  1. What an amazing race it is . Look at these bad boys go at Ellerslie !! . you can almost hear the Yeehaa as they soar through the air from the fearless jockeys and jockettes . Hey to 'Walk the Course' must of been a thrill too. so prestigious. love to ov done that
  2. Get with the program TABman 😅. now you at BOAY only 50% of us lose on the punt here , and that's only on a day when we follow your tips !😉 The horse owning business looks good if you are a Fat Debbie or a Dean Shannon. but wow ! don't they spend some and have a few numbers too. they need 25% back to keep it all going . Dean might prop up North Island harness (like Seymour props/propped up his old stomping ground in Brisbane. Dean still has some here too) so can't begrudge them their winners.
  3. Wow . that was something else. 🏇🏇 Do yourself a favour and grab a replay of the 2024 Grand National at Aintree Liverpool . Won't put the Winner here so not to spoil . One of the wonder spectacles of the World in Racing.
  4. Well spotted by the Mrs then mate. First thing I thought when you put this about the Dalgety horse Forever Dream is the Eagle-eye of your wife. The Galah and The Eagle perched there , watching over the ''Kiwi action'. 👍😆 meanwhile a goose or 2 are wandering around at the races lol.
  5. Overnight the 2024 Grand National is on and all the spectacular action in front of 60,000 with some amazing racing was on. the racecard of some of the greatest stayers on the planet jumping over things while at a fast gallop. There's nothing as spectacular as horses in racing silks put to the ultimate test over these uk course 's The recording on my TV is on , and is amazing .done 4 races already. these horses are just Super . and so brave. Here's the score up for the next . they just all walk up like a harness race, and then a flag drops and awaaaay they go. Takes 2 commentators to get through the race-call too . and they are simply Brilliant . some good Irish twang at times too !!
  6. Chief . wouldn't the $25,000 refund to BGP be almost like a bonus bet then. ? given on the proviso that they return and re-invest the same amount in future meetings? I mean they can't just disappear into the night with the cash from losing bets ? can they?
  7. No need to buy a share in there with that mob. We could go with a BOAY team , just chip in $1000 each , make sure we get the TAB refund for any losing Big bets ,(and collect the winning Ones) some more good publicity for Entain TAB. maybe could be called BGT . BOYS GET the TROTS . 😁😆😂
  8. Yes , Nathan was much more patient with that one. Always good to take a sit with the young horses if you can. While they gain confidence. 'Captain's Mistress' looked very good. Very nippy little filly that one . Owned by SWAYZEE"S Aus owner already . Mick Boots bought her in February, and must be delighted with CAPTAIN"s MISTRESS now , as her older brother MERLIN Wins the $1,000,000 race last night , as you described. She'll be in Australia in the not to distant future I imagine.
  9. The Telfers way to good in the 2 year old race as well. with the Bettors Delight half brother to Dreams Are Free also running 3rd to a Telfer runner. Always Dreaming had every chance in front , with Telfers Bettor Anvil parked from the I/2 mile ,but way too good for Williamson's 2 year old. so that's All 3 of them expensive 1/2 brothers ALL 'Run over after leading ' Mr Galah in the past 24 hours 😳. Always Dreaming (2yearold) Dreams Are Free(3 year old) and Don't Stop Dreaming (4 year old) Perhaps they should ease and take a trail ? 😂
  10. yes they did well 🙄 , and came out with a winning bet supposedly. Mind you , I was boggled by the whatever it was they put on Republican Party in the previous race. They didn't judge ''Speed Maps there well at all old sport. I'd rather have Self Assured running anyday , rather than Kango. They just got lucky. $50 k on Kango to beat some of those star horses?. lucky he squeezed Mark down on the passing lane in the run home or he was toast. I'd be nervous with $10 of your money on it hahaha 😂. Plus they had to hope Nat wasn't headed off early in the race . Probably could of won if she took the sit on the Aussie as it panned. and left Merlin parked. But had a real crack at taking it out as she always does. Congrats Merlin owner QLDer Dean Shannon , probably the richest man in trotting and just getting richer.
  11. And what a terrible way to spend $50k it was too. Kango and DSD to both be in Top 4. A field of quality runners and Kango did get 3rd, but was only a metre off being 6th. with better performed horses Self Assured, Old Town Road , and Better Eclipse all but getting past him right at the line + 10m after held up in run home and all sorts of things. They were playing for Luck and got it. I'd rather spend $50k on 5 funerals then sweat on Kango holding out some Stars of the Track for 3rd or 4th. It's a funny world.
