The fact that you can't think of anything tells you that the people in the industry that carry weight have never stood up about anything that has been thrown at the industry , never rock their own boat .

No one will admit anything , they will say but look at the fields a couple of weeks ago , nothing to do with the 30k stakes of course , the fields for Thursday should set alarm bells ringing . Even Cambridge will hit a wall , they did last year , even allowing for the fact that Cambridge is the biggest training center in Australasia and have Matamata on their doorstep they can't fill all their fields all of the time . Admit nothing and smile .

They may not be able to race on grass but they can keep their horses fit on the fantastic A/W training track , and after all that's all some are really worried about .

When they have an agenda that is inconsequential .

Certainly if they don't start looking after the have nots .

Well it's good to see we finally have a tiered racing system . The haves and the have nots .

NZTR are increasing minimum to 14k but the new consortium in Auckland are already paying 15k minimums , wouldn't the smart thing to do be increase the minimums to 15k so everybody is aligned , or is that asking tooooo much of the brains trust . Or would it have meant that to cover that extra 1k they would have only been able to increase G1's to 299k ? So many big questions .

One only has to watch a field coming around the home turn and up the straight to see how much lateral movement happens in races here , not just near the front but further back . There is a real lack of duty of care by jockeys here . You can often see the better jocks steering clear of the younger riders in particular , but this issue isn't confined to just the apps , or any particular part of NZ .

For an intelligent guy that is series of stupid questions .

Is there even 600 horses in work in the whole of the SI ?

Is there a worse track in NZ for a leader bias , it makes for bloody boring viewing and punting . And they are going to chuck 5 60k races at it in a few weeks , more wasted industry money .

Read that and just shook my head , they must be going to close Otaki , Levin and Foxton , plus some others . Weren't they also just about to kick one of the bigger stables off the track not so long ago . It's just more bullshit to sell the product , there is no way they will get 400 horses trained there. The CD will be lucky if they have 400 horses trained in the whole district in 5 years .

I love the comment in the opening statement about the continued decline in NZ racing and whether participants are prepared to allow the decline to continue and do nothing , " NZTR are not prepared to bear that responsibility and has taken a leadership role preparing for this consultation document " . Why are they making it sound as if they are doing the industry a favour , they are the head body so they must bear that responsibility , and if not them then who should take on the leadership role . They sound as if they have just opened up an office in NZ and aren't happy with what they see and are prepared to help the industry out of the mire . They are fucken clueless and deluded . If the industry is in such a dire straight they only have to look back over the last 20 years of their weak leadership to see why the industry is on it's knees . The one thing they should take responsibility for is the current situation , be brave , put your hands up to that one . Absolutely spineless .

Do we think there is anybody at NZTR working this weekend , brainstorming ideas to find some sort of sensible solution this predicament ? And i do understand that NZTR and brainstorming in the same sentence is an oxymoron .

One would assume the TAB big wigs thought they knew best and didn't need anyone's input , if they even knew he had radio experience . TAB owned frequencies , felt they no longer required them and made a business decision to dispose of them . Was it a good business decision ? Was it a business decision based on sound financial data ? So many questions , very few answers , we can only speculate .

Perhaps they can use some of the money from tomorrows abandoned Trentham meeting to top up these MAAT races . In fact a better idea is to abandon racing in the CD for the next 3 months and give each horse in work a payout from the stakes saved , at least the owners won't be continually shafted by the amateur pricks that are running NZ racing . This is the chickens coming home to roost on the decision to mothball certain tracks that could now be available for racing . The only thing these pricks can predict happening is their next pay day . p.s. There is supposed to be another meeting at Trentham next week , you know the odds now beat them .

Reputable , this seasons SI filly of the year , xfered from Pitmans to Moroney in Melbourne . Seems their strategy of pumping even more money into the top end isn't stopping our best young talent from going to Aus . But hey what do the plebs know . And to top that off i read that story on the Love Racing website , fucking clueless is giving them far too much credence .

The G1 will also be a small field , we simply don't have the depth at the top end anymore . The stakes become irrelevant when we simply don't have the numbers to fill the races , as above the number of horses that get thru to the higher ratings is thinning year on year , and by that i mean the quality horses . There are plenty of horses who are getting into a high rating by shear attrition , being the best of a small bad bunch , why , because we now lose so many horses to Aus , horses of all grades . And now i regularly see nice lower grade horses being sent to Aus to race , 1/2 race winners who's owners aren't prepared to race for the mediocre money anymore . And as owners see that their horse could compete in the metropolitan races for the 140k on a Saturday , more and more will try . And this is just going to continue gaining momentum , we have lost so many nice fillies in the last 2/3 years , the ones that go usually go thru to make up our fillies and mares stakes races that the result was seen in the size of their group races a couple of months ago . On top of that the numbers being bred are slowly dropping so that after sales , have been held , yearling and rtr etc , that the available pool for racing becomes reduced on a regular basis . Yet i see no strategy from the power brokers of our industry to stop the avalanche of horses leaving our shores , this is the single biggest issue for the coming seasons , because as our numbers drop so our quality drops , and if the group racing is under fire at present given the current decline we might be lucky if we can run a genuine G3 race , no matter what the big breeders want .

If they knew anything about grass roots the tracks wouldn't be fecked either .

Notice the parallel direction they are both taking with , all down hill . His decision making at the Warriors is farcical , sacked Shaun Johnson saying they couldn't win a premiership with him and rehired him 3 years later when he was even worse saying he was the experienced head they required , the guy makes it up on he hoof .

And where do people really want to race a horse ? Tough question .

Can't fill a G1 with quality horses so the response is give them more , can't fill Group races for mares so the response is give them more money . Doesn't matter as we won't have group 1 races in a few a few years as we are not meeting the average rating measurement , maybe even no G2 races . Then don't give any incentive for the battler to keep racing the average horses or invest in new horses . As per usual a poorly thought out plan that doesn't deal with the big issues in our industries .
