  1. Yeah well it's like tomorrow's trials , how many are forced into running there because Avondale was canned . I've got a share in one trialing there next week and i'm shitting myself , i would rather wait but not my decision , hoping they just let him jump and go around under a hold , we already know he can gallop .
  2. That's what i said above , it assumes that they treat the horses they do run on it as dispensable .
  3. No , just what i wrote , if trainers are of that mind it would suggest that they think that the horses are more susceptible to picking up injuries on this surface . The test would be to run a G1 on the A/W and see who would be prepared to run .
  4. Interesting listening to Greame Rogerson being interviewed prior to the first at Cambridge , when asked what his thoughts were on the Synthetic track he stated that they had their place but that he wouldn't run a good horse on it or trial a good horse on it , i wonder if this is a wide spread attitude within the training ranks . The worrying aspect for me is if he and maybe others think like this , then does this suggests that the horses that they do run on it are dispensable ? He / they obviously think there risks associated with running on this surface .
  5. Fantastic , if the dogs are up for it and no one has jumped in yet i would like first dibs at the couch , me and the dog , sweet , my wife will be fine on the floor .
  6. That shows you how dim they are , wasn't even going to solve the track conditions issue .
  7. I like it , at least it's a plan , only one stumbling block , someone's not going to happy with you opening her place up as a backpackers , good luck with that bit . Perhaps we can all take our horses to the Gold Coast for next years carnival and we can all crash at your place , Mrs Bloggs might not be to happy , but who cares , that's your problem .
  8. They haven't got any plan , it's a bit rough expecting them to have a back up plan . Whilst that comment is a bit tongue in cheek , I honestly believe they simply have know idea how to sort this situation out , they don't know where to start or what the end game should be . If they think that the A/W's and the new consortium and some slight improvement in low end stakes are going to fix anything they are deluded . The current track situation isn't new , they have had years to sort this out , even prior to the advent of A/W's , but they have declining owner numbers , staffing issues thru out racing , a broken ratings system , a major issue with the standard of race day riding , a huge degrading of our black type racing , and the one i have been banging on about for the last 18 months , the loss of horses from our shore , both unraced and raced . This one along with the loss of owners could well be the final twist that strangles the industry . Yet i have not seen any real understanding or initiatives from the powers to try and stem and then reverse these losses . A clown show , i think not , clowns are supposed to make you smile , this lot are just bringing misery .
  9. Bugger , if only the A/W at Awapuni was operational they could have xfered , bugger bugger bugger .
  10. I wouldn't take it for granted that they will continually fill the card , in fact i would go so far as to say that of the 3 A/W's the CD one will be the one to struggle the most , Cambridge has a huge net of horses and they still struggle most of the time , the SI has decent number of horses for no other reason than it is still where a lot of horses are sent for their last chance , the CD is chronically short of horses , more so in the winter when the A/W's will be used the most . I can't be bothered looking back to find the posts but i said early last year that i had stopped in to watch a couple of races whilst waiting for the MIL having a scan , hadn't been to Awapuni for a couple of years so i sat there looking at the inside of the track and thinking that the turns on the A/W were going to be sharp and it would pretty much be a greyhound track , haven't been back since work began but i imagine my initial thoughts would still be correct by the sounds . But the trainers there don't really care they will have a first rate training track , plus if it is as tight as some are saying that is good news for Levin and Foxton for their J/O's and trials .
  11. It works if the smaller entities are accepting that they don't really hold any power , the problem with the Horowhenua consortium was that neither club really had their heart in it , what i called told was that the LRC representative that went to the final signing was actually supposed to go with the intention of withdrawing LRC from the consortium but because he thought i was the right thing to do still signed , false or true i can't say just what i got told . Race purely wanted LRC strong finances and track because they were in a poor financial position , i don't think that has changed no matter how much they doth protest that things are all good .
  12. I Don't know what Foxton had to offer Race but Levin were and still are a financially strong club that owns it's own track , hence Race were very keen to get control , at the meeting i mentioned before it was made clear that Race would be the managers of the Levin track and couldn't give assurances that the track wouldn't be sold , no one in their right mind would accept that offer , Sargent was very pissed .
  13. Levin was part of the Horowhenua consortium with OMRC and while not a complete disaster it didn't really work , Levin especially from what i seen and heard was always short changed on the track maintenance especially , but i think both clubs gave a sigh when it finally dissolved , OMRC the joined Race which was never really worked for them either and were more than happy when that dissolved also .
  14. If things are managed properly there is simply no reason to close down winter racing , it can be just as enjoyable as summer racing in it's own capacity . It is short sighted mismanagement that has us in this position . Will it change , unlikely , so natural attrition will eventually shrink NZ racing to a small pocket of enthusiasts . Closing down winter racing would simply accelerate that process .
  15. I wonder if NZTR know this , i am assuming not .
  16. The last time Race asked Levin to join them they had the might of NZTR there as well , I was there and to say that they got the short shift is putting it mildly . Sargent from NZTR even gave veiled threats about the future of LRC if they didn't but to no avail . Whether the there is a will to say no again is still there i can't say . Race will want LRC's finances . I would think it would also all but end the J/O's there as Race have the A/W .
  17. They wont , owners will continue to walk away . How many of the jumpers were looking to get a run under their belts before next week ?
  18. It's all good tho , owners will get $250 to cover their cost of travelling .
  19. Hahahaha , yet again , within half an hour of racing commencing Hawera has been called off , it's like the Punch and Judy show , just a bunch of puppets running the show . Plain embarrassing .
  20. The Ipswich fields were decimated once xfered , Te Rapa fields would be the same , the horses running at TR need wet tracks to be competitive , the thing that the brains trust never got when talking about building A/W's . It's apples and oranges .
  21. Geez Huey , your just inviting the twat to come back on here with some rocks of wisdom , don't poke the beast .
  22. And has managed it with great vigor , the guy's a disease , another that has been living on the lazy susan of so called professional suits for far too long .
  23. He's actually starting to sound a bit like Boris Johnson .
  24. That headline could just as easily read " CG defends his leadership of Racing Board as participants continue to exit " .
  25. Obviously adding those 2 races has fucked with the bureau's heads , fields still not out 1 1/2 hours after withdrawals . All too much for them to cope with .
