Have to agree scalp wise she has knocked off Giga Kick which is massive, but the rest are probably the 2nd rate types who are running in G1s because the Everest horses are keeping their powder dry. That's taking nothing away from her , her performances & times have been seriously impressive, but the Everest is dictating the quality of those G1 races now.

Yes set up like that , but give them a couple of race days to keep them seriously interested. Unlikely Jumpouts & trials will achieve the prolonged enthusiasm required to keep a volunteer base going. Racing in NZ continues to cut its nose off to spite their face , the best way forward for this industry is to utilise what it already has available & stop all the "In Club" fiasco that's gone on for a number of years. I've said it for years the powers that be in this country are blind to the fact that the industry needs a grassroots for it prosper neigh on survive into the future.

Yep the issue was never too many tracks, it was always and still is the criminal under utilisation of these assets. The more it goes on , the more it looks like the AWT tracks were bought in merely to convince everyone that the sale of assets was never going to be an issue.

The problem being the buck E/W crowd are usually the heart & soul of the sport , they consistently follow it give it a bit of character etc. Imho ignore them at the peril of the sport, we've seen many sports suffer through their lack of empathy/attention to the base of their sport. This can be seen by the lack of media attention racing gets outside of its own propaganda, interest in the sport has to be at an all time low amongst sports fans & sinking faster than the Titanic in that area. Having said that racing has kicked that lot when they were down for the last decade or more & they are probably not returning free to air or not.

She'd make more at the Everest than she would put of all her progeny you'd have to think, still think they are just placing her right, agree a good move to avoid it. Not sure a mare has ever won the Everest has it?

I'm guessing it has a lot to do with their KPIs which might include meeting abandonments?

How does the Taranaki 2yo race retain its status, same goes for the Wanganui Guineas & Wairarapa Breeders?

Having seen how some of the younger crowd behave at race days I'm not sure why we fall over ourselves to get them to the races , apart from the obvious & that's getting boozed up and I've always thought that's a dead end street. How outside of bar sales does it really contribute to the industry, any thoughts?
