  1. Brodie/on the money again. Totally nonsensical rule. The Penalty for the administering of a non performance enhancing treatment seems unduly harsh to me. I wouldn't be surprised if an appeal against severity of penalty is forthcoming!
  2. Gonsta..I was shocked to see such a successful owner/trainer team suddenly breakup. Made a call tonight, and told that he had recently totally disrespected The Legend, who has just passed,Ray Adcock. Other Issues also that I won't repeat here. It would be my prediction that Daniel Lane won't train another winner this season!
  3. Announced this morning that Greyhound Racing at Hatrick Raceway,Wanganui IS SUSPENDED IMMEDIATELY. GRNZ has made this decision in consultation with The Racing Integrity Board, amid ongoing safety concerns around the Wanganui Track.
  4. Well Gamms,it's been 12 weeks since you floated the idea of claiming Sabrage @A$9000 Have done a review to see how he has performed since! Has raced 7 times:2wins/3seconds/1third.Prizemoney A$13,852 Racing again tomorrow, shooting for a hattrick. Ironically his regular driver in all these races has been Brendon Barnes, whose skills in the sulky have been questioned on here recently.
  5. We shall get to see what difference a week makes! Next Thursday Night Meeting Sept 16-Originally Scheduled Auckland Trotting Club at Alex Park. Now Transferred to Cambridge Raceway-Meeting still run by ATC,with their usual Stakes.
  6. Pretty good damn memory you have Gamms. Racebook Form from down south was 00060. Maybe Brodie got wind of this and $unloaded$. Silky Sue only had one more career win 10 months later at Masterton,so Jim Smith's plunge was certainly well placed.lol
  7. Cheers Gamms. The GN Derby $150k following week was WON by INKY LORD/2nd Captain Lee/3rd Happy Hazel/4th Redcliffe Pass/5th Little Buckeroo I have dozens of cartons of all my oncourse racecards/best bets/friday flash etc,but kept in storage. If NZ Lockdown continues much longer, may have to seek them out,and have some trips down memory lane.
  8. Whereas many attend Racetracks solely for love of The Horse,my mates and I went for love of The Punt. Alex Park during 1980's,The Voice Of The North Reg Clapp and No Trackside. You could count the meetings we missed on one hand. ATC operated Oncourse Only Jackpots, last six races. This usually only attracted smallish pools, and thus was frequently not struck. When it reached around $15k,3 mates had a syndicate and I went solo.We both had different combos with 5 winners, but still wasn't struck. Opening Pool was now $30k & I suggested we should combine. Well,New Pool reached over $60k,and Reg Clapp announced there was only 1 Live Ticket as horses did their preliminaries before R10.It was Our Ticket on Tony Herlihy Drive Little Buckeroo. Field was tightly bunched going into final 400metres,and we were stuck 3back the fence and no way out (no passing lane those days). Then Gary Hillier impatiently takes off from the 1-1,giving Tony Herlihy chance to get off fence. As the field came around The Showground Bend.Little Buckeroo was flying and about to hit the lead. Our shouts of encouragement were not needed,as he increased his lead and the judge was spared a close finish. We gave Mike Stormont $15k for the upcoming 1989 Yearling Sales, and cashed up the balance. He purchased us two yearling, and had enough left over for 6 months training fees. One horse was of limited ability, but qualified and sold to Australia. The Sicilian was our other, and ran second on debut in $50k Sales Series Consolation Race/beaten a nostril by Stabilizer(perhaps Ron Frazer's best performer). The Sicilian gave us many thrills winning 4 prior to sale to Queensland.(perhaps Gammalite came across him at Albion Park)
  9. Karrots,Not Quite. Cambridge Minimum Stake Last Season was $8k for a full 12 horse field. But this reduced by $160 per each non starter!
  10. Karrots,Sheryl incurred the wrath of Stewards at Addington on 20 June ,using whip with more than a wrist flicking motion, suspended 2 months 21/6/21 to 20/8/21 inclusive. As fate would have it,her horse here Franco Hoffman ran 2nd,the winning driver being her Twin Sister Cheree. At his following start,Franco Hoffman went on to win, this time also driven by Cheree Wigg.Sibling Rivalry is alive and well.😄
  11. YES Chaser,I remember a meeting last season at Hattrick,(Friday Night!)when the Cole Kennel won all races on a TWELVE RACE CARD.
  12. Hi Gamms, ironic you have made this observation. Have you also noticed that Danielle Hill has driven winners for Tim Vince/Sheryl Wigg during 2020/21. They sent across their R59 5yo Pacer SIMON (4 NZ Wins) to South Australia. Racing from stable of Jake Webster,Simon ,racing mostly around Globe Derby, recorded 10 wins in 12 months, doubling his career earnings. Danielle Hill was in the sulky for 4 of these wins. Simon has since transferred to your 'neck of the woods' this year, racing from the Ron Sallis barn. After setbacks, has yet to succeed after 3 Albion Park runs, but had a pair of 'soft kill' wins at Redcliffe last month.🤑 With NZ's inferior handicapping system,Simon may have had 1 more Alex Park win/or 2 at Cambridge, and failed to 'pay his way' bigtime!
