I'm quite enjoying the relative, peace quiet and harmony ...
  2. and at Singapore on Friday night The Big Easy ...4 from 7 now and running fast times, mostly on the Poly. Has learned not to fight the rider so much and take a trail. If he turns to be half as good as his sire Super Easy over there, could go to the top level quite quickly.
  3. I began this thread some weeks ago, soon after the Christchurch terror attacks. 'To change the name or not to change the name, that is the question.' As time goes on, I have become more assured in the view that, despite the potential power of a symbolic gesture towards modern-day inclusiveness of all races, religions, cultures etc, it is more sensible to NOT change the name. An interesting perspective is in today's Herald. https://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/news/article.cfm?c_id=4&objectid=12224431 MM
  4. yessir, he loves gallops, trots and doggies in equal measure! .
  5. Following the pure debacle of the Riverton Monday 'Fields That Never Were', the TAB outdo themselves with this brilliant piece of analysis for a runner at Sandown (R1 #10 Flirting) Solid debut performance on debut.
  6. now i am worried to the (Mustelid) Max(imus) !! Have you had too many Easter Eggs?
  7. cheers for that, Fred...and I think you've just given me a new nickname....!
  8. You may have also also mean money grabbing?! Still, money grubbing works almost as well. Bawsteds all the same.
  9. I'm not disrespecting the winner, you can only beat what else lines up, BUT...I think the 'powers that be' should relook where this race sits in the overall pattern for 2yos... it would in my view be much better as a Gp 2 or even Gp 1 1400m race. Keep it at 1600m if they must but for goodness' sake elevate its stake/status so its attractive to some of the best 2yos in the land. As an aside, Castalvecchio won the Champagne Stakes at Randwick yesterday, also over 1600m ona Good track...but he ran over 4 seconds faster ..what's that, about 15-20L?
  10. John Allen is (or should be) a goneburger
  11. Has anyone considered that these are babies running 1600m for the first time? Not many 2yos are going to go at a strong clip and then sprint hard for 300m, so there's quite an incentive for the 'sit and sprint' option in this case. I'd be quite happy for the race to be over 1400m not 1600m (despite its history), making it the upper North Island equivalent to the Sires in the CD. Imagine if they invested some $$ in it and had an autumn version of the Karaka Million (even if it were worth half a million!) I thought the field yesterday was distinctly average, small field, a poor betting race and therefore a big yawn.
  12. Of course not ...TC has a clear interest in seeing out the Comp!
  13. perhaps those concerned might have showed their respect to PJ and ALL OTHER SUPER COMP CONTESTANTS before showing their selfish, careless attitudes displayed over the last few days
  14. having an even better gallop .... (sorry, couldnt resist!!) MM
  15. MUSTELID MEDIA RELEASE (abbreviated to bullet points for the sake of everyone's sanity) Contrary to a recent allegation, captain Mustelid of The Rock Stars has not spent 'too much time underground'. He has merely asserted certain points of view with respect to the operation of BOAY and the recent debacle that resulted in the sad loss of TC and N1MUE from it. Mustelid Maximus is impervious to the slings and arrows of outrageous niggle-some remarks intended to spoil his enjoyment of BOAY, its multitude of reasonable, entertaining and luvable Members (including you, Howie!), and in particular the Competitions run by the legendary PJ on this site. The clearly focused eyes of this Mustelid and his Awesome Foursome are on tomorrow's Semi-Finals - an event of no interest to the posters of nigglesome remarks, probably because they failed to qualify. You might say they Reaped What They Did Sew ..and perhaps they did sew Sour Grapes and harvest them bountifully. Grim. Very Grim. Onwards and upwards, Rock Stars...study well and enjoy the Big Day tomorrow and trust in each other to give them TooFartyAgain some serious wind along the way. LET'S DO IT THEM BEFORE THEY DO IT TO US! MM D:
  16. and so have you, Hesi! The big difference being that this is CS' s site. He makes the rules, and prospers (or not) according to the way the site is managed. You and Pete set up your own version - mainly because you disagreed with CS's approach to Moderation of certain 'posters' - and didn't attract an audience sufficient to justify the time/energy/money invested. Poor form, old boy! Many people are loyal to this site because it is almost invariably good fun (esp the Comps) /well managed/insightful.
