Snap:Hutt Park, late 80's/early 90's. Oncourse Jackpot, expected to reach $250,000 plus,& had to terminate. A couple of Other Syndicate Members & Myself flew down from Auckland. We had $8,000 to spend,& about 90 minutes before 1st Leg,I joined queue 2nd from window. After a few minutes,(and not moving)I asked the guy ahead of me,how much was he spending!Answer was $9,000 plus,so I instantly jumped queques, In those days, tickets were sold in $1 units,Think you took first 2 Legs same as a double, then if live returned to exchange live tickets race by race. I only got all our tickets on with a few minutes to spare,(though I think race start was delayed few minutes to assist the still long queues)& the other guy was still getting tickets punched out. Turns out that His Syndicate was organised by Ken Wikeley,a keen racegoer who I had often seen around Northern Tracks,& was in The News as Co-Founder of Rainbow's End. For the record,we were knocked out after 2nd Leg.

Gamms, Lee Nandina sparks memories from my early nights at The Park. Did he race out of Jim Smith's Takanini Barn!

A shocking read indeed. Anything less than a Lifetime Ban would have been a travesty of justice.

Karrots,my turn to 'snooze and lose'. Sleep deprived due to watching every second of NRLGames (and associated previews/reviews),plus every ball of new IPL Cricket Comp. Also,I do fare better with Sudoku, rather than Cryptic Puzzles.🤭 Congrats to Gamms for scooping the first bonus point.☝️

Brainteaser Challenge for Karrots (or anyone)
Taupiri Wonder replied to Taupiri Wonder's topic in Trotting Chat
Karrots, thanks for those interesting stats. Not sure if you need worry about Mr Vince outbidding you on any Sweet Lou's at The Weanling Sale. He may have filled his quota at Yearling Sales Karaka/Addington last month. Let us know if you successfully catch The Auctioneers Eye.😉 -

One would hope that The Telfer Venture into opening Twin Island Stables is more successful than "Micky Mouse" & his Northern Venture!

Gammalite, are you tempted to get a Syndicate of Mates together to buy The Spitfire, and get him trained in South Australia, where he could campaign around Globe Derby for several more seasons before retirement!😜

I've said it before, and i'll say it again.O M G SPITFIRE. Showed keenness to take a foward position from the mobile second row, ending up 4 back the outer. Midrace lead changes promoted Spitfire to a rare one/one position. Set alight near turn to come three wide into straight, was soon within a length of leader, then kept narrowing the gap, surging to the lead in shadows of the post. Showed his maiden win to be no fluke, and again, full credit to Amber Hoffman.

Karrots,Tim has been a regular at Alex Park since The Early 70's,originally keeping The Tote Ladies busy. Then from 90's,added Ownership Interests. Then New Millenium Era,became heavily involved in Amateur Drivers Movement, twice travelling to USA to compete. Then last decade turned his hand to training a couple of his own,and suddenly his Team Numbers Swelled to 20 horses or more. Last Year passed Milestone of 100 Training Wins. Tim has been an avid supporter of both Junior Drivers & Amateur Races, plus been generous with his Sponsorship Dollars. Within recent years,The ATC has projected Stakes Increases to $30k Minimum,so Tim became more active at Yearling Sales. However, the ill fated Apartment Developments have torpedoed the projected stake increases. Battling Officialdom regarding Handicapping, has been a big factor in Tim scaling back numbers in recent months, and now handing over his team to Sheryl Wigg,a very capable horsewoman. A recent 'stab in the back' by a jealous Waikato Trainer may have been the final straw for Tim.
