you've gone the wrong direction mate. you're a year behind. BEFORE , horses were physically only 2 years old in November /December and only LITERALLY turning 2 year old from their FOALING DATE. when racing in those months. VEry very very hard to get a yearling just turning 2, competitive in November?? NOW , and much Betterly offily,.... The 2 year-olds racing in November /December are very close to, and most Turning 3 years old from their foaling date (in late 2020 for most) . And Then will be 'Officially three' on January 1st. Most (nearly all) would of passed their third year on the ground then .. so way more accurate.
-
definitely true . But a Lot were Not ready by then to race competitively in November . most 2 year-olds raced towards the end of the season previously (May June July) when more developed . Now they will be actually near 3years old in real time (from foaling date ) and be racing in November before turning 3 for the season change on January 1st ... much better for the horse.
-
Thoroughbreds are having their birthdays yesterday mate. The 2 year olds from July are now 3. Thankfully the Standardbreds are more sensible and you can still race your 2 year old at the Cup Carnival in Novenber . an excellent move by the harness racing people. They will be 3 on January 1st.

don't worry mate.... he made it. speedy turtle... Safe to see in the new season January 1st .

" Well it looks like these kiwi blokes are trying to play cricket again AB ? " "Do ya think they know what they're talking about ?." "Warnie old mate, Nz cricket is like watching a turtle on the M1. Lots of guts and No glory."

Mark Walker cracks 200 winners for season!
Gammalite replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
Yes indeed ,It's the total proof of how good these Trainers in question are. The Te Akau operation , Like Allstars ,(and Roy and Barry P prior) and like Goldolphin ,and like Chris Waller and a few of those trainers we saw winning at Royal Ascot too , just keep getting Big race performers Every year. Lots of different Horses too. That's what makes them the elite . It's Not just a one horse wonder . these boys are like the Beatles or Elvis lol... hit after hit. 🕺 This Sheer volume of Winners of Big Races and success stories DOES make these guys the best there is .. where-as >>> Takeover Target and Veandercross were 'flukes' really . Amidst a galaxy of thoroughbreds being bred ( as were Gammalite and Village Kid in harness racing, both whom were trained by owner-trainers to Millions $'s , and near 100 wins each). But a great effort by those 4 x examples to compete at World class level for extended periods too. A Great Training feat and accomplishments achieved by those individual horses, by their connections as you suggest. -

Fair enough. Chief can cheer-lead with the results that prove the dominance/ and or great effort of your leading stable. In our harness racing games , I've had to fight hard for the Allstars stable reputation on forums, that are similarly a dominant force with their horses . Thankfully the criticism died away and a bit more respect and appreciation has been shown past couple of years. ( Mark Purdon training the last 10 or so Auckland Cup winners ) an incredible achievement . Owns a share in this years winner too, so a great reward for a champion bloke (Look out for Nz Cup with AKUTA 🏆 this year) The main 'Factor of Achievement' , being the same as Mr Walkers , is They Are Fabulous Trainers and Horsemen, easy as that. (and well done their stable staff too) I guess you even see Criticism of the AllBlacks now and again in the rugby. why ? I don't know . Must be the 'Factors in Achievements' you speak of, that people don't like ? -

Imperatriz = wow !! and about 20 others .. excellent performances. POS TRAINERS PTS CHANGE 1 M W WALKER 506 2 ANDREW FORSMAN 133 3 S B MARSH 127 4 S A SHARROCK 111 5 MS L LATTA 102 -

