  1. Absolutely and totally!!! . If correct weight is declared after a race is completed that is CORRECT WEIGHT. clear to pay. The punters were all paid ok. What about the owners ? taking the prize-money off them now is just plain WRONG. what a slap in the face for them because of stewards error. they should not do it. just move on ......... Wiremu has !!!! Wiremu has just Won the 3rd at Flemington today , without a claim. !!! πŸ˜„πŸ† well done young champ.!! Gave it to em' under a great ride with great balance, knocking off the 2 favourites. And 8-1 odds as well πŸ’°. May there be many more !!!
  2. You'll go 'Dizzy' trying to work that out . πŸ˜† But let's have a look how 'DIZZY Miss LIZZY' compares to 6 x fine 'Bettor's Delight ' mares of recent years , and work out if she is Better (Bettor ) than them .... that have taken on the great Menangle NSW, in recent years to get a fast time and more prizemoney . Looks like Stylish Memphis is the Winner πŸ† !!!!!!! for Wayne Higgs with most money πŸ’° and fastest timeπŸ“ˆ . but 'Dizzy' is right in the firing line ok. (and the only one Not sired by Bettor's Delight) Dr Susan 31 lifetime runs 8 wins (2 in NZ) about 1/4 $Million stakes 1.52. 1 MR Dizzy Miss Lizzy 35 runs 6 wins (4 in Nz) about 1/4 $Million stakes 1.52 MR Delightful Memphis 36 runs 11 wins (6 in Nz) $320,000 stakes (now winning in USA) Stylish Memphis 44 runs 15 wins (6 in Nz) about 3/4 $Million stakes 1.49.2 Braeview Kelly 50 runs 16 wins (7 in Nz) about 1/2 $Million stakes 1.49.5 Bettor Twist 33 runs 15 wins (14 in Nz) $600,000 1.52.1 La Rosa 33 runs 5 wins (5 in Nz) $200,000 (only just arrived in Australia) 1.53 Pl.
  3. I'm TheMightyQuinn (the 2 time Auckland Cup winner and 3 time Interdominin winner) had to race against this horse in photo below, as a youngster in New Zealand . But don't think he beat him. (Dexter Dunn had one of his first ever career wins driving on Quinny in a Reefton Junior drivers that year too lol πŸ˜„ nice one Dexter !! ( about a fortnight after Quinny ran down the track in the NZ Derby behind our photo horse. ) Who is the Quinny killer seen here ?
  4. well i guess Greatness is possibly on a 'smaller Scale' in Nz ? 😎 both did 'ok' ya think ???πŸ˜‰ with SMOKEN UP 2 wins from 10 starts for John and David Butcher and $15,000 earned in early Nz career............(before the 50 wins and $ 2,500,000 overseas with Justice) and I'm TheMightyQUINN with 6 wins from 27 for Peter Bagrie and $100,000 earned in 2 seasons in Nz racing.................. (before the 50 wins and $5 mill in Oz with 3 Interdoms with the Halls) the true blue champion Blacks A Fake 72 wins from 100 odd starts and $4,500,000 earned and 4 x Interdoms for Natalie ( pretty good from the get go in QLD ) Pretty Awesome Trifecta πŸ†πŸ†πŸ†. 3 champs with near 200 wins and $12,000,000 between them .
  5. Can happen in Nz it seems Newmarket. the 2 Blackie mentioned were Positives when 2nd and 3rd in the Grand Final race behind Golden Reign mentioned 1995. Junior's Image from WA, the Winner was famously disqualified at Addington 1971 after winning the Grand Final. And yet another one .... Who do we have here that was later disqualified as well.? dear oh dear...πŸ™„.
  6. spot on mate. Yeah there is AGH , the great man himself ,in the background later promoted to 2nd with the champ CHOKIN. Flies eyes Victor Supreme with the young Wolfenden , nearly stole the march for Interdom glory , but run down late by the hard driven Victorian for Chris Alford . Golden Reign the winner 1995.
  7. Well some excellent picking by Ranga and Blackie and some wonderful photos on this page of thread. brilliant !!! Here's another one ? It took me a while to work out this photo .. who it was and when ? definitely Addington. But some of the 'older' boys might have a crack ? Who Do We have here ?? there's A horse with flies eyes goggles on too ? lol.