  13. Hi Karrots, welcome back.🤩 I have been enjoying Combo of Olympics & Queensland Winter Carnival at Albion Park.(including following Gammalites Musings) Yes,after The Wigg Team was late scratched by Order Of Stewards a couple of weeks back,She was told Her Trainers License would be suspended pending an Inquiry. Therefore her Racing Team were transferred elsewhere immediately. However, with initial test results not showing any irregularities,Her Trainers License is still valid. Steven Reid/Simon McMullen look like they have kept the promising maiden.
  14. Yes Enteebee.I wouldn't go spending tonight's Prize Money from Gettn Wiggy Withit just yet!
  15. I have been told,NOT RUMOUR,that the tests have revealed only negative results. What did they expect to find in a tumeric based health boost mixture! What IS RUMOUR,the samples taken may be sent further afield,to Hong Kong Lab,in an attempt to reveal anything that Local Lab did not find! I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for a Stuff Harness Retraction!
  16. Yes Gamms,as you can deduce,I was there each night in 1975 yelling myself hoarse for Young Quinn.(and still have the oncourse Racebooks in storage) There was a Tour Group from Aussies standing by my regular spot,so it was a matter of who could yell support the loudest! Ironic you mention the Messenger Winner of 1978 Locarno,as the runnerup was GERRY JUNIOR,trained & driven by CHARLIE HUNTER.🤩
  17. Wow,certainly a Great Read. As a young teenager becoming hooked on the trots at Alex Park early 1970's,my first horse idol was Young Quinn, and Charlie Hunter/John Langdon my favourite Trainer/Driver. (I probably passed Gammalite many times amongst the patrons and never realised)😄 I was emotional when Young Quinn was paraded to the crowd on the eve of his departure to America, with the Manfred Mann Classic "Mighty Quinn" blaring through the course speakers. Charlie Hunter has certainly had a proud, rarely matched involvement in This Sport.
  18. Never saw the race myself. See from Stipes Report that an Enquiry has been opened & adjourned into the actions of handler after dogs were caught. Was Handler the trainer Raewyn McPhee!!
  19. Taken from Stipes Report. Pre-Race Trials: A dog (L.Cole) faltered free of interference & fractured a hock. Stewards/Board Member Gary Fredrickson/GRNZ Track Curator Nigel Rugg inspected the area of concern, which was shifty & inconsistent. Remedial action unable to be carried out in timely fashion,so meeting abandoned.
  20. Gamms, following your posts here,I looked at Menangle Fields on Tues. Jack Trainor had x2 Runners & Jason Grimson x1. Trainor set the ball rolling with Rocket Boy,fresh off the plane from Auckland 11 days earlier. NZ Record was 11 starts/1 win for Mark Jones,& 1 start 9th for Jeremy Young earlier in June. At Menangle, started $1.22 Fav &** WON by 11.3m,mile rate 1.53.3 Next Race for Jason Grimson was I Am Serengeti (ex Purdon/Rasmussen) started $2 Fav & **WON by 12.2m,mile rate 1.51.6 The only loser on the float home was Trainor's Our Madiba/ $9.50 longshot that ran 4th. Looks like only two doses of "The Tonic " was used this day!
  21. Being a rising 4yo Bitch,I would not be surprised that she has been retired!
  22. I have recently enquired of a favourite poster Karrots/Jones about her concerns of posting here after July 1,following new proposed HRNZ Social Media Policy. With upwards of 1100 posts since joining BOAY,I have yet to read anything that HRNZ Police could find even remotely offensive,or in contradiction of Their Rules. And even if any future post finds offense with them, how does your identity get revealed (unless they have connections with CCP)! Sorry Karrots/Jones,my attempt at sending you one more smile/fun laugh.☺️
  23. Yes,remember Frederick being in quality company during my days at The Park 1980's. See his last win in NZ,he actually beat the mighty Luxury Liner with Tommy Knowles driving, An astute purchase, especially as cheap.🤑
  24. Gamms,so now The Formidable Grimson Team only faces 2 rivals tonight!!! Best wishes to Unhinged/Spellbound.They will certainly need a top drive to triumph. I was unaware until reading here about Grimson/Trainor Team @ Retention Centre. Earlier this year I found daily items in my news feed from www.peterprofit.com.(these have since stopped, only available by subscription) He was totally on to the remarkable results/improvements in horses being transferred into this stable. Often aged horses with hitherto ordinary career records, suddenly running personal best mile rates by several seconds. Like you mention,Extraordinary!!!