  12. I fail to believe Any Betting agency would 'refund' losing bets . Large ones or not. I do accept they will make exceptions to the 'restriction' rule on the size of bets , for regular customers who promise to make regular 'large' bets. this is the privilege they get. esp BGP Everyday punters would not get that leeway. is like a casino high rollers privilege. with the normal gaming tables having tight limits. I was wondering how many 'customers' do BGP have involved in their bets ? i.e How many people are invested in those large bets each week? approx.
  13. Well Nat has given Don't Stop Dreaming every possible hope to win the GrinsRace. But once again mowed down by Merlin. Possibly, . Space> but Merlin led and won last week as well beating DSD at Waikato, and also at Addington in a high pressure NZ Derby Group 1 back in Dec. Merlin led and won there as well, and having a bet on DSD in that, I was a little disappointed at the time that Mark didn't reel Merlin in . Don't feel so bad now as Merlin is proving to be the superior animal. DSD is racking up a whole heap of Big 2nds though . good quinella horse lol. 😅
  14. You kiwis have TOO much money. BGP put what sort of bet on Republican Party ? Against a Mark Purdon driven horse in Top form . Don't they know what 35m handicap means? Back to the gallops for those boys. Nice win by JUST BELIEVE in the TAB trot. maybe BGP should of seen his form and had the BIG BET on him ? (Had won 11 of his last 12 ) and a couple of clean Sweep Interdominions past 15 months too . No trotting experts at Boys Get Paid ? maybe they need BOAY to put them on the Right track ?👍😉
  15. they do Chief. we've been importing em' by the bucket load for years now. Think tomorrow has only 2 Aussies in the Sydney Cup ( and 3 kiwi's 😉) Trainers poms Anabel Neesham and Eustace have joined the training ranks last few years with great results. And who doesn't love a Dress-up party ? the Ladies go to great lengths to look fabulous on the big race-days and it's fantastic the boys make an effort too . I'd love to go along in a top hat . (beats the thing the Shiekhs are wearing anyway 😂) My son recently went to a Sportsperson dress-up party and won a prize for best dressed lad. Gave him my Hot Pink racing silks and helmet to go along as a jockey. albeit A 6 foot tall one 😆)
  16. well you're showing off in front of the World if you can win at Royal Ascot . the Best of the Best and gets coverage not only UK , but America, France and all the Shiehks are there , trying to smack each other down with their Billions . great that someone like Takeover target , Black Caviar and a handful of others from Down-under can turn up and spoil their party 👍. so the Ultimate 'Stage' it is . like the Academy Awards are for actors 😅🏆🏇
  17. The Grand Master will be 'at play' Brodster. watch him go on the Big stage (yet again) in about 4 races tonight. Arna must be tickled Pink to have him on Jolimont these days . She sure is getting the results now with the great man steering. What a certainty of all time it is again tonight?? . I'm lapping it up like milk 🍼 lol. (famous last words 😂😉)
  18. One thing you've never been able to do , is look at and enjoy a race without looking for some sort of betting angle. If you remove that fault from your repartee' you could have a much better time. and enjoy some of the BEST horses and drivers and Trainers coming together for some fabulous equine contest's . you must be tickled pink to see the North Island , week after week , having these great race meetings through the Summer and Autumn . not long now to Rowe Cup , Auckland Cup , Nz Messenger . Great to see some good un's strutting their stuff. South Island has fabulous Spring racing. (We only have Winter Constellations Carnival in QLD that is worth watching) so thankfully I get some good racing All year round . excellent stuff. Don't get so wrapped -up in the betting All the time and you should enjoy it more. like everyone else. maybe skip looking at odds altogether mate ? I never do , and it helps me enjoy the racing all the more.
  19. or even the Ultimate . Royal Ascot . in the hoof prints of the undefeated 'Black Caviar'. And kiwi gents Mr Waller and 'Jmac' with an Everest winner 'Nature Strip' did the job too at Royal Ascot, in the Kings Stand. really put Oz racing on the world map again. Imperatriz in front of the World , and putting NZ on the world map would of been wonderful . but sadly not to Be . maybe Orchestral will get up to World class stayer level for NZ ? . will be a great ride anyway.