  17. and highly ironic, Hesi, that having done your darnedest to sabotage BOAY for your own new (defunct) site you 'quit' BOAY last weekend but can't help yourself and cant resist having one more crack. Disappointing.
  18. And am I missing something? (Mustelids generally don't miss anything important!) My understanding is that TC (rather injudiciously) changed only the last line of Howie's post re which side was leading the Super Draft comp week by week ...replacing 'Too Fast Again' with 'Stranger Things' at the end of the final round of qualifying ...nothing to do with picks being changed. Nothin' at all, at all at all." as my Irish cousin Paddy O'Mustelid would say. MM PS: Kiss and make up, please. It's so much more fun when people are kind to each other.
  19. Fully agree with John Galvin and syndicate owners. What I don't agree with is the call to race in New Zealand in the Spring. Totally nuts when there is huge money on offer overseas. I'd be taking the McKee/Sunline approach and targeting the Cox Plate but racing in Melbourne earlier in the Spring. MB can race handy, has explosive turn of foot (needed at the Valley), is a real fighter (even over 2000m) and copes well with all sorts of track conditions. My only query with her - and I was a doubter until she won the Bonecrusher - is the fact that she didn't do very well in Oz as a 3yo. Can't remember the races she contested, just recall she didnt excel. Different animal now, though! Good luck to the syndicate. Exciting times ahead.
  20. Good evening from Bedrock. Sadness and gloom here tonight, as I catch up with the debacle of The Crucible choosing to depart. Here's my tuppence worth. Everyone Has Over-Reacted. The initial post from TC was intended to be a joke, was spotted by Chestnut and 'called out'. TC admitted the error, apologised and made a commitment to 'not do it again'. That should have been End of Story. But no, The Chief over-reacts in a well-meaning attempt to assert the importance of Integrity .. and next thing you know the bunfight begins and everyone wants to throw the toys out of the cot. ALL SO UNNECESSARY. UNHELPFUL. UNKIND. WHERE IS THE LOVE, GOOD PEOPLE? Personally, I'd like to see TC return. i think it's important that he does. (Do I have to start a petition?) I mean, in his finale from the Departure Lounge, he even called me his 'current nemesis' and his mate ... we can't develop our mateship if he doesn't come back!!!! ... And that word means a lot to this Mustelid. In an online community of people you don't know in the real world, we Weasels really value our mates. So ..I'd like CS to make peace with TC, and TC to say all is forgiven and learn the lesson; and I'd like My Friend Maria The Chestnut to continue being her usual alert, kind, tolerant and wise self and have a hugely successful match this weekend in the Super Comp (and go H2H with Mustelid Maximus in the Final. LOL). And thats a lot of words for just tuppence. Thanks! MM
  21. the latter
  22. rilliant win by Verry Elleegant, I will never dount her staying ability again!! Also rooting for Koepka to win for the punter with the big cajones. Wouldnt mind Tiger completing the greatest comeback since Lazarus either.
  23. Thanks guys, hope you got a few $$... just caught up with the video of the race...what a spanking. One to watch, could develop into a handy stayer.
  24. Koepka can win! And as I recall, Verry Ellegant overraced badly in the VRC Oaks; she'll be stronger and wiser now from the racing, gear changes look to have helped.her relax..BUT there only needs to be one better (than her) at the trip! Would be great for Kiwis and her sire!
  25. and has never raced over 2400m ...under the odds for mine, though I think she is a fine animal..just not sure is she is a typical Zed or too brilliant to stay the trip
