So did Spankem When your on the best horse and the other main chances are behind you id leave the trail to take the lead as well. MP and for that matter any driver would know that Nat would arrive at some point to take it up. 3 back the fence would see him in a hole heap of trouble both on and off course from the feds and Keyboard warriors
-
The outside horses made such a flyer that even the biased commentator failed to see that Self Assured had made a flyer. I suspect the Postman will not be a happy chappy tonight.
-
Nonsense Gamma , when you have the best horses and know their racing styles you dont need to team drive. Just remind me what the distance was between 3rd and 4th🤔 Or , as some on here would like they let others win the big races to make the game fair zzzzzzzzzz

The BGP don't seem to be restricted by the TAB
JJ Flash replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Trotting Chat
HRNZ would do well to attract such a fine body of Young enthusiasts to attend harness races other than Cup week .Once again TB boys on the money on a regular I see BGP are attending NZ Greyhound Cup meet on Thursday. What does that say Happy -
Self Assured at good enough odds for me to unload. Unfortunately and i hope I'm wrong but I'm thinking Lamb may a bigger part in the races outcome than the respective horses ability. Greg
-
Your living proof. Keep looking after your chosen ones as Mikie is on the money with his observations imho. I'm sure you'll see it another way
-
Quite right Chief and you would know Greg
-
Be interesting to see if the masses agree with you when it comes to the punting/revenue side of things. Harness's biggest punting day as a rule versus TB's 5th or so. Im picking their will be a lot more liquidity at Riccarton than Addington and thus you will be able to unload big time on Fixed odds just like the previous years. And NO this is not a Brodie wind up. Liquidity for bookies is everything

Better known as Nifty Norman and i should have added Chris Ryder, not a bad trainer who is keeping DD in clover at present
-
In case you had not noticed , many have: Dunn Norman Butt and Lillie to name but a few. But,given the number of amateurs/part timers in the game Harness will continue . Some decent management and governance would add to the games longevity but just look at who is running the show now. A serious group of under achievers IMHO TB's will last even longer due to their nationwide popularity. So dont be too depressed Chief . there will always be something for you to moan and lament about😃 Greg
-
If you want to put it that way. I like the latest improved figures if you and others dont there is nothing i can do about it. I repeat the whole racing industry is and has been for some time in decline for the reasons i outlined earlier. In that context the latest figures look reasonable to me . If you see it otherwise so be it Greg
-
My point exactly. Is it too late to rectify historic F ups - probably Greg
-
We all know domestic racing , especially Harness is in massive decline and has been for years. Poor governance and amateur's pretending to be professional. Further, Kiwi's are not in the same league as Ozzies and Asians in terms of horse gambling. Firstly Lotto, then Casinos and Pokies in Pubs have far more domestic appeal nowadays and there is only so much disposable income Gallops are slightly better but propped up by extensive profitable sales offshore which Harness will never match as its not a national sport let alone an international one. If you think other wise your delusional
-
No matter what TAB do or results they publish you will bag them . You get the prize for being 100% consistent. The figures are there for all to see, You moan when they didn't produce numbers now they are published you still moan. You see then one way others another. As fixed costs are pretty well contained GBM is the metric the current NZTAB now obviously want to focus on re results and outcomes. Most bookies overseas use same metric but you obviously know more than them being an ex senior Manager Greg
-
Latest numbers dont look too bad to me but lets not get facts in the way of a good repetitive moan Mr Brodie Note the GBR which is where the new Board and Management are concentrating on. GW will surely know all about that " September Wagering Performance Highlights Turnover of $210.7m was $34.4m above budget and $25.9m above last year. Strong performance against budget was driven by all products; sport +$19.0m, international racing +$11.4m and domestic racing was +$1.6m and VIP +$2.4m. Gross Betting Revenue (GBR) of $34.6m was $7.2m above budget and $5.4m above last year at a margin of 16.4%. Domestic racing accounted for $61m in turnover, with overseas racing making up $82m of the month’s total turnover and sport delivering $68m in turnover.

Weigh In: Where is Harness Racing's equivalent?
JJ Flash replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Trotting Chat
Its up to each code to promote its own codes. TABNZ give them the funds from profits which new Racing board allocates to the respective codes. What and how they do with that money is up to GRNZ,HRNZ and NZTR Put simply TABNZ are now entirely in the gambling business which generates income for respective codes. Part of that centre's on Trackside who provide space to the codes to air content. The difference IMHO between Box Seat and Weigh in is that the latter generates turnover whilst the Box Seat is a review program. -
TAB New Zealand update on trading performance - August 2020
JJ Flash replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
Carry on moaning all of you , its got you you all a long way so far hasn't it August numbers look good to me and i like this "Actual distributions of $11.5m for August were paid to the Racing Codes vs $10.7m budgeted" Long may it continue and as i have said often on here , for some of the moaners nothing will ever be good enough Good luck to you all Greg -
TAB New Zealand update on trading performance - August 2020
JJ Flash replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
I'm not pushing anything Huey. the numbers are above budget thusfar and hence payouts to the codes have been increased based on the month of August's increased revenue. If you and others think thats a bad thing you are a lost cause. Mind you , if your in that camp you are not alone, you have about 10 other supporters Greg -
TAB New Zealand update on trading performance - August 2020
JJ Flash replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
I wondered when you would pop up with your usual shit. I have no axe to grind or anyone or any group to promote so the Party Line is just a fallacy for you and the Chief to blurb out and hoping it will stick BTW, did you post a "you were correct" re new restructured Management team numbers. I'm pretty sure i was right on at 4. Must have missed that post of yours 😋 -

Only to happy to when you reinstate my PM function. In the interim keep being negative about TAB NZ August update and results. It is after all your modis operandi IMHO Greg -
TAB New Zealand update on trading performance - August 2020

Not any time soon i'd say. Good numbers without it although im sure the same old naysayers and moaners will disagree Greg -
While a CEO may be asked his opinion its the board who issues policy and thereafter it is up to the CEO to carry out such policy. One job is governance the other is operational matters . You seem to struggle with that concept Brodie but rest assured you are not alone. Greg
-
Thats not going to happen any time soon with current structure. Even allowing for 2 new independents its just an old boys club of Amateurs. As for your latter idea about ER he would never want to go back after the way some on the board treated him previously. Greg

Gross betting margin and harness administrators should be fully conversant with it before Racing NZ meets to discuss how much each code gets Greg
