http://www.jca.org.nz/non-race-day-hearings/non-racedy-inquiry-riu-v-j-mcinerney-and-r-armstrong-written-decision-dated-31-august-2018 The trainer is fined $5000. The trainer is to pay $5000 towards the RIU's costs. The ongoing cost to the RIU" was at least $15,000" to investigate the death of the five dogs. So the code collects $5000 (fine) plus $5000 costs = $10000. The code spent $15000. In the end, the death of the five dogs cost the code $5K. They consider that a deterrent..... Farce is the word that comes to my mind..... The F'wits in power will never learn.... Maybe it's time for another lengthy wait from the SPCA... Hopefully they are now investigating.... Surely Newshub will have something to say about it.

http://www.k9magazine.com/what-is-a-puppy-farmer/ "For some, the definition of a puppy farmer is not based on scale as much as what the motivation for breeding is; if a breeder’s main intent is profit, arguably they’re a puppy farmer." "The poor dogs count for nothing, except money"
  3. Here's just how good the TAB are at looking after their customers, in a nut shell. The TAB lost me as a customer over a stinking $2 coin (fee). That's how narrowminded they are. Why didn't Nathan say something back to me like, We do have to charge you the $2 fee, but in return we'll give you a $2 bonus bet? They were already well aware I liked to have a punt & would have felt looked after if I had a chance to win the $2 fee back. "To bad Charles" When I read that reply email from Nathan, as still their customer, in a 12 month period less than two years prior I had an FOB turnover of more than a quarter of a million dollars (yes I still have the spreadsheets which were broken down by daily spend & daily return). Good on you TAB. May your business continue to thrive just like it currently is & best of luck drawing new blood into your den. I hope my feedback aids in your crusade & I'll keep checking the NZRB website for it.
  4. Yes new punting blood is desperately needed within NZ, to continue under the current model. Even more importantly, in my opinion, is keeping the ones now they now have. That said, they lost me quite some time ago. The NZ TAB did just about anything they could to cut me from their ranks. With me they had an increasing spend. They welcomed me to Elite status. While in their elite status, they gave out fliers of the benefits you receive once included. One of which was getting shouted by them to a sporting event. During the three years I retained elite status I was never even offered to be taken to a sporting event. When I questioned my Rep about this, he asked me what I'd like to go to see. I told him I'd love to see a Breakers game. He thought it was an excellent idea, although the thought seemed to die & an offer never came. Also during my time amongst the big guns the TAB, in their better wisdom, they took Trackside off of Freeview. I adapted by changing to viewing the races online. While that was adequate, I lost the ability to set up my Freeview recorder to catch the full action while I was away at the races to watch one/more of the charges I owned & then view the race when I returned home. Yes, usually within a week I could view the 1 minute replay available on the GRNZ website, yet sometimes that didn't even materialize. As I became more disgruntled with the level of service I felt the TAB was providing me with, my turnover with them continued to drop. Eventually it dropped to the point where I didn't qualify for elite status any longer & was removed. That in itself didn't bother me, but the fact that now I had to pay them $2 to make an online deposit to my account sent me over the top. I went directly to Nathan (Elite services boss) & queried him about this, his reply was basically "to bad". I then told him to cancel my account with the NZ TAB & to this day it remains "suspended". I did have a bit of a go at becoming leakage & punting with an overseas vendor, but that too had it's issues as the buzz was not in it any longer when I didn't have the ability to watch the races live. So to this day, racing for me as an owner & punter are well behind me & I'm not looking back. Did I enjoy it, YES! I enjoyed it so much that I put up with the poor service the TAB was giving me far longer than I would have any other vendor of any other product, punting or otherwise.
  5. I think the of point the report & Winston are trying to make is without drastic change (track closures) the entire industry will be gone. Is it worth fighting to keep the smallest/least used venues open for the next few years until there is no racing whatsoever within NZ? Or do they close/discontinue those tracks before that doomsday arrives & focus on fewer tracks & an industry that can remain intact? I'm a Rotorua resident who seems to have a track on the list. In my 14 years in Rotorua there have been many race meets held at the venue, mostly gallops & a few harness. In those 14 years I personally have been to two of the gallop meets & one harness. Yes I was a rather serious punter (99.9% greyhound as dogs can't read the odds board) & the Rotorua track is a 5 minute drive from my home. The point for me was, why bother going to the track to watch them in person, when I could even more easily watch them on the tube (before it left freeview) or stream the races on my computer. I could have my punt, watch the race, then tend to the mowing/laundry/dishes for the next 45 minutes in the lead up to the next race. If I decided to have a few cold ones during the coarse of the day, I needn't worry about how to get back home if I had one to many under my belt.
  6. As far as I'm aware, greyhound racing has only two sole venues now, Wanganui & Manukau. Every other tack is part of a multi venue. It would make no sense at all to close say Cambridge, if it continues to be a harness venue. The same could be said for Palmerston North, Addington, Forbury & the three tracks at Invercargill, if it's persevered with.

TWO dogs from the very same trainer received a $2500 fine for being produced to race with Ketoprofen in their systems & they were alive the next day to race again. The JCA finding claims the incident was accidental. http://www.jca.org.nz/non-race-day-hearings/non-raceday-inquiry-riu-v-j-t-mcinerney-reserved-decision-on-penalty-dated-13-july-2017-chair-mr-r-g-mckenzie?searchterm=Wheelchair+Norm So if FIVE dogs died horribly but accidentally, never to be raced again, a $5K fine handed down is an absolute farce.
  8. Number 6 long overdue as well. The "Racing Inadequacy Unit" needs to go.

