TAB Letter to All Staff - Vax Consultation

Recommended Posts

To: All staff

Date: 24 November 2021

Subject: Consultation on proposed vaccination requirements

Good afternoon everyone,

As you will be aware the TAB, like many New Zealand employers, has been working through how we might best protect our people from the risk of Covid-19. Introducing a vaccine requirement is one such option we have been considering.

The assessment process we have undertaken

The TAB completed four Health and Safety Risk Assessments earlier this month, one for each TAB workplace type (studio, track, office and retail). These Risk Assessments followed the guidelines published by WorkSafe NZ and gauged whether each TAB workplace type had an inherent low, medium or high risk of Covid-19 transmission.

We then looked at all the mitigations/controls that could be put in place in order to reduce those risk levels.  These include: wearing of masks, physical distancing, additional cleaning protocols, sneeze screens, testing and the like. Even with these mitigations in place, all TAB workplace types were assessed as still having a high risk of Covid-19 transmission.

The TAB NZ Board considered these Risk Assessments in line with our obligations under the Health and Safety at Work Act, 2015. It was the Board’s decision in principle (and noting that any final decision is subject first to employee consultation), that mandatory vaccinations would be an appropriate mitigation to put in place at all TAB workplaces.

What we are proposing

For the reasons above we are proposing that all TAB employees (including casuals) and contractors working at TAB sites and workplaces (including retail branches, on-track, offices and in studios) must have had their first vaccination by 3 December 2021 and their second vaccination by 17 January 2022.
This timeline aligns with the ‘My Vaccine Pass’ mandate under the Government’s Covid-19 Protection Framework/ Traffic Light System).

If you have any feedback about this proposal which you would like us to consider, please email it to covid@tab.co.nz by 5pm this Sunday, 28 November. Once all feedback has been reviewed, we will be in a position to advise a final decision on Tuesday, 30 November.

What this might mean for you will depend on your vaccination status

  • If you are already fully vaccinated you will need to provide a copy of your Vaccine Pass via email to covid@tab.co.nz. This can be downloaded from mycovidrecord.health.nz. You can send through your Vaccine Pass at any time from today, but we may formally request that you provide it by 6pm, Thursday 2 December.

  • If you are already partially vaccinated (i.e. have had one vaccination) you will need to provide evidence of this via email to covid@tab.co.nz. This can be a photo of your vaccine card or screenshot from your My Covid Record. You can send through your evidence at any time from today, but we may formally request that you provide it by 6pm, Thursday 2 December.

  • If you are unable to be vaccinated for medical reasons and have an exemption from the Ministry of Health, we will work with you directly as to how we best support you.

  • If you are not partially or fully vaccinated by the assigned deadlines of 3 December 2021 and 17 January 2022  (or fail to provide suitable evidence of partial or full vaccination by the assigned deadlines) then we will meet with you one-on-one to discuss any alternative options (including redeployment options, if any are available).

Your vaccination information will be treated in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020, with a copy of any evidence you provide saved securely on your personnel file.

Support available

I appreciate this may be an unsettling time and you are welcome to seek independent advice or talk with your friends or whanau about this. If you have any questions, please review the attached FAQs, talk with your manager, the People Team or send questions through to covid@tab.co.nz.

Remember, the TAB also makes confidential, free counselling available through Benestar. TAB employees can contact Benestar directly at any time on 0800 360 364.

Regards,
Dean

NZTR update

NZTR Covid Update

NZTR
24 November 2021

As the government announced earlier this week, vaccine passes will become part of our lives from Friday, 3 December.

This is when the COVID Protection Framework, more commonly referred to as the Traffic Light System, will come into play.

Our first race meeting to be run under this System will be the Canterbury JC’s twilight meeting on Friday, 3 December.  Just how many people will be able to attend will not be clear until the government indicates which “colour” the Canterbury region will enter the system.

While 1.1 million of us obtained the My Covid Pass online in the first week of its availability, it is worth noting that the process can be different and take a little more time for foreign nationals.

As we are all aware the New Zealand racing industry is made up of a hugely diverse range of nationalities, and those without a NZ passport, birth certificate or driver’s licence, will need to call 0800 222 478 to request a pass.

It is recommended that employers with foreign-born staff who are expected to attend race meetings ensure they are aware of the steps they need to ensure they have their My Covid Pass and do not leave this until the last minute.

The law change required to introduce the Traffic Light System and the use of vaccination passes will be passed under urgency this week.

NZTR expects to issue a further update once the government releases more detail and once we have worked through this with our clubs.

I'm just thankful that I am no longer involved in the industry. Thankful that I have the luxury of telling the Nazis to shove their poison needles where the sun don't shine. If I was still involved I would place my health at the top of my priority's and refuse. But like sheep to the slaughter, they will line up like good little boys and girls letting dollars trump their health. Good luck to them, they will need it.

What a bunch of arseholes the TAB and the racing body's are. Gutless and gullible. Obviously they are afraid of the unvaxed which in reality they should be very afraid of the vaxed.

They aren't afraid of anything, its yet again just another copy paste exercise as I've said before they specialise in so it looks as though they are contributing something.

I do think both organisations have underestimated their customer base on this issue and there could be a bumpy road ahead, fascinating to sit back and observe.

That video on another thread of some eminent Kiwi's espousing their very educated views is enthralling viewing Aqua.

If Ardern and the stormtroopers watched it with an open mind, gee it might be enlightening for them.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, at least Covid flushed out the fuckwits, and sadly it appears there are millions of them........in defence of many though, fear and coercion was a driving force behind their decisions.....and the human need to eat to survive and for that you need a job......FFS.

Rally Cramner Square thread under Covid section. Then go to NZDSOS. That stands for NZ Doctors speaking out with Science. I shall put up an interview with a sacked nurse from CH CH hospital. The interview was done in Cramner Square from a rally held 3 weeks ago.

You've got to wonder at the arrogance of these people, be very interesting to see if this backfires on them.

My Vaccine Pass required for visiting TAB

From Monday, 13 December, if you are visiting TAB board venues (i.e. standalone TABs), you must be fully vaccinated to enter these premises, and will need to produce your My Vaccine Pass on arrival.

Pubs and clubs with TAB services can open under the Red and Orange levels of the Traffic Light System, but only if they enforce the My Vaccine Pass requirements.

While the use of My Vaccine Passes is not a requirement of the general retail settings of the System, TAB NZ has decided to mandate their use in TAB outlets, to align with pubs, clubs and racecourses.

If you are coming into a TAB retail outlet to complete your identification verification, you must be fully vaccinated and have My Vaccine Pass. If not, you will need to complete the process online or call our Contact Centre to be taken through an exception process.

The My Vaccine Pass is an official record of your Covid-19 vaccination status for use within Aotearoa New Zealand. For more information on My Vaccine Pass, visit the Unite Against Covid-19 page

Thanks,
The TAB Team
