Karrots, yes we do need to get people back’ oncourse, for thr same of racing! It is just not Auckland, Addington doesnt get many oncourse nowadays, all the regulars just do not go anymore, and there are several reasons for that! Not sure charging people will get people oncourse and do not think that will work! Yes Auckland has got a big population and you would think that they would have heaps turn up at their meetings. The dining is the reason that the crowds are bigger on certain nights rather than the actual racing! To be fair Auckland racing is downright boring compared to Addington so they are battling. Saturday nights would be better to attract crowds rather than Friday however I believe that the clubs just dont want to work on that night. .

I dont think I have seen such small fields at Cambridge before! Whether it was the lockdown that horses are not quite ready, if not then North Island harness racing is stuffed.

Yield means buggerall when compared to net profit. Yes good to have a good yield but it is the bottom line that matters! Increase the turnover and the profit will normally be much higher! The NZ TAB have increased the yield on the back of having far less turnover than they could have, their business plan is very flawed! Turn off the punters away from offloading and you lose them from the industry, which reduces owners and also introduction of new people to the racing industry. We are seeing that now but all the Suits at the TAB are interested in is their big fat salaries.

Racing as a young lad was exciting. $1 place was even exciting when your horse paid a div. Used to run a fair way to Addington from home and there was always the turnstiles where the adults had to pay to get in. Next door there was always a man in a write coat ( Not Sunnyside worker) who collected the tickets from the members or guest tickets that did not have to pay. It was free for kids under 18 if accompanied by an adult. Dont think you were meant to be there under 18 unaccompanied. I wasnt 18 when I was going and it was always walk thru the gate quickly and point to the right as if your adult was coming thru the turnstile! Every now and again the old fellah would carch you out but let you in Anyway lol. ahh the great days of exciting racing ! Parents would put the bets on at the TAB agencies then you would go to the course to watch. No fixed odds but some great collects.

Best experiences in harness racing was when I started going out to Addington on a Saturday Night with my mother, full stands and an atmosphere that no longer exists! Manual Tote Board, On Course Doubles, collecting cash at the TAB agencies rather than having to now accept Betting vouchers as they do not have enough cash on hand! Good memories long past, was being offered Fixed Odds by the NZ Bookies at the TAB and being able to wager on horses without being restricted to pathetic low amounts!

I can not see what Michael,Mike or whoever he goes by, apart from what someone else quotes he has said, thank goodness! However, you would think that he wouldve been able to handle Level 4 lockdown better than most, due to his experience? No doubt he will reply because that is all that he can do, with some sort of low level response. IifThere will be no punters allowed on courses for a long while if you are only allowed 100 under Comrade Arderns rules! There wont be any room for owners either ! This crap has to stop but no doubt so many will think that we should be very Kind and stay home and be very scared still! Well done to those that can beat the TAB! You need to bet only fixed odds as the tote pools are so small now compared to years ago. If you can consistently make money on Premier meetings then well done! Give me a non winners race any day, however would like the NZ TAB to do what Ardern says and be KIND! I am not bothering wagering on NZ harness at the moment due to the likelihood that some horses may nit be totally race fit. Anyway, busy with a project at the mo that will reap rewards in spades, so TAB doesnt need me just like I dont need them!

Look I do not want to see animals mistreated either! However I believe you are missing the point majorly! Greyhound racing has been around for many decades in NZ and all of a sudden, there is an outcry and Swarbrick and her goody two shoes buddies want the greyhound breed eliminated, as that is what will happen if racing is canned! No one is going to breed greyhounds just as pets! Greyhounds are not mistreated in fact are well looked after as why would owners or trainers not have an interest in mistreating them? What is the difference between greyhounds or race horses as all ex race horses are not often rehomed once they can not run fast enough! There are a helluva lot more pressing issues that Swarbrick could be concentrating on. What about the number of homeless people, people deceased due to suicide and broke businesses and broke marriages, all due to the draconian measures that of Ardern and co. She will not eradicate virus and she should stop lieing about the effectiveness of Pfizer and tell everyone of the consequences!

Karrots I did offer my opinion on Jason Teaz! The thing is that what Ardern and her fellow nillers are doing currently is far more important than harness racing or anything else!!!! The issue is that so many people or sheep are just so far under her spell that they can not see what she is doing to a once amazing country! In four years or so her and Tubby and Bloomfield have estowed so much debt on the coming generations. Her policies that have all totally failed have contributed majorly to the fact that many more. people than necessary will never ever own their own home and in fact be in financial trouble all of their lives! You are delusional if you believe they are on the right track sith what they are doing in regard to lockdowns and eradication of the coviid19 flu virus! Even the almighty Dan Andrews the Victorian premier dictator has now backtracked on eradication!
