I have got to a decision point regarding the future of BOAY.

My tolerance for managing the sniping and bickering has got to a very low point.

I consider it unsavoury that what I believe is a minority are seeking to enforce their rule of law on the site.

I am not voting CS but I sympathise with you if you do decide to shut it down.  You don't need the grief and the same people who complained about RC  and its contributors, barring contributors and censorship are now wanting you to censor or bar contributors here.

I think if the person who has got everyone's back up could just tone down the way he posts all would be well. I've got no problem with him having opinions and to me that is free speech.

Calling people silly names instead of addressing them in a polite manner is not free speech in my opinion. I find it slightly odd that Ross (if that's his name) can't just address someone in a civilized way. Calling mardigras McFly is just childish as an example

Free speech doesn't mean you don't have to show your fellow posters a modicum of respect.

I'm happy to stick around.

If your not keen on boay site anymore, maybe you need to look at other options. Boys get paid or whatever they are called might be keen, or someone else. Be a shame if it went

My take.

I didn't know this site existed but then I started getting a few hints.

The first was the complete personality change of the cartoon dog at the oxidation pond. He went from displaying utter contempt for his members to being reasonable and even thanking them for their support. He started referring to the sewer as the premium site. I knew something was rotten in Denmark and he was feeling threatened by a new kid on the block.

I could also see the contributors I enjoyed reading there had cashed in their tickets on the sinking ship and either been turned off online communication by the dictators or had gone elsewhere. I personally gave up on that site a year earlier.

The third big clue was the referrals to "the other channel".

The way I found this site was believe it or not was by searching for Brodie in Google.

I'm 100% in favour of the way this site is moderated. It encourages open communication and welcomes differing perspectives. There is no vested interest or protected species.

I believe most of the contributors here would never go back to the sewerage pond if this site closed down. The cartoon dog and the narcissist turn them cold. The fact those two are not here made this site considerably better than the sewer right from the get go.

I'm confident they hate the open communication here as it highlights what they destroyed. As a result, they have set about sabotaging this site with planted conflict. The cartoon dog will rubbing his little hands with glee to know he's getting to you. It will make his year reading this thread.

My advice is continue moderating this site exactly as you have but with one exception. Issue one warning for crossing the line into conflict. If the warning is not respected, ban them permanently. There's a strong possibility you will only be banning brown noses from the sewer doing the bidding for the cartoon dog.

The needs of the many should outweigh the needs of the one or two shitheels.

The pool for contributors in NZ for this type of site is small, hence the cartoon dog feeling so threatened by you. This site has a pulse and is vibrant. It's exactly what the sewerage pond could have been if it hadn't been taken over by self interested piss ants with serious cases of small man syndrome.

Its Doug's site , he owns it and he pays for it,  He stated from the start what the rules are so why should anything change.Hes right when he says about how those that left the other site are now asking him to do the same to some contributors- you cant have it both ways Joe Pete,Weasal IMHO.

Worst thing you can do is close BOAy down ...just plays into the hands of RC and its trolls who like stirring up trouble for the site....hence the need for judicious moderation of troublemakers!

Who exactly are you referring to here in respect of the troll comment. Are they those who have a different opinion to you and a few others who seem obsessed with RC. You really do need to get over it given this site has been in operation for over a year.

Not sure why you included me in that. I wasn't asking Doug to do anything. On the contrary I was being supportive I thought.

What a load of bollocks over a trouble maker and troll known to anyone who frequents racing chat sites, Thomass for the uninitiated, and I fully support free speech, but not for trolls, I thought that was common sense

Some of the comments about RC are absolutely spot on about the past, Joe Kidd you are right.

But suggest a few check it out now, a lot of that stuff has gone, and the site is being run well.

Anyway, I don't care whether the site continues or not, Thomas stays or goes  or whatever.

I have no enthusiasm left for the site, and an owner that tries to concoct that there was a complaint about me digging into a posters personal details, when he knows full well that I have never had access to personal details on BOAY.

Bit mischievous there Doug, I hope you don't include honesty as one of your principles.

And all this from someone who put 9 months into helping to build this site

Ditto. I have no angst or interest in RC simply want Chief to know that if his site is being compromised by planted content/trolling/idiots with foul language that at times verges on defamation, he need to take a strong hand (without compromising free speech principle). BOAY is a superior site in every respect..and I don't want to see it ruined by this nonsense. R E S P E C T is all that's required from all posters.

Honesty is right up there Hesi.  I informed the poster and subsequently the target of the "digging" that at no stage have you ever had access to the personal information on BOAY.  Also that the only personal information that was kept was the signup email address and the IP addresses from which the member accessed the site.

However the individual concerned did have legitimate concerns that there was some "burrowing" going on albeit in channels outside of BOAY.  Much the same as has happened to Thomaas.

BOAY stay or go?  Completely up to you CS.

I like it better than any other racing forum. And while there's a suggestion in this thread that the other channel has been cleansed now and once more become habitable by good and reasonable people - I would probably take a bit more persuading (and want to see a lotmore evidence) before I jumped back into those waters.

But you are the one doing the work CS - so as I see it - it's your call, not mine.

PS:  reading that you and Hesi have fallen out is disappointing and sadly, reminds me of some other place .... remember - life is short fellas - and you'd be amazed how much stuff can be sorted out by a private chat - in person - in private - over a cup of tea or a beer. Especially if you both take respect to the table and egos are left at the door.  All the best.  J.

" I received a complaint this morning that you have been digging into a BOAY members personal life.  If that is proven true by another source then you will be banned.  It is dead against the principles of BOAY."

Backtracking quite a bit aren't we

You might also like to explain how I could possibly 'burrow' into someone's private life when virtually everyone posts on here anonymously

Sounds like more bs

Incorrect about slagging off this site I have made a total of 15 RC posts since i joined it in November 18 2018. They are there for everyone to see under my banner

I did make  mention about Brodie after he had a meltdown about whip use but only to the extent that he did not seem to realise that RIU are there to enforce rules that HRNZ make so blaming RIU is hardly relevant

Other than that your comment is way off line. I find all this anti RC and BOAY stuff from both sides incredibly boring and have said so on both Sites, One could easily accuse you of constantly bagging RC on a regular basis, as such you might just be a hypocrite

Either way , ill keep posting on things i have something to say about and you and your followers can carry on attacking all and sundry on RC and trying to work out who is who when ever someone new arrives on BOAY

Your not really getting my point, you are trying to involve yourself in things you weren't around at the time for, the reason why 99% of people are here on boay, including the owner of the site was the unfairness and 'inner circle' or favourites that could do no wrong on r.c.  And by the way, I'm pretty sure I said welcome to Boay to you!