  8. How about this bloke. now there is a top Aussie Rubbed out for a year speaking of penalties on this thread. And did absolutely nothing wrong. Big injustice of all time I reckon . just because he was captain. and some of the lads gave the ball a rub. (they do it all the time on their pants) Steve is currently sticking it Right up the Poms in the Ashes . yehaaa !! lol. nothing better for the Aussies . (apart from beating the kiwis in the Interdominion maybe πŸ˜πŸ˜‰) Bledisloe Cup ?? what is that ? gave up on that 20 years ago πŸ˜‚
  9. Great points Galah. I think those doing things wrong might need more practise , not less lol.... Just have set penalties no matter who it is or how many drives they have . e.g 1/ skittle another runner = 2 weeks . 2/ failure to give your horse every chance to win by a poor decision in the view of the stewards = 3 weeks suspension. 3/ aiding another driver = 1 year etc etc. I once caused a fall at Redcliffe . Of course, as Always you immeadiately blame the horse . hanging, pacing poorly whatever you can think of. The stewards said to me " In respect to the penalty ,of which one has to allocated because 2 runners were on the deck , we find you guilty , what say you regarding penalty , $300 fine or suspension? " they actually asked lol πŸ˜‚. my reply " crikey mate, piss poor horse could hardly pace, you should be fining whoever broke the bloody thing in , $400 geez thats more than the weeks wages ? you got to be joking . you can't do that to a young fella. I only got $40 for driving the #$%^&thing . There reply ' One week out, it is then Gamma, now get out of here and don't come back in here (stewards room) with any of these BS excuses again. " lol πŸ˜„πŸ˜‚
  10. How did Paul go after Ted passed on ? Go Training himself ? Dundas made the Interdominion Grand Final at Auckland for Ted , which was won by Gammalite, but Dundas was driven by CJ De Filippi in that race and battled into 8th . Not sure where Paul was?. The champion winner might of been to fearsome and had to wait for something easier . πŸ˜„πŸ˜
  11. Should get that fired up at BOAY. The theme to 'Star Wars' starts playing when The Galah appears. The "Rocky' theme for Gamma , The 'Grease' theme for Ranga, 'footloose' for the Chief and of course the 'Jaws ' soundtrack starts up when the Brodster is about πŸ˜‰....... duuuun dun -duuuun dun - duuuun dun dun dun dun dun dun
  12. Will be great to see how they go as 3 year olds when filled out a bit. The bloke Nat has in the photo above is ULTIMATE SNIPER . He clean swept the 2019 Interdominion at Auckland 2019 in his last 4 starts showing sprint heat speed wins and good staying ability too. Being by Bettor's Delight , like Lazarus, I thought the 'Sniper ' might produce solid foals like himself. Just found out he (Ultimate Sniper) is standing in West Australia this spring πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. sorry about that . you will need someone else a bit closer to Nz πŸ˜‚
  13. some of Bettor's Delight Son's might take up where he left off
  14. Yeah good points. It's just frustrating when they seem so dominant when they weren't in Nz. Makes em hard to pick. I love supporting the Nz horses that come over . Hot and Treacherous, Alta Orlando (even Taipo at Menangle last night) as well as Amazing Dream , American Dealer , CopyThat in recent years. and just love Spirit of St Louis.(who won yet again last night ) But trainer J Grimson running the Quinella last night with LOYALIST and BETTERZIPPIT is just a bit much really. But the Bloke has won the last 2 Interdominion Grand Finals so shouldn't be that 'Shocked' I spose. 'Boncel Benjamin' and 'I Cast No Shadow' coming from realitive obscurity to win the title. Against McCarthy and Emma Stewart powerhouse barns too , who do a mile of 'preparation groundwork' on all their star horses. Might as well give him (Grimson) All the 'medium rare' horses to train , as well as the 'well done' ones. He just wins with them all anyway. Nzer Loyalist too ??. If it Wins the Blacks A Fake Group 1 next month ..I give Up.
