  1. Steve Little-Horse trainer in the 80s, any idea what he is up to? Brent Smith- Owner/ Trainer of Armalight, he sort of fell off the radar once this top mate retired? Matt Heenan-Brother of Michael Heenen who trains. Matt was a punter who drunk at the Swamp, any idea where he is now?
  2. Yeah, as for turnovers. In the 80s, you never had overseas gambling sites, casinos or sports betting. So never gonna be like the golden years
  3. Just to add Unhinged, I like your interviews and I know your passionate about the harness game. But my views don’t change on that track yesterday. Let’s see what Geraldine offers Friday,
  4. Yeah ok, wet weather I understand. But that track not been cut for awhile, must know it grows pretty quick in winter. How did oncourse /Tab figures compare between Mot last Monday and yesterdays meeting? Just for the record, Methven was I big fav of mine early on. But trying to work out form will make you broke. I had 6 horses yesterday that I thought were good bets, none in the money, luckily I stopped betting. if they are out Friday I will post on here, then we will see if my form is right!!
  5. Luckily Unhinged was not in charge of lawn control at Qe11 back then, would still be out their now with a torch trying to search for pups trying to poke their heads above grass🤭
  6. Haha, I’m only a punter but somebody who has seen plenty of grass racing over the years. I was with a few other punters who also stopped or reduced their wagering during the day, I know you are part of the methven club gang, but would have thought you would want feedback. Take ya crocs off, try running on ya mowed front lawn, then try running on that jungle type track yesterday!!! Christ, if you couldn’t see the grass was to long yesterday, you need specsavers.
  7. That track today was a total joke. Only a handful made ground from the turn, main reason being the grass being about a foot high?? WTF is happening with the clowns at Methven, used to be a great track but now it is laughed at. Maybe talk to those that turn out the Motukarara track in tip top condition each meeting, track is mowed at a good level, not like todays shit. I stopped betting after race 3, luckily I did as the horses I liked struggled.
  8. The guy doing the yapping with the whale was a bit over the top for mine
  9. What do you expect from a Michael House runner
  10. Well, Here I am waiting between races, 41 minutes pretty poor but I assume it’s not the clubs fault but the fact we have 2 gallops meetings on.Anyway. I have heaps of time to post. 1, Is it time to put the guy singing to bed? Went to watch a race from grandstand but that guy was screaming, sounds the same every meeting, every song. Think he sings at rangiora too. Past the use by date for me. 2, Kids Kartz? Had first race and number 1 called BOOTS. Well it was hardly walking under hard driving, then it comes out again and does same. Not a good look,
  11. Talking about the Derby crash, looking back you would have thought race should be called off.
  12. Good one, he was a tough old bugger that loved the roomy Addington track. Then there was the terrible crash in the 1984 derby, the sound of the crowd gasping was very loud indeed.
  13. First started going to Addington in the early 80s, while I always looked forward to cup time, Easter Saturday was a close 2nd. Hands Down winning several cups, and who can forget Basil Dean vrs Sir Castleton battles, especially that record that Basil Dean set which was quicker than the Open Class pacers at the time, quite hard to believe. Nowadays, I hardly think of Addington on Easter Sat, I will probably be more interested in Motukarara monday. Who else has good memories of Easter harness?
  14. Very sad indeed. Was always a pleasant guy to talk with, shame his health deteriorated quickly. I remember his first harness race call many years ago, a good horse in Field Commander won his first race at Ashburton, in the first race on the 10th March 1989. I think Reon was in Australia for the Inter Doms. He sounded quite a bit like Reon at this time
  15. Ha Ha, bit unfair to compare with Freda. Not being rude to her, but Mark Purdon in a class of his own without even starting a runner.
  16. Ride poorly and you get suspended, I have no issue with it, as you know I have been stating the skill of riders especially in the Sth Island is getting worse. Maybe now that trainers are being affected with shortage of jockeys, they might band together and help improve the chimps out there riding, good idea?
  17. You are probably gearing up and washing ya nags..what about us punters listening to him? His calls are way out
  18. Who is calling at Riccarton today, he is terrible. Sounds like he has been cloned from Ian Chambers & Lauchie Marshall, wow
  19. Thanks Brodie, honest truth at last
  20. Not sure it’s a good training effort when the others go crazy out it front, the 2nd runner went huge. Good luck to them, yes they dominate in the weak classes up Nth, be good if he stays up there.
  21. Robin had the lovely mare Agrinion in the 80s, came across as a lovely guy.
  22. Everyone has their own opinion on drivers & trainers, but for mine I do not bet as much once certain trainers have runners in fields. Look at Warloch tonight, pays $44 yet couldn’t keep up recently. Yes, speed duel helped it winning, but I will keep away from House runners
  23. Yep, we are all waiting for an update. It’s crazy to see meetings cancelled after they have run a couple, trainers and owners must be at their wits end
  24. Mickey Mouse never been a fav of mine, but good on him for seeing an opportunity to race horses mainly at Manawatu. I find his horses hard to follow, those field up north are usually shit, then they come to Canterbury and either run well down the track, or somehow win. I thought he was getting out of harness, said he was losing money?? I suppose he will be remembered for getting youngsters up and running, people paying big bucks for them at an early stage with mixed results, oh and of course the early crow on Castletons Missions🤭
  25. Pretty average bringing this up when he has just died. Only one side of a story here
