  1. Yes that was a telling factor. The horse went around to the death seat and ran 3rd giving up a trailing position because of the actions of Cox it seems. so it may of effected the race out-come. I believe you are not allowed to put the reins in one hand these days either these days ? , so Cox was guilty of that . And raising your hand to another runner could have serious repercussions through the field just as you suggest, which is not ideal at all. strange thing ? is Didn't look like the horse was hitting him very hard anyway? . What ever happened to tolerating a horses knees whacking you in the lower back . ? you know they're 'close' then and pulling hard lol 😂😄. Just give them a whack with your helmet for Goodness sake, that will make it back off a bit and help the trailing driver a bit too, to get a little more control with his/her reins and ususally settles the horse a bit to help it get to the finish.
  2. Well when one of the blokes points is that he says the RIB is saying 'Oh well, as long as it can still stand, keep racing the horse until it drops dead like the other three" you know the whole thing is Baloney of the highest order. Just insulting to everybody including the readers and owners of racehorses. Official report said a thorough investigation was made, post mortum completed , Toxicology reports filed and nothing un-toward was found. the horses can be like people and just have heriditary cardiomyopathy and the like. Don't know why that is so strange. Accusing a trainer of wrong -doing for heart defect is just being mean really. Galah is pointing out a slump in stable form ? so thinks something is up . reduced runners and winners. seems this is a reasonable observation. 2021 had about 700 starts for around 100 wins, 2022 about 500 starts for around 100 wins 2023 to date, is about 120 starts (would be 360 by years end at this rate, 22 wins (so about only 66 wins by years end at the current rate ) so yes a serious drop off it seems? , even with the addition of great horseman Hayden Cullen to the team. so times are tough, or getting tougher for the team ?? BD Joe, Alta Wiseguy and Kahlua Flyby (3 of their better ones who were good enough to have an Oz campaign)) are yet to win in NZ this year/season. they had moderate success in Oz. To me, this is because of the quality of the opponents they race, nothing to do with 3 dead horses.
  3. Pretty much the same as smokers by the sound of it . Still amazing how many people get outside the buildings every day while at work , or pubs and clubs and puff their bodies into damage mode. Or does it toughen em' up ?? lol.... As for Gary Woodham, the CEO of a business that would include a few lunch engagements you would imagine, perhap's the lifestyle choices that often include alcohol are something that 'damages' a lot of people's body systems as well. It's a dangerous world out there Brodster lol 😉. even at the supermarket lol 😁. and As for sucker Special Agent comment in post above >>>> quote..... "The word is 3-5 years is when the effects will be most predominant." hahaha how the f would anyone know whats happening in 3 -5 years? when it's (that time-frame) has never been reached yet by the 'infected' lol ? . Must be tuning in to the local Nz conspiracy channel . to get the 'word' 😂
  4. Haven't heard that before lol. Shannon has been fined a couple of times in Aus for 'Noise' . screams like a banshee sometimes like Damien Oliver does at the gallops, to scare the beejeezus out of the horse and get that extra bit of finish pace . Just as well the stewards were never at the Test cricket. Mark Taylor , Mark Waugh , Shane Warne and many other Baggy Greens too, make the milking cow herd of dairy cows look so slow ,the cricket lads could of cleared the pasture in a day. Chewing like mad things lol...
  5. Just having a look at the latest 2 Junior Drivers Races results. At Rangiora last Sunday and Ashburton last Monday Junior driver races. Seems Carter going ok and running 2nd in both of them. but Out-driven maybe ?? 😂 Outdriven by young Aussie Lass Shannon O'Sullivan. taking victory in both those races. Thought you guys had had enough of Natalie showing the drivers there how to do it ?? do ya need some more Aussies to get ya sorted? Any excuses Brodster ??😉
  6. hahaha 😄 yeah Nicki Chilcott laying in on him all the way up the Straight keeping him on the back of the winner. He decided he'd had enough of the sight of her as they were pulling up 😂. $400 difference between 3rd and 4th prizemoney lol. Mango was on a Hat-trick (maybe for the first time ever ? lol) after winning races 5 and 6 just prior . so must of been annoyed to not get the three in a row ?. That winner WHISPERING ARTIST raced by John and Trish Green (who raced The Agent Orange with Hughes) looked real smart coming from last at the quarter to win. Another 'real good one' on their hands by the look of it.
  7. The Winning ride last month at Flemington . Dean's biggest career Win . A thrill for him and all the supporters of In Secret on the day (defeating TJ Smith winner I Wish I Win ). Dean Holland wins the Newmarket on In Secret.
  8. With the sad loss of Megan Taylor and Taiki Yanagida in recent months in Nz in racing accidents , today another much loved jockey , and father of 4 little ones has tragically been killed in a race fall in country Victoria today. Dean Holland had recently been on a career high , after picking up the time honoured Newmarket Handicap winning ride on race-mare In Secret for trainer James Cummings. Paramedics were unable to revive him after the fall in the first race at Donald today. Heart felt condolences to his widow Lucy and 4 young children. RIP Dean Holland.
