  1. Look it can only go one way! Good to see Jason Teaz on it but unfortunate beginning and Jason looks so embarrassed . Great idea but dont think too many will be watching channel 83 for the actual race
  2. Walt, the damp track will probably help Franco Marek tonight! You could well have the last laugh tonight lol
  3. No problem, time will tell Walt. Rangiora win didnt impress me too much at all lol It beat some less than average horses by buggerall and last quarter it ran in 29.9 which is not flash. Anyway let us see how it performs tonight at Addington
  4. Of course it would be very boring if everyone agreed with everyone All the time. Just from watching Franco Marek’s allweather track runs showed to me that it was a good horse but nothing very glod. The win at Rangiora it ran the last quarter in 29.9 and did not appear to have much left in the tank? It also only best some very ordinary horses after having an economical run. At the end of the day it may well prove Brodie wrong and you correct and I will not be on the money. Always be a first! Lol
  5. Personally dont think Franco Marek is that good! Yes all you can do is win but to be fair it hasnt beaten anything of any class, It has looked pretty good on the grass but the big test will be tonight at Addington against better horses than it has raced before! It has a quite high pacing action in the front which tends to suggest it will be better on the grass surfaces. Probably have egg on my face but from what I have seen it will struggle to win many more races including tonight!
  6. Surefire way of doing your dough! No one makes money long term backing the shorties Ranga! Might as well buy the Crypto!
  7. The races that they got the early fixed odds are the crap races, the supporting races do often have horses worth having a go. Why the crap races with a handfull of starters?
  8. Yeah they are the Group Races, but they are crap races that are not worth the effort! Why bother as you would be a mug punter betting on those shorties, punters that back them for any significant amount would be losing punters. Why not bring all the races out as not sure how much they get on early as they never tell us!
  9. Hope it works as it is needed. Nigel Armstrong fronting it at Addington will be good. Hardworking enthusiast that needs rewarded. There are several unpaid enthusiasts that do a great job for harness. Will be great to just have harness and not the dogs or gallops.
  10. Addington and Auckland both race on Friday night! The Bookies yesterday brought out the Fixed Odds on the SHIT races not worth betting on at Auckland! If they do this on races not worth wagering on then why not bring some out on Addington as well where the punters will actually offload?
  11. The biggest problem without doubt as I see it, is the fact that the industry is not doing anything to attract new punters! The fact is the TAB and harness NZ are actually doing the total opposite in that they are losing punters! I know several punters who just do not bother anymore, that going oncourse and to an outlet to wager! The actions being employed currently will also ensure that therr wont be enough owners coming thru to ensure the success of harness racing! The economy and cost of living going forward for the coming generations is going to ensure that most will not be able to afford the training costs which are substantial nowadays! Things need to change and no amount of brainstorming will do anything without correct actions!
  12. Appears to be a few more people at the races back then, by the look of it? What has changed things so much? Trackside? NZ TAB? More places to spend your $? Commentary was not too bad either!
  13. Think the wet track was the reason!
  14. Anything goes Ludwig! When punting on standing starts, punters just have to take their chances! To be fair they tend to be better in Canterbury than they used to be, but that wouldnt be too hard. The best drivers seem to know how to get the advantage by walking up rather than standing.!
  15. The wet track and the unruly probably helped her. She aint going to win from the unruly unless the field is extremely weak and not sure where that is likely to be as she wouldnt get around Palmy in the Michael House colours! Lizzie has some speed but has not got the brain to make it worthwhile racing her! Then again there are a lot of owners that are prepared to shell out thousands every month to have a horse racing!
  16. Yeah right! A mare that needs to go to the paddock Ranga! She is not going to win anything from the unruly and she will gallop if she is in the field! Pointless racing her until she knows how to pace, too many issues! Even if she ever won a race it is going to cost a heck of a lot more in training fees to make it a worthwhile effort!!!
  17. Just watched the replay of the said race on April 21st that the Stipes didnt like the way Ian Cameron used the whip! Absolutely pathetic If this is what harness racing has become! Seriously it is well overdue that the drivers all got together to go up against these bullies and they need to get HRNZ to have the stupid rule corrected!!! How on earth can anyone have any confidence in harness racing when the ones controlling and making the rules are total DICKHEADS?
  18. Yay she is back again for another chance to race allowed by the Stipes! Race 2 Ashburton over 1700 metres, Terry Chmiel in the cart again! I suppose being only over 1700m on the big track and UNRULY it gives her only 1700metres to gallop. The track is likely to be damp so maybe this will give her a chance to stay down without galloping? Would be good if she she could possibly pace the whole race so that the loyal who keep thinking she could win get an opportunity! The truth of the matter is that this horse has had more chances than it deserved and should have been banned for a lengthy period! The thing is the Stipes are too busy hammering drivers like Ian Cameron that actually want to win the race they are in!!!!
  19. Ranga, not my fault I got big fingers and I dont tell my Ipad to to change words!! Still busy selling Sleepers!
  20. It really is sickening that these socalled Stiles are allowed to fine and suspend drivers for doing nothing that a punter wouldnt want them to do! As The Galah just stated, there were many drivers that gave their horses absolutely no chance of running a place by just sitting there and not trying!!!!!!!an owner of those horses that werent given a chance by their drivers!!! If I was an owner of one of those horses that werent put into the race, I would be far more pissed off than if my driver tapped my horse using an elbow movement! The Dickheads that approved the last 2 whip rules should hang their heads in shame and admit that they were Dickheads for changing a rule that actually worked!!!
  21. personally think Ian Cameron was a wee bit too mild with his comments! FFS drivers are being fined or suspended for wanting to win a race!!!! The last two whip rules are just blatantly stupid and the drivers should be telling the incompetent Stipes to stick their whip rule up their arse!!!! There is absolutely no INTEGRITY coming from the officialdom at all and they will drive people away from the industry! Who is this Paul Williams???? Not going to mention any names or give their initials, but there are several that are just not up to using any common sense and are on the gravy train. The trainers and drivers are out in all weathers and working massive hours for very little financial return! These fat cats that are fining the drivers and affecting their livelihood with pathetic decisions do very little and will be rewarded financially for mediocrity!! Racing Integrity has gone out the back door with this current lot!!!!
  22. Lol no comment!
  23. Gamma, not too sure you shouldve put that last line??
  24. What I do know is if Michael House dies go to the gallopers then u would say Palmerston North is Goooone!
  25. Ricky May’s drive on Bettorlini was not great and as I say he probably admits it in hindsight! However, these things do happen and Matthew Williamson’s drive on Gypsy yesterday was a shocker as well, from a driver that represented NZ at the world drivers champs ! Havent checked to see whether he was asked about it from the Stipes? Gypsy was very poorly driven last start as well as Matthew did not appear too interested as he stayed on the fence and got held up badly! Yes I backed it last start and said never again! Yesterday when very short, Matthew put the horse in the race by easing early and then making a run at the 1400m and sitting parked and gone at the 400metres, easily beaten! Now anyone that follows Canterbury racing should know that Gypsy was going to stop as it needs a sit! Not sure at all what he was thinking as he was never going to get to the front? Racing is like that, we think as punters that we know what we are doing and then we are wrecked by the drivers actions which basically is what governs whether we win or lose! Personally do not think there was any skullduggery going on with the Loyalist/ Bettorlini race and as The Galah states, it takes very little to alter odds on a fixed odds bet, especially if they know who the punter is! Harness racing is struggling in NZ and has been for a long time and this Covid BS has certainly not helped. We all need to hang in there to get thru this and we are not being helped at the moment by several paid parties who in my humble opinion are doing a crap job!