  15. Seen your question Brodster but is impossible to answer so no one has The Galah noticed Cambridge doing it too in some discussion last year. seemed the Unruly Horses kept WAY back at times. Must be nervous around the other horses it seems and the drivers just want them well on their own? . The starter probably doesn't care as they won't be interferring with the 'normal draw' better mannered horses ? Will PASTE the bit The Galah noticed at Cambridge. the galah Posted January 27, 2022 Why is it you see horses who start off the ur starting from 50 and 60m behind the field? Race 2 tonight you had 3 horses start so far back they had no chance. Is that the drivers or the starters fault? Its not the first time. If its so important for the stipes to penalise drivers in mobiles if they are even half a length behind, why not the stands when they are 60m behind where they are supposed to be? You and Brodi Gammalite Quite astonishing ! seemed the 'unruly' three didn't want to be anywhere near any other runners. Must be so they don't get too anxious being close to them ?? so were way back as the tapes released and almost out of contention as you say . (unless can trot 4-5 seconds quicker than leaders over that distance ) Standing starts are just such a bad betting medium anyway with the risk, but that takes the cake.
  16. I don't understand how a horse like Loyalist can win a Group race feature race against the best going round in Qld. Won the Redcliffe Cup tonight. A winner of 4 races for the HOPE stable in Nz from 54 starts. Only 1 win from 17 starts as a 4 yearold .............sure they ran 2nd at Addington 3 times in a row a year ago just before he left Nz last July , so they had him going fairly well . But to go out favourite and blow away a field of horses that have one literally hundreds of races between them. Well it was BETTERZIPPIT running second I spose, who couldn't even win at Manawatu. some good ones left struggling tonight like Hot and Treacherous, Colt Thirty One and LL CoolJ all quite a ways behind. Loyalist ??? geeez it's hard to keep up with who is 'Top Gun' these days lol. at least it's simple in Nz . with just Akuta, Self Assured and Copy That to win the big ones.
  17. And the Kings horse Wins !! on the 3rd day . How very fitting . The queen is dead but her beloved horses are still winning for Charles now. Tom Marquand riding. I backed Valiant King because the King was present at Royal Ascot each day, and then his own bloody horse knocks it off by a head ! She is a cruel game this racing game sometimes lol.....πŸ˜„
  18. the reason is too many numbers (Runners) in it mate. once it goes past 24 that is the end of it. You will find there is no TAB betting on races 5 and 7 as well. There is even a number 31 horse in race 5 lol. The stupid prehistoric TAB can't cope with that . Just too many numbers for their POOR as PISS system..(is same here QLD TAB) I've bet with SPORTSbet for years now. they are betting on these races ok. Bit better service to the punters. The TAB are just a thing of the past. have poor odds and everything.
  19. Some good observations mate. I agree in respect of the Penalty free system is not great. Leave that for the amatuer driver races maybe ? racing for less prize-money . I would of thought a junior still gets same driving fee/ percentages as a senior driver. no problem. that's fair. But a small increase to the 'owner' is a good way to lure the owner (a LOT of trainers are part owners in Nz) into putting a junior driver on with a clause of ' An extra 1k-2k paid if the race is Won by a horse with a junior driver.' exactly!! . That's why you need a Junior drivers race ( Two even IMO ) on every race-card. Is not a reality I know, but would of been great to give those 'fringe' juniors an extra drive, or 4 , per week to show their ability . Otherwise, as is now , and in my day , You go to Aus or do something else. Luke Whittaker left there and is going great guns in Brisbane just now as a Junior. Jack Trainor gets great Open class drives at Menangle (not a junior anymore) but left there to 'get a go' which your system is sadly lacking. young kiwi Trent Lethaby got nothing there, so is in Brisbane doing well and has a horse in a $100,000 race this week at Redcliffe. Good on em" (the horse is owned by a once great kiwi horseman in Graeme Harris too ) I raced against 'Harry the horseman' a few times lol... he's still going strong after leaving Nz years ago as a very good trainer/driver . The current system does give some 'fringe juniors' a go as you mentioned with the penalty free stuff, So someone was trying to do something to give them a 'go' i guess . but the pitfalls are many , and you outlined some.
