  1. As for 2:02 across tracks. tracks are all different. Flemington runs a reasonable number under 2:02. Albury is a fast track over 2000m and Caulfield is pretty quick also. Te Rapa would be NZ's fastest track generally over 2000m in my opinion (excluding Thames which runs on some hard tracks and goes reasonably quick times)
  2. That comes from some historic references that have been made in this thread. So I don't know what times they ran in the 20th century. But in the 21st, they don't run the times suggested often, if at all.
  3. Expect 2:02 or better. Where are you getting your times from. We are in the 21st century.
  4. Funnily enough, I have times for 3500 horses running over 1200m at Riccarton. On a G3, 8 times have they run 1.08 or better. Perhaps you can show me all these 1.08s. I only have 27 horses on any condition running 1.08 or better. Are these 1.08s hidden from the public? Can you give a race where they have run 1.08 or better in the last year at Riccarton over 1200? As for the 2:05, one race is meaningless of the track state. And even 2:05 is OK for 2000m on a G3. Take a look at Vantaa winning in February this year. 2:08+ on a track rated G3. maybe all the times they rate it a G3, it is wrong.
  5. I think your nom numbers are a bit out generally. Most Vic meetings get 200 - 350. And Pakenham tomorrow have 249 and Geelong last Friday had 185. Although I'm not entirely sure what the number of noms means for the industry. I'd rather bet on a synthetic than any NZ track. And so would the majority of Australasian punters.
  6. in my view, the first race is consistent with a G3. In fact, for a maiden to run that put it into the top 50% of all runs on a G3 over that distance on that track. And to put that into perspective, it would be in the top 25% of runs if it was as slow as a 4. The races were generally around expected for a G3 on that track for the types of horses. And they were faster than what you would expect from a 4. And unheard of for a 5 in the case of the 1.09.5 1200m performances. So I'd say, it ran like a 3 all day.
  7. Absolutely Freda. Riders not taking action for some reasons. If the pace is slow, their mount isn't disadvantaged by running to the pace that actually suits the horse, so should be attempting to run to that. Those that sit back doing nothing are allowing the races to unfold the way they do.
  8. As it seems to be often the case, my view is the contra to this. I don't believe rail out does anything to disadvantage back runners EXCEPT if the rail is so far out that a) the runners are cornering past any crown of the track or b) the track has become so narrow there is insufficient room for the horses. I would say a) or b) is very rare.
  9. The internationals in quarantine currently would be one of the bigger lists in a while I think. And this doesn't include any targeting just the cup. Not all may actually come over, but a number are down for staying with local trainers. Racing Victoria has provided the following list of the spring raiders in quarantine in England: • Benbatl (Saeed bin Suroor) • Best Solution (Saeed bin Suroor) • Prizemoney (Saeed bin Suroor) • Comicas (Charlie Appleby) • Cross Counter (Charlie Appleby) • Emotionless (Charlie Appleby) • Hamada (Charlie Appleby) • Count Octave (Andrew Balding) • Duretto (Andrew Balding) • Red Verdon (Ed Dunlop) • Prince Of Arran (Charlie Fellowes) • Withhold (Roger Charlton) • Dal Harraild (Ciaron Maher and David Eustace) • Pharrell (Ciaron Maher and David Eustace) • Langley (Darren Weir) • Casterton (Chris Waller) • Finche (Chris Waller) • Shraaoh (Chris Waller) • Gustavus Vassa (Hayes, Hayes and Dabernig) • Marathon Man (Mike Moroney) • Sound Check (Mike Moroney) • Danon Distance (Trainer to be advised) Following is a list of the horses in quarantine in Ireland: • Cliffs Of Moher (Aidan O’Brien) • Fleet Review (Aidan O’Brien) • Intelligence Cross (Aidan O’Brien) • Spirit of Valor (Aidan O’Brien) • Yucatan (Aidan O’Brien) Following is a list of the horses that are scheduled to enter quarantine in Japan on Friday: • Chestnut Coat (Yoshito Yahagi) • Sole Impact (Hirofuma Toda)
  10. Interesting. I have priced Londaro on top at $4.70 and South Fork at $10. And I have One Way Street equal top with Out Of The Park at $3.85.
  11. A couple of very rough options. R2 #11 Lord Valentine. R3 Quinella #13 Shahana from #4 Iskander
  12. I think the space on course is fine even on cup day these days. It copes easily with 100k. They have improved the facilities from both the times this century when 120K+ attended. Derby Day is definitely the best racing imo. The entire week is just a massive event. I've only done the 4 days twice - pretty full on, and the last day has become a quality day of racing. I think Flemington copes better then what MV does on Cox Plate day. Even Caulfield on a big Cup day has a bit of space problems. Although both are still fabulous events.
  13. Maybe you want to rethink that one Richie?
  14. Or if you like getting near the horses (and the weather is OK), the rail either near the clock tower or closer to finish line gives good viewing and closer proximity to the horses. (If doing that on Derby/Cup day, you need to go early - but shouldn't be so bad Turnbull day). MV on a less busy night is very good in one of the restaurants with brilliant view of the track. But viewing from the stands is very good there if restaurant not an option.
  15. Says the guy that posted selections for Woodville.
  16. I don't need more than that. And as an aside, your selections don't PROVE any of the theories you put up. Only a fraud would think they did.
  17. You might have done all you said. But that wasn't what you wrote. Maybe get back to that remedial English class. As for the 10+ scenario. if there are no $10+ tips, don't tip. Simple. Go and stick your $2 shots in the bets of the day thread. Or can't you read either?
  18. Except you didn't. You tipped 4 horses, 2 of them with savers. Which you are now wanting to multi up, because otherwise you're down the tubes.
  19. I knew I'd get a fairytale - and true to form you are. If someone took what you wrote, you would have lost. Simple. 16 units on multis for one return. Two races where the saver got your money back. One race with a $2 shot and a loser. But you have to go and make a lot of crap up about what someone might have dreamed up - none of which was in your post.
  20. Great selection FTF. Alas, no blinkers - not many do over there which is surprising given they are the best legal go fast.
  21. Thomass, now that the excitement of you putting up selections is over, can you come back and present how your options got on. What the costs were, and the returns. Thanks. The 2/3, the 3/4, the single options. I'm keen to see you write some more fairytales. Try and keep them to the detail in the post however. Thanks.
  22. I wrote a longish post on this when I first joined racechat. And have also done so since. This is how it should have happened. A tote only based business with licensed operators external to that for FOB, no tote derivatives. Allowing also the ability to have very few costs and also allowing for the take-out rate to be easily changed and competitive to entice punters.
  23. Wow Thomass. Legendary. You actually put up horses. I'm so disappointed I didn't back any. I don't bet to place and U don't take multistorey and I don't back horses paying $2.30 typically. Perhaps given this is the $10+ thread, you could just stick the one up that was over that. Thanks.
  24. May not be many assets left. The assets I'm referring to that became 100% government owned included any land, buildings, software, hardware, fixtures and fittings that was part of the infrastructure at the time. They own the lot - even though it's not worth a lot. I think the argument about how it all came about wouldn't be overly compelling. It was built up from proceeds of gambling to which the government was already gifting them certain rights. It didn't come at a cost to racing, it came as a benefit. Any tangible investment has been paid back many times over.
