Yep, you've ridden as a jockey, you'd know........reckless riding, not careless IMO and young Adkins will be out for a very long time mores the pity.....forgive the pun.
-
If the missus behaves, I'll take her too.

I'm going out for a steak tonight, good one Freda, and another peach of a ride.......Estupendo Chicas, todos ganadores, Celine tambien!

We had our differences, boy did we, but wish him well, hope he's back defending something he loves soon.

Thanks Curious, love to see/hear Saundry and other's of position put a spin on that.........

AND, They are avoiding the answer to my question........who's funding Karaka Millions? after all, the industry has been propping this initiative up for years. Its NZB's show, so why is the industry subsidising a closed race series that 99% of stakeholders can't get a crack at. This is where the rubber hits the road....time to come clean NZTR. I think every other owner would back me here.
-
I don't think they are Freda, but all I ask is they show true accountability and corporate responsibility and show us all how they can offer/confirm these stakes, on what basis? where is the revenue coming from? if they can, well credit where it's due, if they can't, then they are lying again and embracing deceitful and misleading behaviour........sound familiar. If the stakes are based on a government grant/hand-out, then tell us, don't create a culture of mistrust, oh that's right, the mistrust is already there, so, do away with that, and show everyone your projections, and how they are founded.

Have you seen the interview on BBC World with the Chinese Ambassador to Britain? and the terrible treatment of the UIGHURS? The Ambassador was caught out, xenophobic? anyone who supports that stinking joint is appalling. What has and is happening to the Hong Kongers is sickening and I hope China cops some justice, Trump wont dish it out, so it might take good old Mother Nature.
-
Do you know China is putting pressure on several Pasifika nations Chief? Do you know the story behind Tonga and their sole airplane, the sad state of affairs up in Vanuatu and the bullying and cajoling of The Solomon Islands? God knows who and what else the Chinese are putting the heavies on.......what happens when and if they call in their debt with these poor buggers? China is dangerous and you may think GB is the only nation to offer sanctuary to the Hong Kongers, but AUS was first to offer them 5 year visa's with options.......has NZ? As for no change to racing there? a local jock told me recently that several of the jocks stationed up there have been looking at exit paths, but I can't explain to you how nervous many are up there, are you flying up shortly to take in the sights, sounds, smells? It's a vastly different HK than when I was first there in 1976........your minds made up, so I give in.
-
My point? HK is gone as we know it, racing will continue for a while longer, but HK is now governed by Beijing Chief, do you not watch the news. You obviously know more than my neighbour, a QF Captain, who's spent half his life in HK.........We in Oz are getting ready to receive thousands of Hong Kongers, do you not know that Beijing has put sanctions on Britain now, the sanctions on us are getting larger every day, and if Adern punts Huawei [or has she already] who's to say Beijing will hit you all with massive sanctions? It's only a hair's breath away, I've heard on the Waikato bush radio that there are a number of agents from HK over there now buying up big.....is this because they know what's coming? or are you now the lucky country? Friends Of China? FOC in other words.......cmon chief, you're smarter than that, I'm guessing you've got a good one for sale and looking for a sale to HK.
-
I love your enthusiasm Chief, and I agree they will never close HK for defence reasons, but you must be mad to think China will need anyone but themselves, they have nailed their colours to the wall already, have you missed the signs? HK has been taken, it's going though a dangerous period. If you put your eggs in that basket, good luck, just because they have built all this infrastructure doesn't mean NZ and AUS are seen as long term partners. The Chinese will chew and spit, they eat horse meat you know, that's where the slow ones go, sate and Beijing boilup, but once they start breeding themselves, horses I mean, the export industry from NZ is rooted, and as there is no export tax as it stands, you think the Gov will give a toss? I've lived in ASIA, not holidayed but lived there, whilst SING will keep going, until either Rocket Man [not the horse] or Xi, the megalomaniac decides SING will be absorbed into that wonderful communist regime China has the capability to be totally self sufficient. They own most of the dairy farms in Tasmania now, and how much of NZ........so, IMO the time is coming when those race courses you show will be full of locals cheering on local bred, local trained and ridden, horses that will be bred for racing/breeding and eating, as in fact Mongolia has worked for a thousand years. As a byline, ScoMo has advised all Aussies in HK to, pack up, and get out, come home!.........David Hayes will rue the day, the lucky one is John Moore Cheers.

Note I said if Chief, but let's look at a hypothetical, years back I was asked to source a stallion for Malaysia, they were trying to establish a 'National Stud' there, corrupt as it was, so with a letter of authority and proxy I offered them 'Caboul'......if you remember him he was an outstanding 2yo here in the 70's. They failed, too many personal agenda's, ego's etc......sound familiar?.....anyways, China, as corrupt as it is, could quite easily start their own National Stud, and of course use the expertise of many 'friends of China'......now, depending which Gov is in power and the state of the world in say 5 years or so, AUS and NZ could quite easily be cut out of the loop especially if there are trade embargoes in place, and in our case here, they are already. There are so many Chinese working in racing stables and studs all over the world, so many Chinese owned studs here in Oz too, so, if they start making their own, they wont need us, or anybody as with one and half billion people, who needs anyone else? They are doing it in India, their next door neighbour, very successfully too, albeit on a domestic stage, but again, if China is offside with USA and most of the large trading partners and the South China Sea becomes their playground and very dangerous for intruders, and if they take Taiwan, and they have said they will.........Kiwi mares and Kiwi racehorses will be the last thing on the minds of these people, Hong Kong is on borrowed time, this will all hit the fan, and racing is gone very quickly. Our next door neighbour and friend is a Qantas captain, his main routing was to HK which he loved, but he says he doesn't miss it a bit now, he says HK is gone, in 10 years and I trust his judgement as he knows the machinations of the place. Anyway, that's my take, I hope I'm wrong, there will be massive mortgagee auctions over there if I'm not Chief, and a lot of Range Rovers on trademe!