  20. Well the 2 Aussie horses were burned off at Royal Ascot. worlds best were a bit quick on this occasion. But the rain stopped and the Aussies have taken the First Test of the Ashes .... yeeeeesssss wahoo . 55 runs for the 9th wicket with Captain Courageous Cummins and Nathan 'Lyon-heart' . heroes of the nation. Poms under the pump on their home decks now. 🏏🏏
  21. I think it's super important. Esp. For the sake of the young person. It is a Sport . And therefore a recreational occupation. You need to be an Active Participant 'With something to look forward too every week ! 😊 to make your efforts worthwhile . and get some enjoyment. There are a lot of things a person can do that make more money than work in a stable. They do it for the love of horses and participation in their stable success. Old blokes like us , if we owned one or punted one , yeah ...........you probably get better run for your money with Blair , Tim ,Mark or whatever, but gee , in the everyday races you Really really need to give the youngsters a go. Your priorities change around 30 years old, and all the blokes/lasses ( that got as many drives as they could in their 20's ) might be looking for a Trainer / Driver roll like Mark Jones , Gavin Smith , Bob Butt etc who all do well at that. I find it annoying that John Dunn (for example) , won't put his name on the Trainers ticket, when he obviously does do a huge amount of the actual training of the countries leading stable on the table, and then he takes 'out side' drives like he is this Friday ? . Surely he makes enough money being the NZ Leading stable ?, he doesn't need to take the drives of the youngsters to the Absolute Detriment of the sport IMO. Nat and Mark in a leading stable take very few outside drives. No Opponents = No horses = No youngsters = No Interest = No racing.... as a lot of areas in Nz are finding out
  22. Royal Ascot about to rock !! at last .... Jmac with 5 rides tonight that I saw. Coolangatta for Oz seems the best. Fine weather at Royal Ascot for first day . gunna be a cracker !! Looking for the BIG OZ Quinella in the famous 'Kings Stand' tonight. πŸ‡πŸ‡ = πŸ’° πŸ˜„. A race won so well by a few Aussies. COOLANGATTA (Jmac) and CANNONBALL (Prebble) for the money ?? go boys (and girl Cooly) Takeover Target (2006 Kings Stand) on YouTube well worth a look if you love 'hairs on the neck' racing . But bloody rain at Birmingham where everyone hoping to catch the Aussies WIN the First Ashes Test while waiting for the races to start. they need 170 to win . piss off rain lol...πŸ˜‚
  23. The solution is so easy . Run a junior drivers race every meeting (maybe 2 ?.... maybe a pace and a trot? ) All winners in Every race penalised (as they should be) to keep some classes of horses Always advancing . this is important. horses should be graded correctly on wins as Galah says above. To lure runners..... if it's a meeting of say 10 x $9000 races being run currently. Immeadiately Drop it to $8000 per race , and then run the junior driver races increased to $10,000 per race. Also give $1000 extra prizemoney if the winner is driven by a Junior driver in any 'regular' race on the card.. The Club puts the prize money saved each meeting in carry over jackpot for the on-course punters at their next meeting . brilliant !!!! problems solved . everyone gets a go (junior drivers) , punters get interested, etc .....
  24. No need too mate. all in good spirit. And you've always been on the money with often saying with how good the Nz bred horses are that race in Australia. so just a little one night 'sample' on this thread of some fine performances by Nz race winners competing in Australia last night to prove it. and/ or enjoy it. think it was about 10 wins from that sample of 21 races. Bit surprised my Aussie bred selected team won the points actually as wasn't expecting that. maybe blind luck ? πŸ˜† Still there is the odd good one (Oz trained horse) that goes over your way . Like Gammalite Lightning Blue, Westburn Grant and a few others , or in recent times like Majestic Cruiser, Bettor Eclipse . Chief is a good sport and hope he knows just tongue in cheek humour πŸ˜„
  25. Race 7 the final 3 races for the comp. and at Melton the good Nz horse Dannemora makes it 5 out of 5 wins in Aus at very short odds. So Brodie and Chief pick up 8 points each from that. Team Oz also finishes with a flourish as hometown winner Sailor Girl salutes for a 6th winner for Gamma , along with 5 seconds for the night from the Teams 21 horses running. NZer 'Elouisa Dale' got 2nd for Team D Dad n Dave the fav a well beaten 3rd for teams A ,B and D to finish things off . 4 pts each FINAL SCOREBOARD Points after Race 7. Team Oz for Gamma 82 points, A maiden comp win to join the greats of Blackie , Brodie and The Galah who have blazed a trail of glory in the BOAY comps in the past ....... finally !! πŸ™„ .. thought Chief had it tonight too. still a maiden though πŸ˜† (might be racing out of his depth ?) Team C for Chief 66 points, Team D for The Galah, + Davis , + Doomed 58 pts, Team B for Blackie 52 points , Team A for Brodie 44 points