Te Akau uncover yet another good mare! To race in OZ.....
Gammalite replied to Chief Stipe's topic in Galloping Chat
Don't think the bashing is much mate. big soft spot for Jmac. Chief always been a Verry Elleegant supporter and many a win (10 group 1's maybe ?) culminating in the big 15-1 odds and 3 length Win in the Melbourne Cup . Chief and I thought he was Magnificent !! 💰🏆 McDonald doing the bashing there, and with Nature Strip streeting them at Royal Ascot last season too, giving it to the world , a real thrashing bashing. Spring isn't far off now ! so warm up your pasta ! get ready for a Jmac 'Everest' bashing (all going well lol 😁) -
Well that makes sense as they have already collected the $3,000,000 from slot holders , but will be paying out $6,000,000 over the 3 years. They have a spare million to work with for the first year anyway lol.... ( could be running short by year 3 ) Don't think so. These are the high class trainers and high class horses. was it 2 years ago or so , they threw Jason Grimson and Jack Trainor (and their horses lol) in the barn for a month or so, as the performances of their runners were head-scratching at the time. Stewards found nothing. Would be like having a video on to stop shop-lifting. (doesn't stop it) Grimson still with 'things' happening . Swayzee ... Loyalist .... Boncel benjamin.. betterzippit... lol..... Trainor had your Nz mare 'STYLISH MEMPHIS' hurtling around in 1.49 miles at that stage, 2 years ago ??? they had to put her in the Miracle Mile she was going that fast .wow. Mark Jones only won 6 out of 28 starts in Nz with her. average there. (That's just one example among many )
-
Definitely ALL runners are required to be in there. But I would say some other rules are implied . For example, such as if they see suspicious activity by the handlers/trainers in the stall with the horse on the video surveillence, they 'May' swoop in and swab it or whatever. there would be 'May' take action rules depending on the situation. But yeah they will all be pre race bloods and swabbed anyway. A QueenslanD Quinella will stick it up em !! 😆🙏🍾 just like the State of Origin did 😊 . (Leap to Fame and Speak The Truth ) this is gunna be good . 💰🍻
-
Before the Miracle Mile and the NSW Derby , all the runners have to domocile in the retention barn for a period of days . Looks like they are watching for race day or pre raceday treatments on the video . Don't the slot holders Pay for it ? This Menangle $2,000,000 Eureka race costs each slot $300,000 for a 3 years period . (or that works out at '$100,000 per year -per slot' ) The whole lot paid up front , (Must be paid within 60 days of buying the slot) so thats $3,000,000 the club have in the bank for the Inaugural running . They payout $2,000,000 after the 2nd September race this year, so guess the other Million is 'invested' to try and make a million for next years Prize -money payout. ?? turning 1 million 💰 into 2 million 💰💰 in a year ?? mmmmmm🤔 maybe time to call the Brodster ? think Brodie is the only one who could achieve that ? 😆👍
-
Lost the plot . The Eureka , Slot race worth $2,000,000 is on in a few weeks time at club Menangle. But have just found the kiwis 'aren't invited' . The world's richest harness race with a million for the winner . (No kiwi horse allowed) How Pathetic is that. Decades of great trans tasman clashes reduced to rubble by some biased bigot somewhere, who is scared Nz might take the trophy. Australia had a couple of runners in the Nz slot race (The million dollar Race by Grins at Cambridge) What the hell? Are we in aparthied here or something . just found the Race conditions (F..en stupid ones) today when looking for what runners might be going for the $1,000,000 first prize on Sept 2nd. What are the Race Conditions? The race is for 3 & 4 year old Australian Breed Standardbred pacers. The field limit is 10. There is a preferential barrier draw on age and sex. The distance will be 2400m. Competing horses may be subject to Retention Barn procedures in the lead-up to the race.

At least Loyalist didn't Win the Group 1 'Blacks A Fake' grand Circuit event tonight in Brisbane . ( Loyalist A tidy 3rd in the consolation to Katrina Purdon's horse AKLD horse 'Mach Shard' ) BUT BUT but ... Swayzee Does Win It ??? Holy shit....Beating the best horse in the country ? (Leap To Fame) although Leap To fame was sporting a flat tyre running 2nd. SWAYZEE !! 😰🙄🤢 .... no..no ..no.. It can't be true ... 'Grimson' is a Miracle Man . Cam Hart is a great driver , but that horse winning is just plain B#%&$*@#*&&$&#@)#&$^%##$%^&*S Is Tim Butt really that bad a trainer?? he had this horse racing midweek getting nothing ..
-
One of the absolute great blokes of the sport . Thoroughly deserves it . You should see his midweek efforts. He still supports Redcliffe and Albion country races with slow horses that are bred /purchased by his 3 main Millionaire owners. Does his best all week long. I will do a Leap to Fame thread , because he is worth it . (and comment on his comparison) **But Must say this .... Spirit Of St Louis the ex-pat kiwi north islander, was brilliant too. Last down the back straight in a Group 1 Sprint and still ran great 2nd Placing last night... scintillating late burst from him ! . 2nd in that race last year too ,Sunshine Sprint, to Bettor Eclipse before also running 2nd in the Grand Circuit race , the Blacks A Fake last year to one of Grimson's (Majestic Cruiser) Hope he draws 'One' this year !! will give it to em over the 2600m ? 🙏🏆🍾

Well can he do it tonight ? The 'Spirit' of Australasia with his bucketload of kiwi and Oz owners up against the good one tonight in LEAP TO FAME, .... notice his victor in the Million dollar race result previous post above has drawn the 1 alley. should make it interesting. oh dear oh dear.... The shame ... the embarrassment .... what's going on here mate?. The great Paleface Adios being 'slapped in the face' by a trotter ?? The big trotter 'Maori's Idol ' cruising past him in this heat of a Group 1 in Brisbane. saying 'Adios' to the Palefaced one as the big bloke pulls right away for a Group heat win against the pacers. (he ran 2nd in the Final)
-
would of had to kill them at the start with a bullet , is the only way old retired 'Sundie' could of beat Copy That and Self Assured (winners of the last 3 Nz Cups) and 2 of the best Pacers ever to race on our tracks. From 2 miles in the Cup down to the One mile 'Grins $1,000,000 race' , ( the 2 runnings of that race won by those 2 horses ) No trotter is beating them......

