  1. Ok once more for the slow . He started the shit by suggesting that Joe wasn't relevant because he didn't live in Levin and that because i wasn't as in the know as i had been that i had walked away and lacked commitment , so who started the low blows , not exactly the way to start a conversation . And i'm not asking SA to disclose who they are , i already know , i asked them that if they were going to knock our credentials then stump up to prove their if they want us to trust what they are saying and not make it to look like they are doing no more than blowing hard about their inside knowledge . I started this thread out of my concern about Levin closing and that i supported it remaining integral to the CD racing scene . SA was the one that came on swinging low blows at posters because they're not in know . Plus no one is denigrating them for what they are trying to do because we still don't know what they are doing and until such time as that knowledge is imparted and they stop knocking other posters i will continue to ask them for credibility . So you get your facts straight before threatening me with expulsion , it's not that important in my life , there is other posters i like to discuss issues with , but you do what you feel you have to . Still waiting for this to happen , a new poster coming on here and acting like the new cock in the hen house , never a great way to make friends and influence people . Let see what you say to them , not much i would suspect .
  2. Apparently not Freda going by my smack on the hand .
  3. Ok , i said i wouldn't get partake in conversation with you again but get one thing straight , SA started this shit with his besmirching both Joe and myself and our knowledge and contribution to the industry . He hasn't bothered fronting with his credentials to backup their statements , just came on blowing hard about what they know and we don't . If he only knew my history within the district he might show a little bit of respect . And if they have got skin in the game then let them back up their comments before belittling others involvement in racing both here and in Australia . So how about you say the say the same to them , or perhaps your mentality is tainted , in fact i'm sure it is . Don't get as one sided as your counterpart on channel X has become , it drags the site down .
  4. That was worth posting twice .
  5. Don't doubt it SA , fact . And never assume , never said i had walked away just not as involved on a day to day basis , partly for health reasons , still race horses . Now that is more than you've offered up . So as i asked share your involvement in racing and what the exciting news is , this is a discussion forum and this thread is about the Levin track and all you've done so far is try to sound like you are in the know . You are beginning to look like a kid that has found their parents password to their laptop . Stay off the porn sites , you'll go blind doing it anymore than you already are .

  7. Your wasted on here , you should be on a low lying stage .
  8. What's your involvement ? I'm not as close as i used to be so no i'm not aware of what is happening , i started the thread by saying what i had been told , so fill us in , excite us with what's going to happen . As for having a dig Joe , he's forgotten more than you know about racing and horses .
  9. SA could you let us know who's manning up and what they are doing to stop being pushed around any longer ? because i have neither heard nor read of any person or persons taking measures to rectify anything that has been done to racing in the CD or prevent any more damage being done . I hope what you say above is correct , but far too much damage has been done to ever recover into anything resembling the industry that used to exist in the district .
  10. We'll never know they don't run 85s anymore , most open handicaps have more horses under 85, even 75 , than over 85 . Go and look at the " open " stayers handicaps run this winter , mostly low rated horses winning them . The rating system needs a complete overhaul , to reflect the reality of to day's horses racing in NZ , not to show we are still part of the big boys racing circle . Oh and give it enough time and it could well be a 74 Winter Cup in a few years .
  11. Sounds like Race has got into the committee's ear . Don't know what the membership numbers are like now , i know 20 odd years ago when Race and NZTR tried to force it on the club the membership wasn't that big and mostly of a fair age . The present committee from what i have seen are reasonably new to it , and they are the ones promoting it to the membership . Young enthusiast people , not just racing committee's needing them to come thru , the whole industry are looking for them .
  12. Just had a look at the nom's , 10 over 82 , 5 ex northerner's , highest rated at 101 garnered those from overseas form , hardly a standout field , basically an 85 rated race , no where near the quality it used to be , but then what open cup is .
  13. Well they will start with paying down all their debt . As for the Trentham development , if you read all the words none of them said anything about upgrading the track . So flash buildings everywhere but racing on a shit surface . Perhaps they will do the track with the spare 10+ mil left from the Levin money , more likely Awapuni if anywhere . It could fund a couple of A/W's but any more is the last thing racing needs .
  14. Don't worry about yourself Reefton , there will always be the need for the SI as a home for the northern castoffs . It's the CD that could really feel the effects , year on year there has been a clear decline in not only numbers but standard of horses filling the CD fields . Also the number of tracks in the CD with surface issues is a major concern , yet again they are doing patch and repair jobs but nothing that would be called long term problem solving , just keeping the hang man from the door . The northern area is not immune to the horse issue either , not so much quantity but quality , their big races are not being filled with any thing like the quality of previous years , and i'm not talking about decades ago , the quality is way worse than even 5 years ago and getting worse year on year . Taumaranui Cup is a window into the predicament , it is barely a 75 rating race . Saying a rating 75 is giving it too much quality .