Let's put a $5K fine into context as a deterrent. If a $5K fine was handed down to a trainer that generated $1,257,868 in stakes earning last season, the fine for the death of 5 dogs equates to the total of .4% of those stakes earned... Completely hypothetically (absolutely no offence to the trainers used as examples that I have chosen for comparison), that would mean if the same thing had happened to ~ D Schofield ($301,991 earned) the "deterrent" would equate to $1207.00 C J Weir ($146,922 earned) the "deterrent" would equate to $588.00 Lana Pearce ($47,883 earned) the "deterrent" would equate to $192.00 $5K to a millionaire is pocket change & nearly meaningless.

A $5K fine to a million dollar a year stakes winner means he will not be able to upsize his fast food meal next time he travels. I believe the entire fine scheme should be looked at, with the dollar amount of a fine handed down calculated as a percentage of the previous 12 month stakes earnings. That way a fine could be handed down that was actually a deterrent, not a token fine. [Let's see how many "likes" this new thinking post receives]
  11. One half of before. Equation: (Two plus two before) divided by two.
  12. Looking towards the future, I've heard the king might be expanding his operations & purchasing a video rental store....
  13. Has the time come where BOAY members, moderators & owners have opened up their mind enough, to offer the king of NZ's #1 dying forum a chance to advertise on our forum for a fee? From the kings point of view, what form of better advertising would there be? A busy, captive audience with the exact same interest.
  14. Good luck gathering questions CS. Most in the Greyhound code tend to remain ultra quiet while their future is being decided for them. Expect all the noise to start after any decisions have been made....

    COME ON IN

It'd be a good day for all the BOAY members to pop over to have a look at the RC greyhound forum. They can then catch up on all the happenings of the last week in the NZ greyhound code. But since the last post to the forum, by a member, was last Tuesday & that was about Australian greyhounds, they'd have to go to the previous post from Last Sunday. That's 6 days worth of info/gossip that must have fallen by the wayside, on NZ's #1 dying forum. http://www.companyliquidation.nz/

    COME ON IN

You seem to have misplaced your photo, but I have located it here. By the way, are you on the left or right of the image?
  17. But I don't pick holes in people, I pick holes in the RIU & GRNZ. Participants & dogs do what they do. I tend to point out what they have done & why I believe the action was in breach of the rules. Then question why the powers "let it slide" or "sweep it under the carpet". Peter Earley seems to question Mike Godber every Wednesday on Radio Trackside about the Coles saga. Is he picking holes in the Coles? Most if not everyone believes that something very dodgy is happening in those photos, myself included. Is it wrong to question why the RIU & GRNZ have done nothing about it, yet the GRNZ board has the power to take remedial action even if they only "believe" live/dead baiting was occurring? Is it wrong to question why some dogs at Addington that turn their heads straight out of the boxes are charged with FTP yet when it happens at Wanganui, those types of dogs are not charged? I'm not picking on the dog, owner or trainer when I put the photo's up, I'm showing the powers that they are not doing the job they are tasked with. As for your final question, Greyhound racing as a whole treated me fairly during my time as an LP. Luck with ownership went against me & I knew full well before getting in that, it is one of the risks you take. Most of trainers I became acquainted were really wonderful people. I did meet a few rat bags along the way too & for some strange reason they are the ones that are still around, while the genuine people of the sport are dwindling in numbers.
  18. Jason, you hurt my feelings... I feel really sad now... Should I complain to BOAY admin & change my name?
  19. You are probably right Tonkatime. Since that time I have taken over running of the forum. Things were not going the way they were meant to be with more than one Admin. Were the abusive emails you received from me? Enough said I believe.
  20. Most are very thankful that I'm fighting for the good of the industry. Obviously you see things a different way. Have taken GRNZ or the RIU to task & openly challenged to do things the way industry participants see things as right? Look up "Yankiwi" over on RC and maybe you'll find out a bit more of what I am really about, a bit more than your current short sightedness.
  21. The laugh is mutual Jason. Where did I say I would turn my dog on anyone? I merely said I could let unwanted guests find out how friendly my dog was.
  22. I'm not saying that at all. What I did say is that forum members do not have access to post on the guest board while they are logged into their forum account. They can read it while they are logged in. If GRNZ or the RIU can identify who you are, then they could charge you. If GRNZ or the RIU can not identify who you are, who are they going to charge? I am not an LP & haven't been one for over 2 1/2 years now. I'm in no way bound to share any information with them unless a Crown court order is obtained. The only information the forum gathers from someone who posts on the guest board is their IP address, which is only available to me as the sole Admin. If the RIU or GRNZ did turn up at my doorstep, they will be instructed to remove themselves from my property at once. If they didn't leave straight away, then I'll have the choice to either ring the police to move them along, or introduce them to my family dog (non-greyhound) & they can find out how friendly it is with strangers who are trying to stress me.
  23. Spot on BOAL. Every name that you see is a "Guest Name", other than mine, which is Charles. Forum members are unable to post to the guest board while logged in to their forum account, which offers them protection from GRNZ's social media policy.
  24. I'm the one that is now running Grassroots. The forum is not currently accepting any new membership application. However, everyone is able to view and/or post on the guest board there.
  25. From a post today, I thought this was a classic. The king of the dying forum liking a direct personal insult from one member to another, on the greyhound board.