Nigel Craig had a great rival in one season in particular Walt . He and PETITE EVANDER both won a dozen races in the 76-77 season and had a few great clashes . Both Time-Trialled as well with galloping pacemakers and both broke the 2.00 minute barrier , being the first NZ trotters ever to do so , in near 100 years of trotting races. Nigel Craig couldn't 'stay' as well as some though , and was run down in the 2 Big Races. By Armbro Lady (Kevin Townley) in the Dominion H'cap. and run down By Framalda (wolfie) in the Rowe Cup. The Amazing Petite Evander won her last 6 starts in Nz for Frank Weaver (with John Langdon steering) before taking on the 'World' with a big winning International campaign. One of those 6 wins before she left was a win against Pacers , that is very noteworthy , although completely forgotten, as was a low class standing start Pacers event, at Claudelands in the Waikato. Petite Evander Won off 40m behind handicap in a NZ record time . setting her ready to become the world champion she was.

But didn't it get solved ? Cinimod Junior and Peter Ferguson . or are you looking at Pat O'Reilly driving Skipper Dale above ? what a top shelf horse he was . Here's a fun bit of trivia that no-one knows 😂 ....... >>>>>> Skipper Dale ran a Nz record for the 2600m when winning his heat of the Interdominon on the 2nd night (6th heat) of that 1987 Addington series . The hot pace was forced by Cinimod Junior and Peter Ferguson taking on Aussie Lightning Blue 😄. so ...... At the finish Skipper Dale comfortably was beating the 3 Aussie's Paleface Bubble, Sunset Candios and Lightning Blue just clinging to 4th (about 10 lengths behind Skipper Dale) !!! In the Interdominion Grand Final (over the same 2600m distance) 'Blue' and 'Skipper' swapped places and it was the same First 4 horses home 🏆 . Lightning Blue 1st , Paleface Bubble 2nd , Sunset Candios 3rd , Skipper Dale 4th. The trifecta paid over $4,500 too . They ran just inside the Nz record time set by Skipper Dale a week earlier too. So great times had by all !! (horses and people) 😆

Yes the lads have gone quiet lol 😄. tried to fire them up with some trans tasman comp but Pretty understandable given the deteriation of harness racing in Nz and them feeling a bit sad about it. We often discuss some 'great horses of the past' to brighten up a little.. (yes I think Hanz would of been in the 70's before I was going along at all , so don't know of him ) I love the kiwi's coming to Aus to have a race anytime (and the local Oz ones going to Nz as well) The thrill of the sport having a crack at the Big races !! sadly very few Nz raiders past year or 2. Tony Herlihy the only one at the Interdominion (trot) last December for example. a format which is supposed to be Nz v Aus best competing. I travelled with one to Christchurch once and we won the Big Grand Final. quite a thrill. Hey In your field of gallopers was thrilling to see a few Big kiwi wins this year. great to see them coming !!! Legarto the Guinea's , Pennyweka earned $580,000 in the Australian Oaks for her 80 owners in Nz. 40 came across to see her win at Randwick . and many more like Imperatriz at the Valley etc ......Racing at it's Best !!
-
'The Rising Sun' is run . The rising Star has won !! is LEAP TO FAME. as predicted a couple of years ago here he has become the Best horse in Australia bolts in from outside barrier draw by 5 lengths odd. now There is the home-town Interdominion Favourite for later in the year. Probably scare the kiwis off now. Grant takes the 8 points for the easy win and his stable runner 'Tims A Trooper' gets up for 4th . What a 'Trooper' he is to do that !!😉 as snatches a last gasp draw for Team QLD with Team Nz . the NSW team pick up 6 points with King of Swings 1/2 brother a great 2nd. 1 LEAP TO FAME Fr7 7 Grant Dixon Grant Dixon $ 1.30 fav BAY HORSE 4 by BETTORS DELIGHT USA out of LETTUCEREASON (ART MAJOR USA) Owner(s): Solid Earth Pty Ltd Breeder(s): Redbank Lodge Standardbreds 2 ROCKNROLL HAMMER NZ Fr2 2 Belinda McCarthy Jack Callaghan 11.4m $ 61.00 3 MY ULTIMATE RONNIE Fr3 3 Jarrod Alchin Cameron Hart 12.6m $ 12.00 4 TIMS A TROOPER Fr4 4 Grant Dixon Robert Morris 13.0m $ 26.00 FINAL Points Update after 8 races Team NZ Galah/ Brodie/ Walt 24 points (Ant's missing 4th by a neck with Cobber) Team QLD Gamma/ Blackie 24 points (Tim the Trooper grabbing 4th and 2pts to deny Nz the win) and Team NSW Paleface Adios / Chief 8 points Paleface Adios and Chief Stipe can rest easy though as NSW trained horses won 4 of the 8 races. But none of them were in their team > sorry about that 😎....

ex -pat Tasmanian James Rattray takes the first Group 1 tonight the Great Square for 3 and 4 yearold trotters worth 150k with LONDON TO A BRICK. Alas, Ant's had the Nz hope 'HOT TO TROT' in the one-one last lap but he stopped last bit , in very hot company. so No change in the Nz v QLD v NSW scoreboard. Team Queensland need for Leap to Fame - Speak The Truth - Tims A Trooper to all get in the first 4 to head Team Nz off . Can they do it ? Just the Group 1 $350k 'The Rising Sun' to go !!! bring it on ............