Gee there are some good posters on the 'other side', I hope Dr Herriot buggers off in pyjamas and his neutered lap dog is put down with distemper or Parvo as they might migrate then...to a far better site. The stakes clarity is a debacle and many are commenting on this. Brian de Lore love or hate is quite correct in his latest summation, the way Petone avoid the elephant in the room is quite sad really, a poor reflection on them all, management level I mean, the creative writing is startling, they just can't bring themselves to tell the truth, therefore we are scaling down also, those able to 'read between the lines' with all their statements spruiking the road ahead, and in the same breath leaving an exit clause will realise this is doomed long term. How can you plan a horses campaign unless you are prepared to fly by the seat of your pants, something NZTA/RITA have been doing for years, you'd also have to be happy to go with status quo, and unbelievably there are some that will do that. COVID19 is NOT responsible for racings woes, bad management is, and it's cost a lot of people their jobs.......but worse still, it's cost many their sanity, and in some cases I imagine much more, if that's possible. All in all, until we can trust, or I'll talk for myself and say, I can trust management of our industry to be honest, transparent and diligent in their dealings with people within our industry I can't bring myself to invest anymore in our industry where I and you are paying the salaries of many of these people......we've invested close to 2 million during the past 10 years, and no one expects to make money with horses, hope yes, expect no.......but to see the waste and mismanagement with no change in sight, only the same old same old....with a tweak here and there has brought us to a halt. The loser will be the young fella that trains for us, like many he is doing it tough, so we'll not desert him, just look to how best we can benefit us, not the people that have brought the industry undone. Finally, if China vetoes racing in HK, there will be an unemployment line stretching from Hamilton to Invercargill, the breeders and the bloodstock agents and the trading trainers will be devastated and eventually lost to the industry, so, the future looks pretty bleak sad to say. I hope for a miracle but at the moment the winners are the trainers here inheriting good horses from struggling trainers or desperate trainers and their owners across the ditch.

If you were hands on this industry and for some unfortunate reason needed or 'had' to have a meeting with Saundry, would you be instilled with confidence? If he did ask the question, do you gallop them everyday , wouldn't you ask him to resign? I would, anyone who thinks that shouldn't hold any position of influence in racing, I'm just aghast......God help us all.
-
Well at least we know Saundry didn't race 90, I wonder if he's put his hand in his pocket to race any? I'll send him a trainers handbook for a Chrissie Prezzie, you never know, his mates at the RIU might give him an owner trainers licence or if he's real lucky a No1......watch out Muzza and co, the premiership could be in danger.

The blokes as thick as a plank, you're wasting your time Freda. #attritiontrainer.

Just mulling this over, as I bet many of you are,.......I've been self employed for 45 years, caught and killed my own, so, this is a conundrum, if you owed a fortune through incompetence and mismanagement and had to borrow to get you out of an unholy mess and your creditors who you have temporarily appeased have no confidence in you, how on earth can you continue in business? Please put me out of my misery, Chief, Curious, Freda etc........if you lot don't know, how can I 3000km away?
-
That's good news for our young trainer, he wont go to Oz now, however, where's the money coming from when you're broke? When you need to find 17 mil per annum before you put food on the table? How the hell are they funding these stakes, by sacking a few? C'mon......tell us the truth Bernard.

RITA 6 month Financial Update- What say you Chief
Joe Bloggs replied to JJ Flash's topic in Galloping Chat
Thanks Mikie, that's at least a more normal salary, we agree they are overpaid, if we could see results that were positive to the industry I'm sure no-one would begrudge a generous salary, however to me and the Missus at least, we find these salary packages insulting and offensive. We have seen good people reduced to rubble as I'm sure you have, we know that Petone would have some good, hardworking and conscientious people, it must make them sick in the tummy to get up Monday and go to work.......#thethingswedo -
RITA 6 month Financial Update- What say you Chief
Joe Bloggs replied to JJ Flash's topic in Galloping Chat
Thanks Mikie, I used Robinson C as an analogy, alone on a desert island, except for a coconut with a face on it.......I wouldn't feed any of the Petone Mob stretching back say 12 years plus, I agree with everything you say, I don't know of Alan, suffice to say a poster of some reputation gave him heaps on a post past.......I'm at least gladdened to read his salary was 33% less than most of these failures..... You can't reward mediocrity Mikie, until this industry is run by people who know this industry, well, same same.....the lies and deceit will continue and mismanagement of money will continue.......they are wrapped and absorbed in a culture......accountability is non-existent ...you now it, I know it, we know it and worse still, ...they know it. Before I die I would love to see it back where it once was, but reality tells me, it's a goneburger, we only have VHS tapes and memories.......and maybe a trophy or two......sad....=......betcha booties. -
RITA 6 month Financial Update- What say you Chief
Joe Bloggs replied to JJ Flash's topic in Galloping Chat
Ok Mikie, tell me why Alan is Robinson Crusoe please, he obviously had no idea what was going on, or was helpless to warn us all, there were no lies and no deception coming out of that joint.....by your reckoning or Alan's , I'm waiting in anticipation....thank you. -
