  1. Whale in a little pond .
  2. as to above , Te Rapa next Wednesday , i reckon there is 5 races that could be split , but only are going to be , one of them possibly into 3 , but what about the others ? have to wait till the following week for Matamata .
  3. I personally think will see more of this , they will be trying to keep down stakes costs as much as possible seeing as how they are now subsidising stakes due to the 8.5mil deficit from the TAB .
  4. Surprise , surprise .
  5. The money is incredible , it's like a tap that can't be turned off . Hardly a horse under 100k , that's not normal , they are not all great types , so plenty of overs being paid for some , or plenty . I have looked at a few video's and i must say some of the presentation is average , as are some of the horses that are going for big money . The 650k Snitzel colt the TA bought looked and walked like a draft horse for mine , so heavy already i can't imagine him staying a colt for ever . Also if it was bought for a stallion prospect the it's missing an important component , pedigree page , nothing till 3 dams back and even then only fair , JMO . He did buy a lovely All Too Hard filly for 170k , a snip along most , lovely type and walker .
  6. too late , always bumping into shit all the time so may as well keep on .
  7. They have brought it on themselves , have been piss weak in allowing themselves to be pushed around , allowed some changes to get some stupid concessions i.e. getting the cup back to 2 miles . I have said this for a long time , our industry isn't big enough for carnivals anymore , we should be having regular stand alone BIG days , and then true ICONIC days , say once every 6 or 8 weeks , with the big days positioned in between the iconic days as preludes to the iconic meeting , all other Saturday race days run as premier days , no maidens , or in the winter amatuer races .
  8. They do that and some of those old farts won't be able to raise their arms to make a bid , they will busy else where .
  9. Depending on your religion you can be absolved of your sins .
  10. That works just as well .
  11. Yeah , first prize , you don't have to attend for the rest of the season .
  12. NZTR are implementing the above as their new ETHOS and code of conduct . They have already had a 75% resignation rate , no one can live up to it .
  13. You are assuming any were watching , they could just as easily have been playing golf , lawn bowls , cribbage even , nothing would surprise me seeing as how little they understand racing .
  14. As you can see i have had my lunch and the batteries are on full charge , i will slow down , eventually .
  15. This is where NZTR are so myopic and insular , i don't have all the solutions to racing's ails , but , i have a shit load of ideas , as so many on here and elsewhere thruout the industry have . By throwing those ideas out there then they are there for others to improve on , expand on , add or subtract to . That is how things can be turned around , it will never happen whilst a small band of erstwhile money grabbing , self interested sycophants keep thinking they have all the solutions , and closing the doors to other industry participants .
  16. Hence the need for the Gisborne's , Wairoa's , Blenheim, Nelson , and any other back water where the young only got exposed that once or twice a year .
  17. This will never be a one man solve , but it needs one man who can come in and bring everyone together as an industry , together the problems can be solved , but it has to be an industry driven project . The man we need is a clone of V'Landy's , then the whales would get a fucken fright .
  18. If that was a criteria you would have lost out to Joe anyway , would have done you like a dogs dinner .
  19. They need to be running every week at Kumara going on those figures , might help offset some of that 8.5mil deficit . Might have been one of the reasons they were trying to can the meeting , they knew they were going to get their pants pulled down over the metropolitan v country argument . Those figures are very embarrassing , and anyone worth their salt in head office should be questioning the direction they are trying to take NZ racing . Won't happen of course .
  20. Haha , most of them don't know what pace they're going now , adding a 2-4 sec rule or some such would just blow their brains up . Could you imagine the carnage .
  21. To know whether your horse is sufficiently clear you have to look , the biggest problem is most don't .
  22. Well if they are you would think you would see regular improvement , when we continually see the desperate state of our riders i would assume very few do .
  23. It was always a bloody stupid idea to run the Marton Cup meeting at Trentham and expecting to race there for 4 Saturdays in a row , they have problems having ready for 3 days , if they do end up moving cup day Race need to be put to the sword , they are a shambles of an organisation . Myopic and narcissistic management .
  24. Well it wouldn't have covered costs , Kumara would have done that for them .
  25. Like him or dislike he was a game shaper in breeding and helped drag the breeding industry to a level of professionalism not seen before .