  15. I get your point but it's poor quality black type and false pedigree , the money bit i can live with but i can tell you we won't have a G1 in a few years the way it is going . Our highest rated horse is Levante at 109 , for a race to maintain it's G1 status it has to have an average of 115 for the first 4 home in the race for the last 3 runnings , show any race here last season that can do that . It's the same process for the lower group and listed races . Our G1's will be lucky to be G3 or listed in 5 years . Look at Italy no more G1's , i'm sure there are other countries the same . The Taumaranui Cup used to be 100k and black type , some of the editions were great races , tomorrow's is a farce , like most of our better races .
  16. Agree with much of that Reefton , the Levin situation is interesting , if you drive to the track it has a big sign saying it is run by the " Levin Track Trust " , now i don't know enough about the legalities around it but surely if it is in a trust NZTR can't touch it but others can put me straight . Now my understanding is that this is being done willingly , i know the strength of the committee is not as strong as it has been and maybe it is dying a natural death . A great windfall for Race if they do get anywhere near the figure i was told . As for Pukekohe i don't know anything about how their position has come about other than what we read but they have had plenty of help trying to rectify their track issues , so whether it is due to a lack of interest or a willing decision i don't know , my feeling is that with Auckland being NZ's biggest city it makes sense for the clubs to come under one umbrella , i think you have mentioned that you guys on the coast could hold a much stronger position if you all batted on the same team but some feel they are better than others , i maybe incorrect in my memory . As for the Messara recommendations they are coming to fruition thru natural attrition , something that NZTR could have done purely by putting standards in place for clubs to have race licences , tough standards around tracks and turnover , KPI's for want of a better word , and then the strong survive and the weak die . Then there wouldn't be so much of this ill will that is in racing now .
  17. Get used to it Peanut , and if you think this is just winter racing guess again , our open handicaps last summer were abysmal . In fact give it a few more years and this could be the standard of one of our current G1 races . The rate of horses being sold out of this country has hit alarming levels . We currently have only 10 horses rated 100 and above , i think only one or two is under 5years of age . How many of those do you think are going to race in Australia this spring and next Autumn . The mares situation is dire . Anything that makes it past a sale ring and then shows something in the trials or race day are sold , but also now a lot of owners are waking up to the fact that their horses can be competitive in Sydney and Melbourne and are sending them over there to race , i see a new one nearly every week . Welcome to the new world order . p.s. The ones in control have no idea how dire it is or of they do they are playing at being the 3 monkeys .
  18. I don't understand , and i would love to say why but some of the decisions taken have not helped themselves , but some stuff i simply can't repeat . Things like giving up their G1 to be run at Trentham was weak , IMO , the club just handed back 3 of their raceday licences because some on the committee couldn't be bothered . The club is in a financially strong position because of decision made many years ago . To be strong club you need a robust and willing committee , unfortunately most clubs struggle to fill a committee with enough of these types . The Levin classic day , under whatever name , used to the years highlight , but it was allowed to die a slow death , what they have now is a pale shadow .
  19. This has been mentioned recently on channel X and i didn't think it was serious , BUT , i was talking to someone yesterday who has more day to day connection than myself and apparently this is a goer . What i was told was that there is a special members meeting to discuss joining Race and selling the Levin track , the word is they think they can get 30mil for the track . Levin is having a real building boom , there are a lot of building projects , big and smaller , happening in Levin at present , so i could see a developer being interested . I would presume there is a lack of enthusiasm within the club to continue with the day to day operations , i have noticed that the J/O's are being run much less regularly than in bygone years . Getting people onto the committee for every club is becoming a tough proposition and perhaps that is a big driver . Sad if it happens but racing in the CD really is on the decline , and most of the people i speak to who still have shares in horses are quite disillusioned with the game and the current direction or lack of it , and are seriously considering their future ownership prospects going forward . A sad sign of the times .
  20. I wonder if they are putting on an extra meeting next week or are they , as i suspect , just going to let everybody take their chances at Hawera .
  21. Ye of little faith , they've got it under control .
  22. Yeah it's called summer , where at least most of the time meetings aren't abandoned .
  23. 196k spread over 7 races at the Cambridge A/W today , is that really value for racing money . I didn't notice any discernible increase in betting to any other Cambridge meeting . What are they trying to achieve , i see they have increased a race next week to 30k . Just worked it out , money wasted today is saved from the Otaki meeting .
  24. I would have thought the easy solution was xfer the Otaki meeting to Waverley on Saturday , they done that for the Castletown Stakes meeting . Just add some of the Saturday races to the Waverley programme . Too easy or too obvious maybe . Or as you suggest quite happy to save the stakes . Also how many of the northern runners now nom'd for the Ryder at Te Rapa would have travelled to the CD for the race ?
  25. Every time i have thought it was that easy i end up getting a " kick in the kods " . Have you actually factored in the jockeys , never do what you expect them to , good luck tho .
