It's not going to matter, cause all of a sudden it doesn't matter if youre not at the actual race track to watch the races. So they can all shift to Aus to train and we'll sit on the lawn at an NZTR approved track and watch them race. The hypocrisy of this sport is astounding! https://www.nzherald.co.nz/sport/punters-up-for-horseless-race-day/USDYIFAMIREIFMWWP7PJQSCIFI/
-
Pretty common occurence now, they appear to just take the top weight if there is no genuine Open Handcpers in the race and convert the race into a ratings race, probably makes it easier for them to handicap and gives them a weight spread.
-
ok, good to hear , looked poor numbers on the lawn. But obviously tuned in at wrong time. Don't feel bad, no one knows what The Grand Tour is!
-
Looking at the Draft Funding policy , it appears they are not, this obviously may have changed particularly with the Distribution being reduced. https://loveracing.nz/OnHorseFiles/Draft Funding Policy for NZ Thoroughbred clubs 2022 2023 Season 28 June 2022 v1.0.pdf

They won't be doing that, nothing beats a good Grand Tour!

If I had a $ for everytime I've heard how approachable these leaders are I'd be very rich indeed! However where we continue to lack is with their(leaders) inability to make the decisions that need to be made, their inability to rock the boat, their inability to say what we are doing isn't working and not with some political double speak that really means we need to follow the agenda so get on board while we really give it to the small guy , but most of all its their inability to build significant relations across the industry to improve outcomes for the majority and not just a select few.
-
Have to agree & its gone way too far to return to anywhere near where it needs to to prosper. Most trainers just follow the senior or succesful trainers of their district like sheep for opinions , most have been wrong for years and their self interest will not see any much needed change... how does that song go "we are on the road to nowhere!"

Crowd numbers for the Grand Tour at Te Rapa looked pitiful on TS, anyone attend and can confirm my assesement is well off the mark?

He is listened to and given a voice like a few in this industry because of his wealth ... its great the initiative he is doing with Mansour, but in reality its happened because its started to impact even those at the top so they've had to do something about it. As for George and Sharrock I'm sure he is only paying lip service , after all they all said Bernard was doing a good job while he was in charge as well.
-
Worse still they are a type of agenda based incompetent.
-
Agree wholeheartedly , I've attended a number of race meetings over the summer and something is missing, the atmosphere is dry at best dead at worse. People on course just don't seem interested or seem to care, alot of that is down to the fact that these meetings are just another race day at an NZTR approved club and thus there is no atmosphere and nothing special about them the entir character and charm of the holiday spots or country clubs has gone.
-
I suspect youv'e had little to do with them SA if you think that will work, they will not listen and worst of all will not act on anything unless it suits the agenda. The first couple of years you sit back and watch in astonishment as everything you and others suggest comes to fruition, after that you just become numb and blaze to it all and after that you kind of just pull up a deck chair and watch it all fall apart (which is happening at an accelrating rate now). There is no initiative, no innovation and no active listening to the majority of the industry. I find it humorous how so many in the industry are blaming the TAB for the state its in, yes they are a huge part of it, but our leadership in particular NZTR have had us on the road to destruction for years now. The last two leaders were at best incompetent , the current leader is out of his depth and probably taking poor advice. The industry just refuses to make the correct changes that would enable it to have a future and just continues doing the same thing over and over again, despite the fact its proving to not work... but hey so long as they get their Karaka Millions Night everything in the industry is just wonderful ...right?
-
Another know nothing at the helm of the TAB, what did the industry expect?
-
Rest assured they wouldn't know what one was or what they do, can't expect them to spell it.
-
So with this being the case, why not just race at the decent tracks , sell off the crap ones and have them run their own phantom race meetings at their club rooms. Absolutely farcical the entire sham of an industry!
-
Got to have it over and done with quickly, wouldn't want one of those meetings over shadowing one of the bigger events from a wagering perspective.
-
Only in name, the calendar and decisions around who gets racedays is largely influenced by NZTR. The venue plan a great example of this, they sat around and pin pointed the venues they wanted to sell off and to do so had to remove licences from them, isn't there something in the act that says if a club doesn't hold a race day for 2 years they can instigate a process with the club, check out their(NZTR) strategy plans where they have stipulated clubs will only get licences up to a certain season.
-
That may well be the case but it is definitely NZTR who control the process around rubber stamping race days.
-
But raceday licences are issued by NZTR, no betting if no race day.
-
Bernie the good bloke... gone , whilst all his stupid iniatives take effect in nzracing!
-
Chief is it possible to add an abandonments odometer to the site , to keep track of them all. I'd say it will need to be 4 or 5 digits.
-
Not with this lot running the sport, they'll keep banging their heads on the wall till there is no one left racing!
-
So now Awapuni is coming into question again. Can these absolute incompetents at NZTR not see that every track in the country that can be raced on is needed to be put into action and made available, forget ya Grand Tours and junkets on the p@@s the industry needs to get through race days or its gone -so get off ya butts and start talking to the clubs before we have another utter farce happening again. While youre at it time to bin silly BS "Venue Plan" report and reinvigorate the industry, how much carnage needs to take place before they will change course? cause what youre currently doing isn't working!
-
Where is the elusive "Fairy Flash?" He will know.

Yes I saw that, the same breeder who is quick to send his horses across to Australia for better stakes.
