Yes its amazing how average horses seem improve with mile racing whether at menangle or the good ole u.s of a....and people go nuts when the horses run a time of 1.50 etc, but that's how the tracks are manicured for speed and can make average horses seem better...Waikiki beach is a good example, excelled on the menangle track and won 15+ races in a row, then came back to nz and was soon found out.......I agree with you Brodie, I enjoy a mile race if its once a year like the miracle mile or the old pan am mile, but not all the time, becomes a bore fest!!

I used to enjoy Glynn Tucker's program, also paddy O'Donnell radio racing show + Phil leishman when he was on t.v, Des's radio show he does on a Sunday is pretty good too, Des along with peter early are the last of the old guard not scared to ask the hard questions especially P Early. The rest are just puppets now from the nzrb.