  20. they had a bit of trouble here at Eagle Farm for 4 years and used Doomben instead for a long time till they got it right. Spent millions like they did at Ellerslie too. Here's something Chief wrote last time Ellerslie was called off . Space. Space quote I can't work out why there was so much sand in the top 5cms as evident in the cores I picked up. That may explain why the roots matted in the top layer and why there may have been water tension of the next layer down was significantly different in soil structure. I would have thought that soil would have been consistent through all layers except the very lower layers which would of a type to facilitate rapid excess water removal. If they are coring already then it may need to continue on a regular basis. Next they'll be poring more sand onto it to fill the cores!!! Te Rapa springs to mind. unquote. I think Too much SAND would always leave the root structure very insecure/ loose all the time Chief ? no matter what the weather or time passing . ? maybe they have to re-do the whole thing with much less sand ?
  21. well I say results are proof . The art of preparing a race-horse to win involves several factors. Anything you can do to win the psychological battle with the equine will carry you a long way to gaining victory in a race. No horse wins anywhere, without human intervention. there is a science to it . starting with bloodlines (helps a little) , then Nutrition , then breaking in/ handling , followed by shoeing, fitness measures (like swimming, track gallops ) then aids are applied (like the blinkers, deafeners, nasal strips and all sorts of things that help with a horses focus/ energy exertion at different points of the race-day ) for calmness initially and then Full-On full throttle in the home straight lol 😆. Of course Some Trainers and Jockeys are better than others at applying all this criteria . when to apply blinkers, when to use the whip , when to apply nasal strips and get the results accordingly. Having Millionaire Owners also helps 👍. for obvious reasons. Race conditions help spread the 'Win chance' via weights and barrier draws and handicaps too, and getting a jock able to 'gel with the horse' is critical to your chances too. nothing wrong with a bit of superstition though 😁 . But that's all in the LUCK element of it all. As indeed, you still need 'Luck in the Running' after all , if you are going to come out the Victor at the Line. Captured by Love in her last 2 runs and example of that.
  22. I think the proof is undeniable Chief. The leading stable of Allstars were regularly using them for years in the harness world , and winning for many years accordingly . so the main rival stable ,The DUNN team, started planting them on the horses nose to keep up. followed by Telfers , then Dalgety's it seems are joining in the 'open nasel' rush all the South Island Big Players. They even put them on the baby 2 year old Fillies last Sunday in a Group 3. Here's Carter taking the Win in Photo on 'Forever Dream'. seems un-necessary to me on the youngsters, but the result was the 4 horses with them on >> ran the FIRST 4 in the Race. so are starting to become more available and necessary alas.🙄
  23. You don't have to see the letters G. A. I. written down the horses face ? a nice change .
  24. I'm sure Debbie has always fought hard to get the most of the pie . on and off the track 😁. Winx purchased at the Gold Coast sale for $1/4 million as a yearling I think they said once. yeah they do have many different sized shares in them these days. Up to 20 listed owners with gallopers too . Thank goodness we always had 1, 2 or 4 owners with the standardbreds and the billing was as simple as pie, with always halves and quarters for the billing , and you could do it on your calculator no worries 😆 even if they/you owned 2 or more horses , which most did as the horses were cheap ($10,000 each or less , rather than $1,000,000 (or $10,000,000 each) like thoroughbreds. that would drive you absolutely nuts worrying about them . sometimes you could/can just see.. the tension on these galloping trainers. the worry and pressure. Bart did , even Waller, many others , and even Gai look so 'tense' most of the time. They seem to get relief rather than enjoyment out of a 'win' most of the time. Gai wasn't even completely relaxed after the Slipper, even when a stable horse won it last week, as the 'wrong horse' won it . the real 'expensive' one dipped out and made her quite tense. (it still ran a good 3rd but their expectations are just so high , it just saps the enjoyment out of them all)
  25. Well she raced Winx in partnership with Magic Bloodstock (Peter Tighe and mrs from QLD) so had that Big white M for Magic on her Blue racing silks ( purple Debbie wouldn't be keen to see someone else's colours on her treasures anymore . Just purple now mate lol 😂 and Richard Treewicke a co-owner , so she would need $7.5 million then ? to buy them All out at the sales for the yearling foal . the record sale price just good publicity stunt/action/event for racing . Yearlings are already selling for too much . there's only a few that return a profit.
