Chief, it seems that you are blaming the whole incident on Ms. Wakelin? The current rule where you can bowl a horse and keep your placing no questions asked is blatantly WRONG! How many enquiries now have we had where a horse checks another and it is relegated or disqualified? Can not remember too many or any. I know that Blair Orange is a great horseman and a supporter of his as you probably are aware of! However in a big stake race Blair made a gap for his horse by contacting another and caused a tightening that was the reason for Ready I am to be euthanised! What the Stipes do today is pretty insignificant nowadays compared to what they should be doing! It is all about the dollar a d not about fairness!

Blair is an extremely talented horseman and harness racing can ve a very dangerous sport for the participants. By allowing the drivers to become reckless in a race at all costs is just not good enough and yet no ENQUIRY?????? Go figure, the STIPES are not performing!

Does anyone know who is setting the odds for harness racing at the moment? There seems to be quite a few nowadays including today at Motukarara that have opened at well under what they should be! Probably end up with egg on my face but examples are 1. Slainte. $6 2. Whakarehu $2.70? 11. Artatac $2.10?? Slainte won a trial at Ashburton allweather only 3 in it and used to gallop down south. Where there is smoke as they say but drawn one on the grass! Whakarehu? What has it done to be so short, apart from Blair in the cart? Artatac. $2.10 seriously? Been going poor and it is $2.10? There are a few that are good chances that are at good odds so is anyone prepared to back the above at those odds?

Blair tried to take a gap that wasnt there to shat I can see, forcing the tiring Prince Teka inwards. Would like to see the head on of what happened in the last 100 metres!! From the replay it clearly appears that Blair took a gap that was not there! If this is the case how ln earth is there not an enquiry into what happened and the winner ousted???? The Michael House stable has approx. 15 horses to race at Addington tonight! As far as I can recall Michael has never had so many starters at Addington before. This team is the ones that he has had racing at Palmerston North and Southland where we all probably think the class of horse is inferior to Addington class! It is going to be very interesting to see if his horses are competitive as a lot of them were probably past their best in Canterbury before, but they will be very fit. Good on him for lining them up!

Gamma was stating that the Allstars would improve the Dunn beach trained horses as well! It can not be just a straight track! Is is different feed, different work or different supplements and remedies?

So the question needs to be asked? What are the AllStars doing differently that can improve a horse even trained by the a premiership winning trainers the Dunns?.

Gamma, no it is not just about the money, there is also the enjoyment of the sport! However the harness industry has gone backwards over the last few decades and the erosion seems to have set in! Auckland was once a very strong city with strong fields but now it is stuffed due to many decisions. As I have said many times the $ is not the most important thing but I enjoy the challenge as per the previous slogan, “you know the odds now beat them”.

Yes of course I would rather watch a non winners race as I would more likely have had an investment on it, as I would never have one on “The Race by Grins”. Rising Star I didnt think had to be a young horse does it????? I am pleased you get some humour from “The Brodster” we sure need it after the last couple of years.

The restrictions on punters is a handbrake to harness racing. Why dont the TAB advertise the fact that they will only accept bets from losing punters and be transparent. When they restrict punters to netting $20 on a Top 2 or Top 4 bet then they may as well get rid of the option. The TAB is a gambling agency that offers odds but only to people they want to! At the end of the day they are causing more harm than good as they are not encouraging new punters to the industry and without the punters, racing is going to die. They may well restrict winning punters from winning large amounts however they will never stop them from winning and they are driving people off the industry
