Hey Reefton , did a belligerent old prick just call you , a belligerent old prick ?
  3. Can we stop the dick measuring and ruining a positive thread , start a new one if you must continue .
  4. There has been far more successful stallions with a great pedigree and average or no race performance , where as there has been many great racehorses that have failed at stud because of a lack of pedigree , as in the bottom line . A good racehorse by a champion stallion does not guarantee success at stud . Possibly the best stud at identifying great stallions purely on pedigree with no race performance has been White Robe Lodge , Mellay and Noble Bijou , 2 of the great stallions that have had an influence on NZ racing and pedigree .
  5. And then if someone doesn't want to play with the big boys then just buy a small share in a cheapish horse for a bit of fun . All TA purchases today showing 100% still for sale , but their cheapest purchase , an Embellish colt at 80k , all sold out . Their record with cheaper purchases is outstanding , and i'm talking the 120km and under mark .
  6. Exactly why i grow my own . But as you say 23/24 season could be a lucrative season racing a horse .
  7. If someone is looking to join a syndicate then the only sensible way to go is TA , Go Racing aren't even in the same ballpark , and they are now looking at Aus for anything that is showing promise . Anybody looking at getting into a horse this year is brave , with not even knowing what the stakes for the 23/24 season are going to be . Paying 0000's to race for spuds .
  8. Never got the love fest for him .
  9. Buying a particular stallion in numbers like Savabeel purely playing the numbers , the colts syndicate is one syndicate of owners working on one winning "The stallion making race 2000gns " or a G1 race of some description , selling that one horse makes the profit for the whole syndicate , get 2 or more and your quids in . Sangster and his mob started this in the 70/80s , buying everything no matter the price and reap the rewards selling as stallions , some at huge prices , some at not so huge , but at the end of the season it was about profit . If nothing works then the tax write off covers the losses .
  10. I wish DE would leave some horses fro the other NZ trainers , oh that's right the rest don't have any money . The dearth of horses being sold to race here is alarming , i would suggest most bigger owners are spending their bucks to race in Aus , Foresman just paid 600k for a lovely filly , educated here heading for Mt Macedon ?
  11. Not sure he's going , got to get thru the Herbie Dyke then the Derby . He's gone under the radar right thru so no surprise the Aussies haven't put him in their markets .
  12. That's where it came from , seems no one knew who Vanbrugh was or his achievements .
  13. Try Wild Night without the K , still a work in progress but huge upside . Has a great constitution and a fantastic attitude , nothing worries him . I hope you are correct about huge future in Oz .
  14. It shows how far our depth of horses has fallen , i could understand if some of his form was in black type , think Shamus Award winning a Cox , but alas no , the owners are relying on it being a poor field and they can battle into a stake better than winning a maiden .

Sales mate , overrides everything else . I could understand it more if NZ trainers were buying in large multiples but most struggle to afford a couple of the big buys . I think it's more a boys break . Saying all that it is a brilliant week , would do it every year if the boss would let me . Of course after having my arms nailed to my sides to stop all possibly of me lifting them to make a purchase .
  16. Shame that you fell at the first hurdle .
  17. Sounds like you have been talking to Te Akau.
  18. Thanks Joe, can't scoff at 2nd, can't win every race so have to roll with the punches, got a few scrapes and bumps so we'll see what the washup brings, still his first full prep and if I'd been offered what he's done at the start I would have jumped at it. Congrats to the winners. Bravo Morrie.
  19. Stupidity isn't a crime otherwise some in nztr would never see the light of day again.
  20. Yes but property values in Wellington have risen.
  21. People in the rest of the country don't have enough money anymore to fly anywhere.
  22. Tried that hence the chosen name, few and selected is my criteria.
  23. Thanks Joe, if I could do anything to effect a positive result I would, and you would be surprised to what lengths I would go to. Appreciate the thoughts.
  24. I think this thread could be in use for a decade at the minimum .
  25. It's not , but they bloody well make look like it is .