  9. Well that is sad beyond words .😢 Must be a solution possible ? without going to courts. What do you think Chief? What a great keepsake . and can always remind you of your mum. Also the great horse is something special always. I have the book, a vintage jigsaw puzzle and 2 of the early postage stamps (around 1970 I think) when he conquered the world and was the first horse to make it on to one . What an honour for Wolfie and harness racing.
  10. In that case , i was being too harsh then. Dewe Took a 'dent' today with 5 horses down the track. 3 of them galloping even . hope they put the right hopples on the right horses lol.... Dream-time is over it seems .... 'Northview Peg' got the Blowies in the last for the stable (possibly after the poor form early in the day lol) and didn't even complete the course . here's the stewards bit >>>>>> Pup 1 Northview Peg 1 fr 262.50 4/4 Tristan Larsen (J) Tyler Dewe
  11. As they hit the line in the 4th race the trot with Brad williamson winning by a nose on the leader. Did you guys think the 2nd horse (the fav Master Class) just needed a tiny bit of a 'shake up' maybe ? , to take victory easily. the punting supporters must be cranky with the lack of vigour. I think Butt thought she was gunna cruise past without any vigour at all and misjudged it quite poorly. not a great look for harness racing IMO.
  12. Perhaps the Dewe bubble is bursting. 💬💦 that 'JudithG' was galloping before it even got to the dispatch point (along with 3 other horses) Don'tthey gait them very well down in the deep South ? 'JudithG' never in the hunt as brodster predicted. And likewise his short priced favourite 'Beautiful Noise' was struggling a lap out to try and come around the field and was gone at the 1/2 mile of being any chance. 'The Ladybird' could barely pace and galloped in the end as well in the same race. 3 Total failures so far for Dewe , maybe the Bookie odds-setter will be more Realistic next time ?? 😂
  13. too right . I won't be on them. 😄 Actually going for one horse tomorrow to beat them . A good driver in Tim the tigerman is onboard, and you know I always go for the best drivers lol . INSARCHATWIST in the last race at 20-1 odds. beaten by 5 x Addington class horses last time she went round but was going quite well prior to that. Although with the race 11 named the Nathan Williamson Racing Stables Pace , a good chance that Hurricane Hendrix might win it trained and driven by Nathan Williamson ? 💰👍
  14. Interestingly , very similar in the 3rd race the Dewe runner 15 Beautiful Noise has the $2.00 opening quote as well , and the regular stable driver. and not a lot of race form. Stablemate The Ladybird , who won her last start for Dewe when backed in to near favourite, is at $11 this time round? , so is no chance this time ? unknown driver ? both horses on 2nd row draws. The number 1 horse in the last race Northview Peg is also only $2.20 opening price. Another Dewe runner.
  15. yes a good effort in my opinion as hard coming from the back in a mile race anytime. But he could either go first around or wait for the Aussie behind him to take off from last place in the run, and trail him up and take the chance he could still 'Arrive in time' . which he did and judged it so right yet again . His owner of the second horse mightened be too happy ?? lol. Mark will have to butter her up nicely about the $35k difference lol.
  16. Mark Purdon drives a great race to track the Aussie up and take out the Big Mile race tonight. ( and cost mrs Feiss $35,000 by knocking her off by a nose ) . Mark will have to pull out all the sweet talking to her to explain that to his owner lol. Copy That out and running in 26 seconds first quarter , was a bit tough to kick again at the end. Still if you're taking the 3 best horses in Nz (and the best Aussie ) in the First 4 Bet, it's All good news !! as those 4 a bit sharp for the rest of that field . and it paid $430 here too. gotta love these good horses and drivers going around in Nz on Friday evenings .
