Going on the colors I think the horse is Cent Home? -
I think nztr were selling them as xmas gifts to industry participants, kind of your kids. Someone's going to have to pay as we know nztr haven't got to pennies to rub together.
-
Done, your paying eh.

Don't know where you found my enthusiasm in what i wrote, as I said yesterday, i believe we are past the point of no return. My point is if this guy whose own brother has taken aim at the administration of our industry, can't take any of that on board then what hope is there. Other than bringing in V'Landys and giving him open slather I can't see any hope.

The handicapping or ratings is an easy fix, at least through the lower grades , stop rating our racing to suit international standards, we're a long way off that now, rate to what we have. Set weights solves a lot of issues, 58kg for males and 56kg for females , till open grade. Call the grades what you want, say we keep them the way we are, your horse wins a mdn goes to 65 gets 58kg wins again, stays in the same grade but goes to 60kg , wins again goes to 75 grade gets 58kg , so on and so on . Best horse wins, but the above only happens if the horse is winning Saturday races , if they are industry days , each win incurs 1kg penalty, so they get 3 wins in midweek before going up a grade . Your horse runs 2,3,4th stays same weight anything worse the horse loses a kg . None of this huge ratings jumps for age grade black type performances ,2,3,4th horse stays at whatever rating it had before race , winner gets 2kg, losers get 1kg off . That's a rough plan but it stops this weighting horses out of racing or getting hammered for consistent place getting. For me it means best horses win if good enough . If a horse is good enough to win 4 of it's first 6 races say , a mdn and 3 Saturday 40k races , that's 75 + k , with more than come. Might stop some of the cheaper trial sales. Some may say that's not fair on the other horses but we shouldn't be rewarding mediocrity, a good horse should be able to show that without getting hammered after a few consistent performances, because some nice horses take more racing to get there but are still performing well but getting weighted out of it because of that . And really most of our horses aren't good enough to put them together in a row, but the good ones should be allowed to instead of being sold . This is just an outline that can definitely be tweaked and adjusted but for me it would be a much fairer system based on the quality of our horses.

This is it for the industry, if this guy under performs then there is no coming back. Understands the industry and unless he doesn't speak with big red any more he will have understanding of what and where the issues are, big red has been one of the few trainers to have openly complained about how we are being managed and there is no way he isn't going to be in his brother's ear. Hopefully he gets some others opinions as well. And not just the well healed ones. Fingers crossed, because for me this is definitely the last stop before the cliff.

Bummer just seen the photo and got it straight away but then seen it was solved. One tough hombre on and off a horse. -
That's the clash everyone wants. It was a weak field for sure but treated them with disdain . But 3/4 months on a spring 3yo can bring a lot of changes so it is going to be interesting for sure.

Mate did you see the horse that won it , that was class , and the preparation that he did it on. Tutukaka went fair over there, but as we know that form can still be lengths better then here .
-
The way Tutukaka finished of his last race and having that Aussie campaign under his belt he looks very tough. Had a little nibble at White Noise a few weeks back, don't know if he has the class but a tough tradesman type and that can often be enough to get the job done.

I've tried to not be negative and find one thing that i could say, " this is something that will be good for the industry going forward " , nada , which doesn't bode well for the future. Big job for the whoever replaces Saundry , not only trying to get things going forward but having to undoe all Saundry's mess.

I am yet to see a positive put up, scary.

There was a party when DH moved to Foxton , when there was talk of him coming back a certain gap man said he would quit if he did , I can't recall anybody happy at the prospect , at that time i had never met him and thought he can't be that bad , I was to find out he was .
-
Don't believe he ever did , he was a great man if you wanted a concoction made up, had recipes for everything, and always happy to help out.
-
DH is still doing 4 or 5 , but he has definitely mellowed, saying that i haven't had anything to do with him for 4 years .
-
It was half the reason I went to the track in the mornings, Kevin Elliott, Erroll Skelton , Dave Enright, Jack Scott, always brought humor and sanity to any conversation. And not to forget David Howarth when he lost his lollies and you could hear his yelling and ranting from any end of the tie-ups . Actually DE wasn't that far behind DH when something upset him. I do so miss those mornings.
-
Proud to call myself a negative old fart, it means i was lucky enough to see the great times and gave me something to judge today's standards by . And they have been found wanting.
-
I don't know if i have enough years left waiting for someone to find a remedy to overcoming the their idiocy. But good luck trying.

Jesus, let's hope none of our Mick Dittmans hear that one, or it will become a regular in the stipes reports. -
