bigger amounts. The restrictions are partly to blame for harness racing going backwards and it is long overdue to be encouraging punters on. Yes they will lose sometimes but that is good for them as they will get it back in spades if they introduce new punters into the fray. At the moment they are driving punters away in to get a better gross yield. Stupid business plan that is!
  23. Gamma, it says ANY BET, so not just fixed win bets! This is long overdue if they want to keep harness racing alive.
  24. Yes the amount you can net on a winning bet. Different punters have different level of restrictions They turn punters off with their restrictions so hopefully this isnt a load of bull, because they need punters ! Yes only restrictions on Fixed Odds and have not heard of restricted punters on Sports betting but there probably are.
  25. Fair point, but to be fair Ardern has certainly not acted in the best interest of every citizen of NZ over the past 4 years or so!!!!!! The most incompetent Prime Minister this country has ever seen and is ably assisted by a bunch of useless muppets!!!!