  17. And there goes the Spirit of New Zealand and Australian Harness racing , having a crack in the Wild West. in the race equivalent (the Million Dollar Nullarbor last Friday) picked up $175,000 for 2nd place !! great stuff. SPIRIT OF ST LOUIS beaten a head , after leading from the outside Barrier gate !! shades of TURN IT UP in Bris then trailing Betterzippit after a lap) Gave his whole swag of Nz and Oz owners a bit of a huge thrill though , and went oh so close !! Grimson spoils the party again . that bloke is winning races everywhere, Messenger at Auckland (+2nd in Nz cup ) and winning Victoria Interdominion too. doesn't have to stay at home in NSW to Win obviously. whatta gun Trainer !🏆💰 $1,000,000 3YO and older. 18. Haha yeah the kiwi's were excellent 2 years ago with Amazing Dream winning the 2 feature Group 1's and American Dealer the Derby, at our Constellation Carnival in July. (the only month worth watching the local stuff really) But last year It was your mate Grimson Winning the 'Black's A Fake' Qld championship here with Majestic Cruiser , so he's not shy at Winning All Over The Show that bloke. ... even crossing the Nullarbor now to WA . 😄💰
  19. pretty amazing what he is able to do . Marky P even had many years apprenticeship before becoming the best . This bloke straight to the top out of the gate .... Former Kiwi pacer Betterzippit upstaged some of Australia’s best pacers to win the inaugural $1mil Nullarbor at Gloucester Park last night. "GOOD GRIEF" But the stories of the race were the continued remarkable rise of young trainer Jason Grimson and the mystifying drive on beaten favourite Magnificent Storm. "BLOODY HELL" Grimson surprised many by targeting the Nullarbor with Betterzippit, who had five of his first six Aussie starts for the Menangle trainer, but was yet to be proven at the top level. "OMG" “When I heard the NZ race (Race by Grins) and Nullarbor were on the same night, I was originally going to go back to NZ and try and go one better than I did with Majestic Cruiser last year,” Grimson said. "SMART DECISION" “But this horse, Betterzippit, came along and he just seemed so well suited to the (tight) track and the type of race in Perth, so I went this way instead. "WHATTA WAY TO GO " “He’s a really serious horse and I thought all along he’d be very hard to beat. You haven’t seen the best of him yet.” "EXTREMELY HARD TO BEAT" Much of the credit for last night’s win goes to driver Cam Hart, who bedazzled his rivals with a lightning early move around the field to take the lead. "BEST DRIVER GOING ROUND NOW, so No surprise there anyway 😂"
  20. Yeah ..Self Assured was back a bit from the first 2 , but never likely to win. He did win it last year so the 'other' NZ cup winner gets his turn which is great. Sky Channel here in Oz, instead of rushing off to dog races immeadiately they hit the line at Nz trots, actually stayed on this time for the Trackside Lady interview with Blair Orange coming back to weigh-in , And it was Excellent !!!! he is a very well spoken gentlemen (that we never got to hear from previously in Aus) so a nice treat to end it.
  21. BOAY Challenge Final places . The Grins race placings 4 - 3 - 10 - 7 BOAY Cambridge Challenge Final points BLACKIE with 2nd and 3rd place with Old Town Road and Self Assured clears out from the field !. Well done Blackie with maiden victory !!! 🏆 the Cambridge BOAY Grin Champion 2023. Brodie and Mikey on the Winner there too got 8 points each to finish the evening . Party On !!! Blackie 60 points, Gamma 50 points, NoworNever 44 points, Ranga 44 points , Mikey 42 pts, Brodie 40 pts, Chief 34 pts, The Galah 22 pts
  22. Congrats Copy That . what a win . too good tonight . Rest of place getters had their chance. Mark caught 3 wide by Kango lol. for a lap was the end of his chances.
  23. The GRIN RACE. With Double Delight needing to be in the money in the trot for Mikey he is just a fraction to far back unfortunately to take the BOAY title even if Copy That and No Matter Wat quinella it for him . Brodster can only get to 40 points with a Copy That win. Chief could Trifecta with the 2 Aussies and Self Assured and get 18 points . so is not quite close enough either. NoworNever has numbers 1, 6, 9, 10 and 11 running so can Definitely Win 🏆 Gammalite has the 2 Aussies, + Self Assured and Kango running so can definitely win 🏆 Move Over Blackie !!!! Blackie has Self Assured and Kango as well, but also Old Town Road in the Pocket to take the BOAY crown !! (maybe)
  24. Now we're Talking !! a BIG Aussie win in the flying mile trot !! wahoo 😁. (Too short to back though) ANyway it's Chief up and home on the Aussie 'Aldebaran Zeus' for 8 points in that one ... Nicky Chilcott does Gamma a favour with a big run from the rank outsider in 3rd spot , so 8 points too. and Blackie too , who gets another 4 points 3rd. Tony Herlihy has little luck with his pacing-bred trotter in 4 th place for Mikey and the Galah. BOAY Cambridge Challenge points (after 6 races) Blackie 50 points, Gamma 44 points, NoworNever 40 points, Ranga 38 points , Mikey 34 pts, Brodie 32 pts, Chief 28 pts, The Galah 22 pts
  25. They hit the line in the 6th Race . Just 2 to go . placings >> 9 - 1 - 11 - 2 Brodie and Mikey are 'on the money' with Ray Green 1st and 4th with his 2 runners. So pick up a cool 10 points each. But another NEW LEADER as Blackie rolls up the sleeves and punches David and Zac Butcher home into 2nd and 4th place in that race. NoworNever not far away either, as the one and only Partner trained horse in the race The 'Jaffa' for the Teaz family runs 2nd and gets him 6 points !! BOAY Cambridge Challenge points (after 6 races) Blackie 46 points, NoworNever 40 points, Ranga 38 points, Gammalite 36 points , Brodie 32 pts, Mikey 32 pts The Galah 20 points Chief 20 pts
