Trentham today gives us a small window into one of the issues NZ racing faces , hardly a soul in the public area , it's a pretty good raceday , better than many , yet very few have bothered . A lot of this lies at the feet of both the TAB and NZTR , they have alienated so many punters and racing enthusiasts over the last couple of decades .

Great post Doomed , some very salient points . The bottom line is that the 8.5Mil hole equates to an average of 163k per week they have to trim . As you said the one stake they mustn't touch is the 14k minimum but as a betting man i would comfortably put money on them being one of the first they cut , their thinking will be that there are so many of that level run they can make a substantial saving right there , like National giving the top end a tax cut , make the plebs pay . Bruce Sharrock looked completely defeated in that video , like this was something he definitely wasn't expecting , but take a good look people , these are the 2 leaders who have to bring the industry thru this , i wouldn't be putting any money on them . There is so many issues within our industry that they haven't even looked like solving this could well be the final nail in the coffin . Which could be a good thing in as much it could well force major change from outside the industry , the Govt can't afford racing to fall over . Queensland have just announced a 31Mil increase in stakes for next season , we can only dream , this is basically coming from the Govt handing the tax take from racing back to them . I think this is honestly the only way that NZ racing ever gets it's house back in any semblance of order , a 5 year hiatus on our tax take , can't see it happening . If it did happen then it cannot be put into the hands of the same moronic management that has pissed NZ racings financial stability against a wall , as Joe Bloggs says there needs to be a root and branch clear out , if it gets to that stage then the new racing image won't resemble anything like racing as we have known , which is exactly what needs to happen , it needs to be reformed to future proof NZ racing for the next 100+ years . This job currently is way too big for the current bunch , the fact they haven't even looked to start changing anything , just hanging onto Geo blocking to save their arses , and going to keep the current stakes with reserves and just wait and see what happens at the end of the season means that change needs to start at the top . I mean they wouldn't want to start being pro active and start working on a plan on what they are going to do next season for the betterment of industry participants , because the TAB isn't going to suddenly turn this around . Will any of this happen , more likely not , so i suggest people sit back and hope they don't get swept away in the tsunami that is coming .

It's like both clubs now have teachers aids to help them concentrate better on their lessons .

The Tab has told the 3 racing codes that distribution for the rest of the season will reduced by 15Mil , NZTR's share of the the reduction is 8.5Mil . NZTR via a video release fronted by C George and B Sharrock ( came across like Bill and Ben the flower pot men ) , have made a decision to cover this reduction in distribution from reserves . This has been coming , looking at the monthly figures from the TAB they have consistently been below projected amounts . George and Sharrock said that whilst NZTR will maintain the status quo for the rest of this season if things continue they will have to review things for the 23/24 season . Going to be an interesting watch over the coming months .

Just back from a Xmas trip to Palmy today , read dragged , anyway sitting in the Plaza having a bit of a nibble on a very average Chinese lunch when a long time CD trainer sits down for a yak , long story short the GOSS is that the A/W hasn't been laid properly , also a lot of horses having issues after running on it . Just passing on what i got told , this trainer also agreed that CD racing is Donald Ducked .

Riccarton Friday 2 December 2022 - has Pitty spat Dummy?
nomates replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
If this is correct , i applaud him , only wish him and many others thruout the country had done this for many other issues to do with racing . -
This is a slow news day i can see . And FYI my twin and i were never separated , co joined , he's right here and not Feckin happy , he wouldn't be seen dead in red .

A word i used earlier in the day , 1st race at New Plymouth , 1400 0n a H8 , official time 1.24.26 , track down graded after race 1 to H9 . I call bullshit , how can simple things like this not be done properly , i checked time straight away so i could ascertain how bad the track is , but that time clearly doesn't represent the true nature of the track . C'mon , this is not difficult .

About sums it up .

Haha , compare Riccarton to Flemington . As Ken Kelso said , they had just finished racing at Flemington on Saturday , Tuesday , Thursday and Saturday , with plenty of rain on Cup day yet still presented a good track on the Saturday . So as he asked " if they can do it why can't we ? " , professionalism , that simple , we do everything like country yokals , with no accountability , unless your club happens to be one of the smaller ones , then all the bullies put the boot in . I have said this for years , we need to run the industry Holistically , all for one and one for all , we are only a strong as our weakest club . We need to stop running the industry for the benefit of a few precious clubs . I look at the Levin racing club , who's big day is coming up next week , but is it really still a big day , not going on historical evidence , it is but a shadow of it's former self . Used to be what they now call an ICONIC race day , and i mean it was an ICONIC race day , one of the absolute best , but really noe it's just a step up from another Thursday race day . This was caused by bullying behaviour from NZTR and Race and a weak willed committee . How many other great days have been punctured by this management . Time to stop this and start looking at every club as having an important cog in the industry .
-
So the latest on Stuff , CJC are offering full refunds to those that bought tickets to last Saturday's fiasco , but Mills is asking for those people to not take up the refund so that the financial hit to the CJC is lessened . Fucking really , such a bad look for our industry , can't put up a decent safe track to race on and fucks everybody's day , then pleads poverty to save the financial hit . Just telling people that not only the industry can't prepare tracks , we're broke . Here's something novel , don't put millions into an A/W track and your club wouldn't have been so financially stretched . The industry needs to rid itself of these losers , dragging the rest of us down while padding their pockets .

Even more reason for you to not be playing the mystery shopper . Enjoy yourself .

Always wondered who Steel Balls was , thought it was a bloke but hey i'm open minded .

Whatever the time frame was before it has now been accelerated by the weekends events , as i've said before i give it 2/3 seasons after Ellerslie reopens . 5 years .

If it's was his second last run it's a good way to go out , pressure now on the trainer to ensure he goes out on a double .

Shared leading Riccarton trainers award .

I suggest a cash inducement to ensure the trainer makes the right programming decision , always works for me .

I see one legit trainer on here this morning but quite a few trying to be in their racing suggestions for Light Up . And as expected the one legit trainer is not rushing into making a decision .
